Flubba has released a new Neogeo Pocket Emulator for GBA:
New version of NGPAdvance, a lot of games should be a bit more playable thanks to speedhacks. I also added support for a lot of internal hardware (RTC/Alarm, Power button, DA/DA IRQ) so that you can use the real bios. Still no flash emulation as I can't really see how to implement it on the GBA... Also uploaded a tech doc for the NGPC.
*Added speedhacks for a lot of games.
*Added emulation of batteries & sub battery.
*Added RTC alarm.
*Added power button (SELECT).
*Added D button (R) (check Doko Demo Mahjong).
*Fixed a couple of cpu bugs affecting Metal Slug 1 and a couple of other games.

Number one sign that WiiWare is starting to take off: games seem to appear out of nowhere!
That's just what happened in Japan today as Cable Entertainment shared details on a launch event for an upcoming WiiWare game that we'd previously never heard of.
The title in question is Play With Kappa: Kappa and Forest Friends, a digital picture book featuring a young boy named Kappa who longs to be human. The title includes narration by talent Ryoko Tsunoda and simple quizzes to test if the kids have been listening.
While we're just now hearing about it, Kappa will hit the Japanese WiiWare service on the 9th at a somewhat odd price point of 600 WiiPoints. If we feel like playing with Kappa and his forest friends on that day, we'll let you know what we think. If not, enjoy these screenshots!

Videogame publisher XS Games announced today a new arcade style air combat videogame, Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk, for the Nintendo Wii. Developed by Kando Games, Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk is set in a futuristic universe. The player assumes the role of a brave and grizzled pilot, leader of the elite resistance military unit "Ghost Squadron". At the player's command is a group of brave but inexperienced fighter pilots that only the player can lead into battle. The objective: to save mankind from corruption and turmoil at the hands of the Union of World Nations. At stake, is the fate of the world -- victory is the only option.
A single player game that uses both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control a player's aircraft, Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk features ground shaking weapons, non-stop combat and thrilling special effects. The game's 34 unique missions can be navigated with 23 different fighter planes, allowing the player to fly at amazing speeds and create spectacular explosions. By commanding the Ghost Squadron, completing missions and defending the front line, the player earns points for a chance to fly top-secret planes with devastating weapons. Players have to demonstrate they have what it takes to become a true Rebel Raider.
Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk has an ESRB rating of E10+ and will have a suggested retail price of $29.99. The game will be available at retail outlets nationwide on September 16th.

At last, someone managed the most needed, most anxiously-awaited PC retrofit job there is: putting a PC inside a Nintendo Wii box. Looking into its guts and its back, the Wii PC not very powerful, but it is fully functional and comes with everything you need in a Windows XP box.
The computer runs Windows XP SP3 on a Celeron 1.3GHz, Intel 852 chipset, 512MB of RAM, and 40GB hard drive, with wireless access, digital video output, three USB ports, and a fan that he stole out of a F-35 STOVL fighter yet. At least, it sounds like one.

Sega has an all new Shining Force game in development for the DS. The latest issue of Famitsu has a first report on Shining Force Feather.
In Shining Force Feather, players take control of main character Jin, a treasure hunter and wanderer. The game takes place 3,000 years following the war between the Shining Force warriors and enemy forces known as the Kyomu. That war is remembered primarily as artifacts, which is where Jin comes into the picture.
On one of his treasure hunts, Jin discovers Alfeen who, while looking like a young lady, is actually a machine. A remnant from the war of 3,000 years ago, Alfeen is used to control an air ship. The only reason she survived to modern times is that she was a backup control unit and was never put to use. Believing Jin to be her master, she powers up an air ship that was used during the Shining Force times.
This is where the story begins, with Jin and Alfeen traveling the world. Joining them is Bail, a centaur and childhood friend of Jin.
Feather will feature a turn-based strategic battle system with an overhead perspective. Select an enemy for attack, and the game switches to a side perspective. Here, the battle system takes on somewhat of an action feel as you press buttons to select from various actions.
In addition to solo attacks, the battle system will allow players to team up their forces for combination attacks.
The title represents somewhat of multi-part collaborative effort for Sega. While Yoichi Shimosato is serving as producer, Sega is entrusting development to Flight Plan, a studio known for the Summon Night series. Character designs are being handled by both Pako (Shining Force EXA) and Noiji Ito (Haruhi Suzumiya series).
Shining Force Feather is currently 60% complete and will see Japanese release in Spring of 2009.

Hmm i know ive just posted the video but i went to the main Wii Hackers the HackMii crew and straight away we see a different angle to the news story:
Apparently tehskeen took a month-old video, coupled it with a paragraph of reality and a paragraph of rampant speculation and nonsense, and made it into a news story. This is undoubtedly going to spread around as these things do, so I’m going to stop it dead in its tracks.
It’s not a pandora battery. It won’t help custom firmwares. It has nothing to do with upgrading or downgrading IOS. It has limitations. It only helps with certain very specific cases.
I’ll post details about it when the time comes, since it’s certainly useful to fix certain types of bricks, but for now don’t believe any random nonsense that you hear about it.
Hackmii also posted this
Some specifics on what kinds of bricks this might fix (we have not tested all of these yet):
- If you can autoboot ANY disc and your problem is not a bad system menu (that is, reinstalling the system menu won’t fix it) then this probably won’t help. If your problem can be fixed (which it probably can), you won’t need this at all.
- This SHOULD fix the worst banner bricks (where you screw up the main arc and get a freeze on the warning screen, not after it), but ONLY if you have 3.2 or earlier, or 3.3 and the Twilight Hack (beta1) already installed, and in both cases you’ll need a modchip.
- This SHOULD fix any semibricks-turned-bricks (Opera 404 error on boot) but you’ll have to wait until a retail game comes out with a newer version if you don’t have a modchip or if you have 3.3 or newer.
- In general, IF you can see anything on the screen, AND you have a system menu earlier than 3.3, AND your system menu main binary (dol) and IOS are (mostly) fine (system menu data corruption is okay), AND you have a modchip, AND your hardware is fine, THEN you can probably fix it with this.
We haven’t tested these specifically, so please don’t take them as final.
SO there you have it, always best to get the info from those who are in the know.

Leading video game developer and publisher Tecmo today announced a holiday lineup filled with a variety of games in several genres, promising hours of fun and excitement for every gamer in the family. From an update of everyone's all-time favorite football game to an adventure with a Greco-Roman gladiator, Tecmo has it all!
Tecmo's holiday lineup will include the following four titles:
ROBOCALYPSE (Nintendo DS / October 28, 2008)
Developed by Vogster Entertainment, Robocalypse is an innovative, new, real-time strategy (RTS) game for the Nintendo DS. Featuring robotic armies equipped with unique weaponry, Robocalypse offers deep strategic warfare and a twist of humor.
A technological breakthrough for the Nintendo DS, Robocalypse features over 50 A.I. driven units with advanced distributed path-finding, dynamic music and stunning 3D particle effects. Supporting these advancements is a hilarious storyline penned by Jay Lender, a writer and director for the acclaimed cartoon series SpongeBob Squarepants, and Micah Wright, known for his writing contributions across multiple mediums.
Early previews of Robocalypse have been very positive, with the title receiving the runner-up spot in July for IGN's Best of E3 2008, Best Strategy Game for Nintendo DS.
Robocalypse has been rated "E10+" by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) and will carry a suggested retail price of US $29.99. For the latest information on this wacky but challenging title, please visit www.robocalypse.com.
SPRAY (Wii / October 28, 2008)
An action-platformer game packed with puzzle elements, SPRay features a unique gameplay mechanic involving the use of several liquids that are sprayed onto the game universe.
Players will play a spirited prince named Ray who must save his village from a banished evil queen who's returned to capture and enslave the villagers. After donning a magic crown which summons two liquid spraying spirits, he sets out to defeat the evil queen and her army of anti-matter soldiers. The key will be to skillfully use the "angelic" and "wicked" spirits to spray water, oil, slime and other liquids on enemies and surfaces to solve puzzles and wipe out evil. SPRay also features several amusing mini-games in multiplayer mode, where up to four players can challenge themselves in games such as "Paint It!" and "Sticky Chewing Gum."
SPRay has not yet been rated by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB). The game will carry a suggested retail price of US $39.99. Additional information will be available at www.spray2play.com.

Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff brings a host of new features that will further enhance the gameplay experience, including full customizable teams, super abilities, optional stylus control, Wi-Fi and wireless multiplayer. The title offers a good hit of nostalgia for old time arcade fans while implementing new elements to keep the Tecmo Bowl experience fresh and alive!
