smal news update http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/
September 5th, 2008: There has been lots of activity on this project lately. The KDE4 gui was modified to be a Qt 4 GUI, so it will work under many non-cutting-edge systems. There have been many QT and GTK GUI improvements. There have also been many changes to make Mupen64Plus more platform-independent, and as a result it is now running (with a few problems) under Win32 and OSX.

News from dev fr
Early release for me milestone for mankind (well, maybe. The future will tell). I try to make SEDS more "general public". Exit messages debugging abstruse (well, I always invoke them through meditations of my guru, but you do see more) and the coup, "console" is free to give the user tips "tutorials" on the use of software by pressing L and R simultaneously (yes, Cyril, it also works if you appuies on R and L, now.
Incidentally, this is also the first release with the editor palette.
Obviously, it n'empèche not take a look at the mini-manual of the previous version ...
Oh, and for those who had already downloaded the 0.3.2, you can go to 0.3.3 simply by pressing SELECT in the menu files "(hence SELECT START then the start of the programme).
Pixelez well _ ^ ^

A new release from Mega Man
Purpose
Launch Gamecube homebrew on Wii. Read before using! Program can be dangerous, because the flash is changed.
Background Information
DOL loader is patched into MIOS. If Wii switches to Gamecube mode, the DOL loader is always started. That means that a Gamecube disc can't be started. This behaviour can be disabled by reinstalling a normal MIOS. I don't have a Gamecube disc, so I don't have tested it.
Installation Steps
1. Copy RVL-mios-v5.wad.out.wad into root of front SD card (This file is not part of the archive and is located on Super Mario Galaxy Disc (EU)). If you use a different version, this is on your own risk. The MIOS patching wad installer will only allow to install MIOS. This can only break the GC mode. If the patch fails, it could patch Starlet code. Starlet code has the ability to brick your Wii.
2. Patch MIOS using MIOSPatchingWADInstaller. CAUTION: You can't play any Gamecube Disc anymore!!!
3. Copy your Gamecube Homebrew DOL into SD root as start.dol. Use Wii Gamecube Slot A for SD Gecko.
4. Launch GCBooterHomebrew. This should start the the DOL on the SD card. If screen looks strange, you need to try it again. It is sometimes not working.

Over at Codemii they have updated the Homebrew Browser for the Nintendo Wii, Heres the release details:
Now downloads images in real time, no more having to wait for HBB to load all the images
Fixed IR cursor, no more IR cursor correction is required (thanks Wil)
Deleting applications now deletes all files from the directories created (emulator roms/saves directories aren’t deleted)
Dpad left and right now controls the categories
Updated HBB about image to include information about wii message notifications for HBB
This update should make loading the Homebrew Browser a better experience as you’ll no longer have to wait for it to download all the images when first run. The IR cursor being fixed should also make things a bit better as well.
The fix for the IR cursor was quite simple. I was using ir.sx and sy before as I thought that it would have been better as these co-ordinates are smoothed but it turns out that using ir.x and y work just as well and I believe have fixed the IR cursor correction problem.

In the latest issue of Club Nintendo - a Spanish Nintendo magazine - Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto shed light on some interesting questions. First, and perhaps most importantly, Fils-Aime reaffirmed Nintendo’s commitment to investigating a storage solution. However, Fils-Aime confirmed that it isn’t necessarily a hard drive. Reggie’s words are roughly translated to the following: “We are working on a storage solution and it is especially important in America because our consumers are using Wii Points for the Virtual Console and WiiWare. I want the people to have the right expectations; We have never said that it will be a hard drive nor have we mentioned how we will fix this issue, but we are going to deliver a better way to store the games.” Miyamoto added that gamers should expect an announcement in the future, as Nintendo is researching different technologies to provide Wii owners with some sort of relief.
Between the two, a few more tidbits were shared. As has been previously reported, a new Zelda is indeed in development for the Wii. Although, Miyamoto noted that the new title has not been shown (will not be shown, rather) until the team is confident in the level of development they are in. So basically, when the game is ready to be unveiled to the public, Nintendo will do so.
Other news includes: Miyamoto said that there are enough peripherals for the Wii so we shouldn’t expect too many more. Fils-Aime commented yet again on hardcore gamers feeling left out of this year’s E3 press conference and explained that there’s GTA for the DS and that Animal Crossing is a hardcore game.
Last but not least: No Wii demos on the Nintendo Channel, no DS redesign until sales slowdown, and Reggie Fils-Aime is flattered more than anything in regards to Microsoft’s recent announcements over Xbox Live avatars. New Pikmin confirmed once again. Miyamoto wouldn’t say whether or not we’ll see another Zelda game on the DS.

I've really been enjoying the posts over at the Stephen M. Cabrinety Collection blog, even though it has one of the worst titles I've ever seen. Up recently was a look back at some of the licensed goods in the collection, including this box of the 'Nintendo Cereal System.' And yes, they tried some of the 20 year old cereal before gutting the box to save it for posterity. Eric Kaltman mentions some of the challenges that come along with attempting to preserve these bits of game culture

Risike has made a Lua script that tests the performance of Micro DS lua.
It will draw a lot of bounding an rotating balls with different sizes of both screens. After 1'20'' it will display the max number of balls it can display without fps fall.
I tested on no $ gba and I found 58 bullets. I have not yet tested on a real DS. In any case can be moved on display 58 images by all possible operations above (change of color, rotation and zoom), which seems quite reasonable given that one can display Maps almost as quickly as it displays an image.
