Themepark posted this in the Homebrew Bounty:
I proudly present my first real project: Neko DS.
Neko DS (Neko being the Japanese word for cat) is a port of an old PC application back from the 80's. When run, you would have a cat on your screen who would chase your mouse cursor around, scratch on the screen, take a nap and various other stuff.
Since this application has always been very close to my heart, I decided to try and port this to the DS.
This is only a very simple beginning of what I intend to end of with, but fully functional none the less. In the future I want to have the sprites incorporated into the NDS via EFS, have the user being able to choose between different Nekos from EFS and FAT, and perhaps as a last update be able to have several Nekos running around on the screen.
I hope you will enjoy this application as much as I have over the years.
CODEChangelog:
- Version 1.0.1:
- Removed Neo Geo splash.
- Fixed "sleep running" bug.
- Changed cat speed.

Hello friends and fellow consumers of Kikkoman Naturally Brewed Soy Sauce.
STOP AT 500 is a classic game that is wonderfully remade in this new classic, STOP AT 500 for the Nintendo DS. Featuring nostalgic console-like graphics, this game will provide addicting, hours of enjoyment to come. The objective of STOP AT 500 is simple. Simply press the touch screen when the counter reaches exactly 500. If you pressed the counter and it stops at 500, congratulations! You are the winner. If the counter is under or over 500, though, you lose.
Although the objective is simple, the achieving of this goal is difficult to master, because of the fast nature of the counter. This puzzle will endlessly confuse you as you are addicted to the game, constantly attempting to find a better way to reach exactly 500. For the Nintendo DS, the game has been remade to use the unique feature of the Nintendo DS - the touch screen. To all who download this game, enjoy! And please vote for me as the homebrew bountry winner. I will be sure to buy lots of Kikkoman Naturally Brewed Soy Sauce.

Noda posted this in the Homebrew Bounty
Hi!
I'm glad to present here an updated version of the one I submitted to the Neo Compo, I hope you'll enjoy it.
For those who are wondering, it's labelled "preview" because there's still much more level elements and 3D engine improvements to be added which already on my to-do list. I wanted to release the current version as I'm not sure when it will be finished...
If you have some ideas or suggestions on how to improve my game, don't hesitate I'll also gladly accept user-made levels to include them in new scenarios.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick presentation: Marble is a complete remake of the classic wood labyrinth game, in full 3D (both screen) with realistic physics, mp3 music, on-DS visual level editor and more...
Features:
- Physics engine, with realistic collision simulation
- Full 3D on both screens, either as one big screen or with 2 different views
- Skybox to simulate 360° environment
- Advanced 3D effects: point light simulation, projected shadows, motion blur...
- Full MP3 music & 3D sounds
- Special bonuses and scenery effects (let's try this mushroom...)
- Integrated (on DS) full featured 3D level editor
- High score & progression saving
- 25 levels, with various environment and progressive difficulty (6 differents scenarios)
- Full motion sensor support
How to play:
- Motion sensor : just tilt the DS, and the board will tilt the same way (DON'T FORGET TO CALIBRATE YOUR MOTION SENSOR CORRECTLY WHEN PROMPTED!)
- Stylus : Hold the stylus down on the center on the screen, then slightly move in the desired direction to tilt the board. When the pressure is released, the board will come back to a flat position.
Press select at anytime to save a screenshot in .bmp format (the game will freeze for a short time during the file write).
How to install:
1. Copy the "marble" folder found in the archive in the root of your flashcard.
2. Copy the file "marble.nds" (or "marble.ds.gba" if your flashcard doesn't work with .nds files) on your flashcard.
Do the next step only if you encounter problems running the homebrew or have the "error initializing file system" message on loading.
3. Apply the DLDI patch corresponding to your flashcard on the "marble.nds" file.
Go to http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/ for the patches and instructions on how to do it.
Website:
http://nodadev.wordpress.com
- 29/08/08 : Version Preview 2
------------------------------
= lots of bugfixes in the level editor
= fixed the lock element bug
+ added an auto-repeat function to editor's buttons, it's now more user-friendly to adjust values
+ added top screen camera view smoothing, no more headaches when using DS motion
+ improved the stylus controls, it's now less sensitive (use a quadratic scale instead of a linear one)
+ added 1 new scenario with 3 new levels, to adjust difficulty progression balance

Legion is a top-view 3D shooter set in a post-apocalyptic universe comparable to that of the Fallout series. Speed! is a port of an old Amiga game. It's a first-person racer - the goal is to just run through a maze as fast as possible. The original really never made it past a demo, so there is only one level. It is, however, a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Lots of practice is required for good times!
My personal record is 11:56.

News/release from ollipolli
Hello!
I have released version 0.1alpha3 of my first real project for the DS.
It is called DSwiki, and it is an offline viewer for the wikipedia or all other wikis which are based on the mediawiki framework.
A sample wiki (German Wikiquotes) is available here: http://dswiki.googlecode.com/files/D...ample-data.zip
The interface language is german, but there are only some status messages.
Pre-made wikipedia-dumps for DSwiki
German edition: http://dswiki.googlecode.com/files/D...080712.torrent
English edition: http://dswiki.googlecode.com/files/D...080724.torrent
More instructions on the installation und usage can be found in the README below. Two images are attached, the first showing a normal wiki article, the second showing the very good Unicode support.
Please test DSwiki and give me some feedback.
Have Fun!
OlliPolli
DSwiki (v0.1alpha3)
=====================
DSwiki is an offline viewer for Wiki markup, for example for the
Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wiktionaries, ...
DSwiki is NOT a web browser!
Why DSwiki?
=============
DSwiki is optimal for all people with a Nintendo DS that like to
have their information "portable", but cannot access the Internet
directly. So far, no Program was very good in displaying the
Wikipedia on the DS. NewDictS can display an uncompressed dump, but
this dump is outdated, and the Wikipedia has grown dramatically
since then, so compression was absolutely necessary. In addition,
most homebrew programs can't handle UTF-8.
DSwiki is based on
====================
-- NewDictS <http://tvgame360.com.tw/viewthread.php?tid=21913&extra=&page=1>
Thanks to sesa for graphics-/unicode- and font-routines
-- Wiki2Touch <http://code.google.com/p/wiki2touch/>
Thanks to Tom Haukap for the file format and index routines
-- libbzip2 <http://bzip.org/>
-- Terminus fonts <http://www.is-vn.bg/hamster/>
-- GNU Unifont <http://www.czyborra.com/unifont/> [DOWN]
<http://unifoundry.com/unifont.html>
Thanks to Roman Czyborra
Features
==========
-- Get the complete(!) Wikipedia on a Nintendo DS. The English language
edition fits on a 4GB storage device, the German edition is just 1.1GB.
-- Quite good handling of internal links. Alternative display text
and appended letters are supported to create the same look as
in the online version.
-- Very good Unicode/UTF8-Support (as much - or as little - as the
underlying font covers)
-- A cache to navigate quickly the history of visited pages
Planned Features
==================
-- Much better markup display
-- Bookmarks
-- Improved Search (advanced input)
-- Navigation by document structure (jump to headlines or
jump from link to link as in text browsers)
-- "Find as you type" inside an article
-- Memory saving font handling, switching between fonts on the fly
-- Customization
Use
=====
At the moment DSwiki can't do more than display mostly unformatted
wiki markup of articles (but word and line breaks and a proportional
font make it easy readable).
DSwiki works as follows:
A random article will be loaded at the start.
Up/Down: Scroll one line backward/forward
Left/Right: Scroll one page backward/forward
Stylus: Follow a link on the bottom screen
L/R: Go one page back/forward in history
A: Go to another random article
X: Index-assisted search on/off
Articles names (no unicode yet) can be entered
on the keyboard.
Touching the red button clears the input field.
The D-Pad navigates through the index.
The current highlighted article name can be loaded
either by
* touching the green button
* pressing A
* touching Enter on the virtual keyboard
Installation
==============
1. Copy DSwiki.nds somewhere on your flash card, DLDI-patch it if
necessary.
2. Create dumps of your favorite wiki or download already prepared ones.
Visit <http://code.google.com/p/dswiki/wiki/Dumps> for a list.
3. Copy dewiki.ao1, dewiki.ao2, dewiki.dbz, dewiki.idx and dewiki.ifo
into the root directory of your flash card.
IMPORTANT: These names are fixed at the moment, so use them
anyway, even if you want to use a different language/wiki.
Bugs/Issues
=============
-- The german article "ß" is not found correctly.
Have Fun!

News/release from rck
You've seen this animation a hundred times. At least. The point is, you can ignore the animation part of this release. I've released this because of some strange things I've seen happening here as well as in PolyTouch. From the known bug list of Qix:
- Has a similar graphics-memory problem like PolyTouch.
- when you start Qix, you should immediately see a cyan dot
pattern. This pattern is not supposed to be there.
- if you set the left limiter to 32 or higher values, the dot
pattern disappears
- if you set the lower limiter to exactly 160, the whole
screen is filled with cyan lines -- nothing else can be
seen.
Can anyone confirm this?

News/release from Jayenkai
I was initially going to release the super-quick "Just the editor, and a few levels" version, but as I sorted a few bugs, more and more of the game got fixed as well, and then I added the whole main menu, and things started to take a more "proper" form.. so..
JNKPlat DS 08
The Download
JNKPlat DS 08 : Complete with dldi version and non-dldi version. (.sc.nds/.ds.gba/.nds for each)
Shove it in the root, DLDI it if necessary, and add the JNKPlat folder for your saves.
Enjoy, complain, rant and rave.
The Game
A simple puzzle platform game. Get to the exit to complete each level.
Be aware, though.. This game is more a Puzzle game than it is a Platformer. There are many weird grid-based things that are leftovers from that style. Most noticable is Platdude's very specific Jump. One up, Three across.
The Blue Circles (Super Precious Gems!!) are collectable. You don't need them, but there's a total on the main menu. Get 'em all, and you get to say "I got 'em all!"
The Controls
There's two jump buttons, and a hold button.
The hold button, B, can be used to dangle from hooks, vines and red floors. It can also be used to drag red boxes.
The two jump buttons, Y and A, jump left and right respectively. It's easy once you try. If you really dislike it, you can switch to single button jump on the main menu, but I wouldn't recommend it! Some things happen too quickly to stop and turn around!
The Level Packs
Level packs can contain many many levels, but each level must be played in the order layed out in the pack.
No saves! If you die 3 times, you're right back at the start.
The Editor
Tap the middle icon on the titlescreen to enter the editor.
Draw a level.
Hold a trigger, and a Wipe/Quit and Test button appear at the bottom. If you test a level, and subsequently complete it, and you can then also Save it from this same Trigger-based menu. Note : You can only save a level if you've managed to complete it! You don't need all the gems, but you do need to get to the exit.
The level will be added as a simple line of ascii text, to the bottom of the JNKPlat/MyLevs.lev file on your card (assuming you're using the DLDI version, and have added the JNKPlat folder to the root.)
Each line is it's own level. Feel free to copy+paste these lines to build up your own little level packs.
The Linkage
Socoder.net - AGameAWeek.com
http://socoder.net/
http://agameaweek.com/
The Request
If you make any levels, send 'em my way! The next release should be ready in a couple of weeks time. (or maybe before, if I get plenty of levels!)

GCBooter is a simple application which allows anyone to boot their original GC games from Wii mode. It is region free and works from the homebrew channel.
This is far simpler to use than having to patch your system menu for region free
Usage
Just copy the GCBooter folder into your /apps/ folder on your card and run it via the homebrew channel. Insert your GameCube disc and press A on the GameCube controller a few times.

Eidos has given its Gauntlet DS game a launch window of October.
It's the same top-down affair you'd expect, with zombie swarms attacking in their numbers over 40 maps across three realms.
As well as the facelift, the new game also packs co-op and competitive multiplayer modes that work both locally and over the internet, and a full ranking system that tracks your performance. It also allows for voice chat during games, so you can shout "IN YOUR FACE" at your opponents.

Here's a great example of why you shouldn't sleep in. Every week, Nintendo sends out a release about its new downloadable game offerings of the week. My dear, close friend Ross, still flush with joy from his trip to PAX, gets to the email first and ends up writing about the Virtual Console release, the totally awesome Super Mario RPG while I, still groggy from choosing a Sunday night to make myself the Mayor of Lower New Drunkington, get to write about the WiiWare side of the coin: My Aquarium (Hudson Entertainment, 1 player, 500 Wii Points).
So, here we go: My Aquarium is a virtual aquarium, similar to a real aquarium in every way except that it never forces you to teach your children complicated and often troubling lessons about death.

The ScummVM Team has released a new version of ScummVM for tons of consoles and Operating Systems,
Heres the release details:
We can call it a tremendous development. Half a year since 0.11.1 passed pretty quickly, and we are pleased to announce the release of 0.12.0!
This new version of ScummVM adds support for 5 completely new games. The games that now run smoothly on many more platforms than was initially intended are: The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Two: Hand of Fate, The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge, Lost in Time, The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble and Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back.
The number of supported platforms grew as well. The PS2 port has been revived, and the GameCube and Wii are now supported too. Take your Wiimote and make your beloved adventure game protagonist run around the screen .
For those new to ScummVM heres a description:
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins; Westwood Studios' The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. You can find a thorough list with details on which games are supported and how well on the compatibility page. ScummVM is continually improving, so check back often.
Heres the release notes:

- Added support for The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Two: Hand of Fate.
- Added support for The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge.

- Added support for the PC version of Waxworks.
- Added support for the Macintosh version of I Have no Mouth, and I

- Added audio double buffering to the SDL backend, which fixes the
problems with the MT-32 emulator on Mac OS X (for now only enabled
on Mac OS X).
AGOS:
- Fixed crashes during certain music in Amiga versions of Elvira 1 and
Simon the Sorcerer 1.
- Fixed palette issues in Amiga versions of Simon the Sorcerer 1.
