HUGE THANKS to all our contributors: gabringel, Sinkhead, silverspoon, t4ils, OrR, Funem, Ften, Skooj, Ricky2u, Stanny, and many more (anonymous donators) !
I have an announcement to make regarding future bounties. I have been discussing with other major scene website owners and we have decided to make some important improvements to the Homebrew Bounty!
The Homebrew Bounty will now take place once every 3 months (making it a quarterly event), giving homebrew developers a lot more time to come up with better games!
The prizes will be distributed in a completely different fashion, allowing for more authors to be rewarded.
The Homebrew Bounty will have its own site, separated from GBAtemp. A new Paypal account for collecting donations will also be set up (english account this time! *wink*).
The event will be given a new name! It will be revealed in the coming weeks when the bounty starts.
We hope you enjoyed following this competition as much as I did!
Stay tuned for the next bounty!

School's back in session, but it's not the only place to get your brain buzzing. This week's additions to the Wii Shop Channel include a challenging new puzzle game available via WiiWare, plus a pair of crackling Virtual Console actioners to keep your imagination raging between classes. Even if your school days are behind you, this latest lineup of downloadable titles will help get you fired up for fall, fueled by the one-of-a-kind fun of Nintendo's top-selling Wii system.
Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:
WiiWare
Groovin' Blocks (Empty Clip Studios, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): A music-based game like no other, Groovin' Blocks adds innovative musical game play to an addictive action/puzzle game foundation. Play to the rhythm of the music to increase your score, and try to hit "Superbeats" to double your multiplier. Go for the high score in each of the 27 stages as you collect stars to unlock 15 levels of power-ups. Groovin' Blocks features three skill levels, from the accessible Casual to the fiendish Hard mode. Play with your friends in co-op mode or against them head-to-head. Head-to-head brings it up a notch as the power-ups now become attacks on your opponent. Play head-to-head with people of all skill levels using a golf-style handicapping system.
Virtual Console
Final Solider (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone -- Mild Fantasy Violence, 700 Wii Points): A vertically scrolling shooter from the well-known Soldier series. In the 23rd century, invaders from the future suddenly attack Earth. Controlling a fighter created by the world's scientists, you rise to meet the enemy. Collect power-up units, such as LASER, E-BEAM, FIRE and MISSILE, and then equip them in Options to launch a variety of attacks. For each of these weapons, you can freely select from three different types in SET-UP. Anticipate enemies' strikes and deftly switch between weapons to defeat the invaders. In addition to NORMAL GAME, there are also 2 MINUTE GAME and 5 MINUTE GAME score-attack modes. The most perfect blend and balance of any game in the series, Final Soldier is a title you don't want to miss.
Cho Aniki (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone and Older -- Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, 900 Wii Points): The odd world in this shooter made for quite the conversation piece in its day. Players control either Idaten or Benten, celestial warriors out to bring an end to the tyrannical rule of the emperor of Planet Builder, who holds muscular prowess to be the supreme virtue of the universe. Aided by able-bodied muscle-head options Adon and Samson, they must battle to defeat the emperor's army across five stages. Use the buttons to fire away and lay into the Builder forces. Power up your character and options with protein from defeated enemies to have them "bulk up" with a yell, and take their macho battle to the next level.

Animal Crossing: City Folk on Wii will cost $69.99 (around £40) in US when it is released bundled with the new WiiSpeak voice chat peripheral.
The price comes from US retailer Gamestop's recent managers' conference in Las Vegas (via Destructoid)
City Folk will utilise WiiSpeak to allow players to speak to each other online as they wander around each others' towns, although don't expect to be able to talk to anyone other than people on your friends list. Nintendo protects the kids, you see.
The game's set to hit Japan this year, but US and UK dates have gone unannounced.

Nintendo has announced a "Nintendo WiFi Network Adapter" for the Nintendo Wii... which already has WiFi. While some users have difficulty getting their Wii consoles online, this should hopefully streamline that. The adaptor will go on sale September 18th in Japan for ¥5,800 (US$53) on Nintendo's homepage. This wireless LAN router can be used with the Nintendo Wii and DS as well as PCs and other devices.
The Nintendo WiFi Network Adaptor has a switch for three modes on the back: "Router", "Bridge" and "Auto". "Router" is self-explanatory, while "Bridge" connects to another router and then communicates with the Nintendo DS and Wii. "Auto" apparently can automatically switch the household's network over automatically.
Oh, and those hoping for an HDD for the Wii, tough c**p.

This is an ASCII Art Maker for Nintendo DS that I made for fun. Some people on my regular IRC channel liked it, so I thought I'd release it here, to hear what other people have to say. Written with devkitARM and PAlib. You can draw with whatever character you want, both upper and lower case.
Quick start:
Select button: Bring up the keyboard to select a character.
L/R button: Choose the drawing color.
A+B at the same time: Clear the screen.
Touch-screen: Draw.
Select the Space character to delete tiles.
Each tile takes up 8x8 pixels, and the total tile-grid is 32x24 tiles. Saving is not yet implemented, but probably will be in a later version.
I'd love to hear your feedback and/or comments on my little program =)
I can't attach the file, i think it's bugged. Says it exceeds quota. Therefore: Link.

While checking to see if DsDsRevolution had been updated i found another Japanese blog with a homebrew i haven't seen before, Lost Cities DS by tambourine_dc. Lost Cities is a card battler game in which you can use a Mii avatar, you can create those here. It's based off a card game of the same name by Rainer Knizia. The release is from back in February, but seeing as no homebrew sites have posted it apart from a few Japanese blogs (or so google search tells me), i thought i would up it here in the hope that it might gain a bit more notice from the scene.

New from Desert dog (thanks to dsscene for the news tip)
I made this for a friend. It's a Sexy Blackjack Trainer variant based on the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Same game but with appropriate graphics and music - play blackjack, win points and unlock pictures.
Recommended if you like both blackjack and Haruhi Suzumiya; or you're a Multiple:Option collector That said, I'm not counting this as an official M:O release - it's a side project and what you see is what you get. Use No$GBA if you're emulating.

If you've got a case of Club Nintendo envy, you might want to close your eyes for this one. Nintendo Japan updated the rewards program item list today with six items, at least three of which have the potential to make fans outside of Japan weep sour tears of jealousy.
The six items include:
Game & Watch Collection 2: This DS cart (complete with a case!) includes two Game & Watch classics, Parachute and Octopus. Also included is Parachute X Octopus, an original game combining the two. 500 points.
Touch Generations Soundtrack: Following a series of Mario-themed soundtracks, the Touch Generation series gets the speaker all to itself. When Nintendo says Touch Generations, it means a wide variety of titles, including Wii Fit, Wii Play, the Wii Shopping Channel, Nintendogs, and even Smash Bros. Brawl. A total of 25 tracks are included in this 64 minute CD. 400 points.
Mario Party playing cards: A 54 card set featuring artwork for Mario Party 8. The cards can be used as a picture puzzle game (instructions included -- probably in Japanese, though). 300 points
Mario & Luigi mini pouch: Two mini pouches are included in this set. Each is capable of holding small items like change and DS cartridges. 250 points.
Nintendo DS Lite pouches: These nylon/polyester pouches come in red, yellow, green, and orange. There's space for your DS Lite, with a pocket for two games. 250 points.
Original Mario badges: Nintendo has created four badges, each original Club Nintendo designs. 250 points.
Club Nintendo members in Japan have access to these items now. Everyone else will have access to them once members take delivery of the items and start posting them to Ebay.

Hello everyone,
This is my first DS Application, DSettings !
It is a GUI that shows the DS's Settings.
I know, it's not that great, but it's my first app!
(NOTE: Don't test in an emulator, or it won't show settings, and without them, it's horrible, test only on a flashcard )

Aerthel has released a new version of his Project Sheratan ~ A Baten Kaitos Battle Engine for DS RPG games app:
This Project (though is not the same as before, i'm keeping the name) aims to create a Card Battle engine for RPG games on Nintendo DS, mimicking the Baten Kaitos series's card system. If you haven't played such games (shame on you! ), there are some pretty good YouTube videos like this one to show how the system works. Basically, you have cards that control your characters movements and actions, and played in certain order will resultin flashing and devastating attack combos.
Instructions:
* L/R changes the music
* Touch a card to display its name
* Touch a card while holding Down (or B for left-handed players) to discard it
* Touch a pair of cards while holding Up (or X for left-handed players) to swap them
* Touch a character miniPotrait to set him/her as the "selected character"
Project Sheratan is once again one step closer to completion. New release version 0.009 has these new features:
*Created classes for management of characters. (Sprites from http://www.spriters-resource.com)
*CardTray class created for checking player's card selections and transforming them into character actions.
*Also a lot of less important changes (changed bottom-screen background and the helpBar texture, erased some debug info and a LOT of code cleaning)
To use the card tray, you first need to select which character will play next. Touch the mini portrait to select him/her. Later, you will be able to play cards by selecting them, those will go to the tray and the selected character will perform the actions according the cards you played.
