SouthPeak Games has released a batch of new screens for DS title Ninjatown, introducing the Dark Forest area of the game.
The original action-strategy title, in development at Venan Entertainment, is based on the Shawnimals' designer toy line.
It's set in a peaceful place known as Ninjatown inhabited by... yes, you guessed it, Ninja's, but everything goes tits up following the eruption of a nearby volcano, and the town's attacked by hordes of evil enemies.
Played from the top down, the game charges you with leading the fight back to regain one Ninjatown district at a time. It's due out this Autumn.

Nintendo has revealed that each Nintendo Points card, recently announced alongside the Nintendo DSi, for its digital distribution shop can be used for either the handheld or the Wii and cannot be split between both, according to Siliconera.
At a recent Japanese press conference, Nintendo renamed Wii Points to Nintendo Points because they could also be spent in the DSi store.
The points cards come in 1000, 3000 and 5000 points amounts, with the premium titles for DS costing 200, 500 or 800, however once used on one of the consoles they cannot be used on the other, meaning each card has to be dedicated to the DSi or Wii shop.
It is believed that the reason behind this is that customer shopping information for the Wii isn't stored online but rather on the console itself and without an account system in place there is no way that consumers could share unspent DSi points with their Wii.

SuccessHK have today restocked the US Version of Wii Fit, anyone with a US Version who doesnt live in the US might find this very interesting, after all these months i still cant get a hold of the US Wiifit, maybe this time ill succeed :P
The active-play phenomenon started by Wii Sports now spreads to your whole body thanks to a pressure-sensitive Wii balance board, which comes packed with Wii Fit. The board is used for an extensive array of fun and dynamic activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and games. Many of these activities focus towards providing a "core" workout, a popular exercise method that emphasizes slower, controlled motions. Family members will have fun staying active and talking about and comparing their results and progress on a new channel on the Wii Menu.

Hillbilly has released some info of his Iphone for DS Project:
This project is not dead!!! I am working really hard, and if anyone reads my blog, then you'd know that I am planning really hard to make a public release by the 31 of this month. Thus, I am really busy and never have too much time to post here, let alone on palib.
Updates :
Map viewer is working! (Yay!** ) Also, I may have to set the map viewer's image width and height to a constrained proportion.. I don't know...
Music Player - able to browse and select files but ASlib for some reason can't decode .Mp3 files right so the files that you pick, can't be played unless they are formatted for DS specifications.
File Browser - Added touch support. (going to add a nice BG soon too.)
Text Editor - Probably not going to have a "draw a letter here to put it into the text" option anymore due to the fact that I'm using 16c BG's now.
Calendar - working but still ironing out a few bugs from putting in 16c BG's instead of the 8bit one I had.
Phone - Have yet to hear from the makers of SvSIP or understand that pjplib that SvSIP uses to work.
Settings - Not working... (Yet)
General : New Theme : "DPhone : Flare", Load icons from FAT, load icon positions from "iconXY.ini", Icons can be set as 64x64, 32x32, 16x16, and 8x8 pixels, New mode upon startup : "Unlock" (has customizeable BG's in case you want to put a picture of yourself or something), a customizeable toolbar (that actually shows what is running), and also the main screen show's the battery's status, and that's about it.
There, you wanted news, and now you got it. Happy?

Ever since Nintendo's E3 press conference this year, much talk has been bandied about claiming the company has abandoned the hardcore gamer (or just "core gamer," as Nintendo likes to say). The company took its recent Media Summit event in San Francisco to directly reach out to the enthusiast press and hardcore gamers with several new titles like a Punch-Out! remake, the turn-based strategy game Fire Emblem DS, and a sequel to the Japanese shooter Sin and Punishment. But speaking with VentureBeat, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime laments that we gamers are never satisfied.
"The gaming enthusiast that buys a tremendous amount of games is truly insatiable," Fils-Aime says. "As an example, in March, we launched Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In April, we launched Mario Kart. In later April, we launched Wii Fit. Then, in July, at E3, they say, 'where are the games?' They say they want the next Mario game. Super Mario Galaxy isn't even a year old yet."
While we here at IGN Nintendo were pretty happy with the Media Summit last week, Reggie still appears exasperated with the core market. "We believe today that we have shown a plethora of games and genres that can satisfy the most casual to the most core. Even that doesn't seem like it's enough."
What do you think? Should Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii be enough to satisfy us for the entire year? Should we be content to keep playing last year's Mario Galaxy? Let us know in the comments below.

While Wii owners are generally excited about the release of Wii MotionPlus next year, many have wondered why the technology wasn't included in the Wii in the first place. Its promise of true 1:1 control seems, to many, what the console should have offered all along. Speaking to VentureBeat, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime explains the decision to wait on MotionPlus was due to the technology's cost.
"We were aware of that technology (the gryoscopic chips made by Invensense) at the time we designed the original Wii," Fils-Aime explains. "But the cost would have been too high for the business model. It would have been unacceptable. By waiting about three years, the costs come down substantially and it becomes a viable product."
We'll find out if the wait was worth it next spring.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter's told CVG that the new DSi's ability to download games could play a crucial role in expanding Nintendo's user base.
"[I] suspect that broader appeal will ultimately be determined by the quantity and quality of downloadable content," he told us. "If we see games like Boingz and Tetris (new Wii Ware games) exported to the DSi, or see new innovations that use the camera, I think it will be a game changer."
Nintendo announced the DSi last week, the new SKU packing in a number of new features not offered by previous DS models, including a web browser, direct access to a DSi download store and a 0.3 megapixel camera.
The analyst also responded to comments made by John Koller, Sony's US director of hardware marketing, who earlier suggested that the DSi might not be enough to help Nintendo expand its user base beyond the children's market.
"I think that the core of the user base is between 6 and 18 (probably 75% of active users), so Koller isn't that far off," Pachter said. "The biggest reason for Western users over 18 to buy a DS is the games - like Brain Age - that appeal to older users.
"The camera feature, brighter screens, thinner case, etc. are nice to have, but don't magically make my mom want to have one. I don't see how the device suddenly appeals to adults unless Nintendo is able to demonstrate that the camera feature allows for more sophisticated game play."
Nintendo yesterday confirmed to CVG that all DSi-only software would be region locked.
