We've called Wii MotionPlus "the thing that makes the WiiMote work the way it always should have" but there's at least one developer who doesn't care for that alternate history time line. Nick Hagger, the producer of Wii's de Blob, said he's worried the addition will overcomplicate things for the Wii's base, as developers move towards more gestural control schemes.
"While it's definitely intellectually stimulating from a development perspective to play with those ideas - and I think it does appeal to a set of gamers out there - I think the majority of people that play on the Wii want something very simple that they can just immediately get their heads around," Hagger said.
We'd like to think that there's room for both gamers who want more gestural controls and those who want to keep flicking their wrists to pretend they're tipping cows, or whatever's going on over in Wiiville these days. What about you?

News from Divineo USA:
This is an attachment for the PulseVU 2 or PulseVU 2X which adds up to an additional 3Amps* of power for controlling multiple** LEDs. Still not enough power?? Add more Power Extenders! As long as the power supply (or supplies) can handle the power, you can keep adding Extenders to connect LEDs to the PulseVU 2 lineup.
*The amount of current that can be supplied is also limited by your power supply. Please check the rating on your PSU to make sure it can handle the amount of LEDs you plan to use.
**3Amps of 20mA LEDs, wired in parallel, equals 150 LEDs. When wired in series, you can add even more LEDs.

News/release from Ollipolli:
i have changed a few things, I hope they work as expected. Anyway, I think it time to call it v0.1.
Notable changes:
The program now expects a folder called dswiki in the root directory. All dump files should be moved into it (suggested by Sphere).
I exchanged the main 6x12px Terminus font with a slightly higher font from the UCS-fonts collection. This will allow better typography (bold, italic) in future releases.
The font is an real frankenstein's monster (patches from very different sources ), but now it displays a glyph for nearly all unicode characters. Credits will be given at a later time, when I consider it stable.
Pressing Select brings you back to the selection of the wiki (also suggested by Sphere).
The indexer v1.0.1 ( http://dswiki.googlecode.com/files/d...exer-1.0.1.zip ) is now treating complete dumps (multiple revision of an article, some wiki dumps from wikia.com are only available in this flavour) in the correct way, by taking the last revision instead of the first (discovered by darkman90).
Have Fun!
Ciao

TOMY Corporation and D3Publisher, publishers of interactive entertainment software, have announced that Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 for the Nintendo DS has gone gold and will be shipping to stores on October 14th. The sequel to the only Naruto role-playing game available in North America, Path of the Ninja 2 gives players a chance to defend the Hidden Leaf Village as 30 of the most powerful ninja in the Naruto universe through a completely original storyline.
"There has been a huge progression between the original RPG title on the DS and Path of the Ninja 2," said Laura Yoshioka, director of consumer software at TOMY Corporation. "Between the expanded character list, the Wi-Fi battle system, and the new squad-building options, this is an adventure that should appeal to the inner ninja of players everywhere."
With 30 characters to choose from, including favorites like Naruto, Sasuke, and Rock Lee, plus an all-new Squad Leader and Ninja Tag systems, there have never been more ways to create the perfect ninja squad. The improved and intuitive battle system will make it easy for even the newest fighters to get into the combat, using the Touch Screen to unleash devastating melee and jutsu attacks, while the Wi-Fi multiplayer feature will offer aspiring ninja the chance to take on challengers from around the world. Based on VIZ Media's hit animated series, Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 is scheduled to ship to retail stores on October 14th, and is rated "E10+" (everyone 10 and older).

AreusTech recently revealed a Wii peripheral entitled "Smells Like Wii Spirit", a device that produces different odors based on what Wii game you are playing.
Connected to the Wii via the system's USB port, the device will respond to whatever Wii game is currently being played. Examples cited by AreusTech include Mario Kart Wii (which will produce a burning rubber smell) and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (a freshly-cut meadow). AreusTech has promised that the device is compatible with all curent Wii titles, and will be compatible via updates with new games.
Smells like Wii Spirit will be available in Germany for the price of 149 Euros and will be released in July of next year, with no known plans of release elsewhere.

dciso posted this info:
The Wii Recovery Dongle news has been out for some time now. I have recently recieved some of these to play around with thanks to bushing. As you have read on HackMii these dongles can be used to fix certain types of bricks. But other than the Youtube video not much has been seen of this device so with the permission of marcan & bushing I bring to you some of the first official pics of the device.

- If you can autoboot ANY disc and your problem is not a bad system menu (that is, reinstalling the system menu won’t fix it) then this probably won’t help. If your problem can be fixed (which it probably can), you won’t need this at all.
- This SHOULD let you fix the worst banner bricks (where you screw up the main arc and get a freeze on the warning screen, not after it), but ONLY if you have 3.2 or earlier, or 3.3 and the Twilight Hack (beta1) already installed, and in both cases you’ll need a modchip.
- This SHOULD let you fix any semibricks-turned-bricks (Opera 404 error on boot) but you’ll have to wait until a retail game comes out with a newer version if you don’t have a modchip or if you have 3.3 or newer.
- In general, IF you can see anything on the screen, AND you have a system menu earlier than 3.3, AND your system menu main binary (dol) and IOS are (mostly) fine (system menu data corruption is okay), AND you have a modchip, AND your hardware is fine, THEN you can probably fix it with this.
Those who have Bricked consoles this could be the killer device for you. More news as we get it
thanks to malloc for the tip.

The Nintendo DS Emulator for WIndows has seen a new beta release, heres whats new:
General/Core:
- Added gfx3d module which emulates the whole GE as part of the core emu. Moved the windows/cocoa OGLRender to the
emu core and replace ogl_collector. Now every platform shares the same 3d code. [zeromus]
- Add in some crude interpolation in the SPU (conditionally compiled) so that I can bear to listen to it. [zeromus]
- Change savestate code to support loosely bound chunks and more easily other parts of the emu (GE, GPU).
The savestate format is changed, but from now on it is in principle more resilient (it will continue to break though) [zeromus]
- Remove 16MB of WRAM at 0x01****** from arm9. Maped to unusued instead. What was this? [zeromus]
- Add early code for OSD [CrazyMax]
Windows port:
- Added a bunch of crazy templates to the cpu and mmu which speed up a the emu little by optimizing variable accesses [zeromus]
- Add an arm9 cpu load average calculator [zeromus]
? Fix a bug in texture transformation mode 1 [zeromus]
- Fix the buggy auto frameskip logic which made the emu slow to a crawl. Now it runs fast! [zeromus]
- Fix resizing, rotate & aspect ration of main window. Add save window position and parameters [CrazyMax]
- Rewrite all debug tools (autoupdate work now) [CrazyMax]

Don't know if anyone else picked up on this, but D3's simple series is finally coming to the Wii. The first in the series is The Table Game, which isn't too exciting, but at least it's being developed by recent Samurai Shodown developer Yuki Enterprise. Next comes The Party Game, developed by Tamsoft. I think this was The Inevitable Cash-In, and in fact I'm surprised it took so long to get up and running!
