When powered on, your Wii displays nothing but an error message, or nothing at all? We may have just the solution for your problem. There's a good chance a nifty little piece of hardware can allow you to fix your system. We call it SaveMii.
Most “bricks” are the result of poor error checking or bugs in the Wii's System Menu. For example, if you have installed a system update off a wrong region's disk, the System Menu will only display an “Opera” error message and halt without running disks anymore. SaveMii will let you break out of this condition.
SaveMii allows to skip most of the System Menu startup process, especially the part that fails and halts the boot process. Instead, it causes the Wii to directly run software off a disk. Depending on the Wii's system version, and whether your Wii has a modchip installed, this allows you to either run a system update off a legit Wii disk, or a custom-made disk containing updates or homebrew tools.
Introducing SaveMii
SaveMii is a small dongle that is plugged into a Wii's Gamecube memory card slot. It mimicks a test interface that is believed to be used in Nintendo's own facilities (dubbed “Waikiki” by Nintendo).
When the System Menu is started and such a device is found, much of the System Menu's code is skipped. Instead, the System Menu checks the validity of the disk, runs an update from the inserted disk if present, and then tries to start a diagnostic – also known “autoboot” – disk.
This will allow updates from legit Wii disks to fix the system data. Or, if the Wii's system hasn't been updated to version 3.3 yet and is equipped with a modchip, even run custom-made disks containing updates or homebrew tools to modify the system.

Konami has lifted the lid on details of the Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer, including support for the classic controller and a number of gameplay enhancements. Speaking at the PES European Finals in Rome, producer Akiyoshi 'Greyhound' Chosogabe revealed that the new game – which will be released in spring 2009 - will enable players to play the game using a conventional PES control scheme, either with a classic controller or by holding the Wii remote on its side and using the D-pad to control an individual player.
Greyhound explained that traditional controls were "deliberately left out last year to introduce the new concept", which he believes was successful in 2008's iteration of the game, but now he wanted players to experience the depth and variety offered by a classic controller. Konami then showed off the new controls during a brief demonstration, with a Man United-Barcelona clash playing out much like it would if it was running on PlayStation or Xbox.
However, Greyhound was keen to stress that the ground-breaking controls from last year's game were still very much present and that they too have been enhanced. Firstly, the defence system has been given an overhaul and while the Z button still makes your player close in for the tackle, you also control your entire defensive line using the Nunchuk's stick, moving up and down to block potential attacks.
The shooting system appears better too, with players given more control over where they place their shot. Much like before a quick shake of the Nunchuk ping off a shot, but now it's possible to pinpoint the corner of the goal you're aiming for, by holding B and using the pointer to pick a spot. However, he was keen to stress that wouldn't simply result in more goals each game, because players also have more direct control over their keepers, positioning them manually during free-kicks.
While these enhancements are certainly welcome, perhaps the biggest announcement was that PES Wii will feature a unique co-op mode that supports both control systems, with one player using last year's set-up to control the overall team and their mate using the classic controller to highlight induvudual players. During a teaser video we were shown how it works in practice, with one player knocking the ball around the midfield, using the Wii remote to knock the ball into space, while at the same time their buddy took control of a striker and made a run through the defence, manually latching onto a through ball and slotting it neatly in the net. Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to go hands-on with the new system – we're hoping that opportunity crops up tomorrow – it certainly looks promising, and adds a new level of depth to what was already one of the most authentic football experiences we've seen.
In addition to the new gameplay enhancements a handful of new modes were teased too. Champions Road has been revamped and now includes a Mii training facility, although Greyhound refused to provide any more details on what exactly it will be, saying only "an announcement will be made in the near future." What was confirmed is the inclusion of Master League, so PES pros can create their own team and take them from wannabes to winners. The edit mode will be more exhaustive too, with players able to make pretty much any change they want, plus the WiFi mode will include the option to search for players of a similar skill as well as the existing Friends and Free match options.
More details of the Mii training facility are due soon.
Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, producer of the next-gen game, also spoke briefly at the event, mentioning the inclusion of the Champions League in all versions of the game including Wii, plus the new manual select mode that gives players complete freedom over who their control and where they play them. But while he said little – he was literally on-stage for little more than a couple of minutes - we're interviewing the man behind Pro Evo tomorrow, so if you want to know more be sure to head back then.

Nintendo have granted the Wii version of Animal Crossing a European release date, and a name change that brings it line with its Australian counterpart.
Previously sporting the suffix City Folk, the newly monikered Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City is scheduled to release across Europe in December, meaning it comes soon after the US release of November 16 – a small delay in light of the two year wait that European gamers had to endure for the GameCube version.
Melding together elements of the DS and GameCube iterations while adding some innovations of its own, Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City is looking like one of the most solid propositions for the Wii this Christmas. Read more in our most recent preview, or brush up on your history with our overview of the series.

News from Nuke:
Whats new:
1. No copy flag bit in saves now removed when copying no copy flag save games.
In previous version you could copy no copy saves but it left the no copy flag bit in the save so unless you used a Hex editor you couldn't copy the save game back to your Wii. Now this bit is removed when you copy the save over. Thanks Kenobi for this patch.
You need the rebooter to copy no copy saves to SD card, but of course you can copy them back without rebooter loaded just like any other standard save.
Many thanks,
Nuke

Worried that GTA: Chinatown Wars was going to be a watered-down GTA experience? As in, toned down for the kids? No need to worry about that, as it's been revealed that not only do Rockstar have Nintendo's blessing to pitch the game at adults ("They didn’t want us to make a GTA for kids, and we weren’t interested in making a game we wouldn’t normally make), but that the game will let the player buy and sell prohibited narcotics. In a drug-dealing minigame. There's six drugs on offer, all of them real drugs, so if you're one of those strange, insecure types who like to get super-defensive in advance of sensationalist tabloid headlines, now's the time to start ensuring your hackles are raised.

Cooking Mama is a hit. Not just the gamer, either; Mama herself is a bonafide gaming starlet. So it's with little surprise that we hear Majesco are taking the short-tempered lass out of the kitchen and throwing her in the garden for another Mama series, with Gardening Mama due for release on the DS at the end of the year (in Japan, at any rate). Mama's fiery temper was a perfect fit for the kitchen in these Gordon Ramsey-heavy times, but gardening's always been a more relaxing pursuit. Wonder how she's going to adjust.

Mixed E3 impressions or not, Wii Music is coming out this October. And boy oh boy are Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and resident genius Shigeru Miyamoto excited. Thrilled, actually. In a "Creator's Voice" conversation posted on the game's official site, Miyamoto says, "I haven't really felt the happiness from making other games that I've had felt making Wii Music... I wasn't this excited while making Super Mario Bros."

It was only a matter of time before Rockstar's Nintendo DS offering Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars fell under the scrutiny of international anti-everything groups, and what better place to start than with the "ever reputable" UK news stable, The Sun, where the news of GTA DS's drug selling mini-game isn't going over so well.
Darren Gold of charity Drugsline said: “Anything using drug-dealing as entertainment is sending out the wrong message. “Glamorisation doesn’t help our work trying to educate kids of the dangers of substance misuse.”
See? Now that's two things parents should be doing but don't in one statement - educating their children about drugs and keeping them from playing mature video games. I do like the little addition that The Sun reporter slipped in at the end though. "Experts predict the final edition is unlikely to feature explicit criminality. " "Experts" have apparently never played a Grand Theft Auto title.

The Resident Evil series must be heading for a record for the number of remakes. Add another to the list as Capcom reveals plans to bring the GameCube remake of the original Resident Evil to Wii.
Obviously support for the Wii Remote and it's wavy, pointy malarkey will be added, but no other enhancements were revealed in the Famitsu report, according to translations around the web.
It will also feature support for a GameCube pad, but you're going to play it like that you might as well get a used copy of the GC version for 20p and play that on your Wii instead.
The re-re-release (it's getting silly now) is currently only due for Japan, apparently set for a Christmas day release - nothing like some festive zombie shooting.

Minoru performs Triple Triad "in beta version, adapted from the famous card game in Final Fantasy VIII.
Quote:
Description:
For those not familiar, it is a card game that is played on a 3x3 tray with a hand of five cards. Each card has four values: one for each side. The players pose a card each turn, and if the value of the card is raised above the value of an adjacent card, he returned this card. The player who has returned more cards wins the game and take one or more cards to his opponent. There are other rules that are adding chilli parties Azn
I will not dwell on the rules, there are dozens of sites explain better than I Language
Only small change: the rule Combo is separated identical rules and Plus (we can play without Same Combo - but not the reverse ...) which increases the possible combinations of rules.
The set includes a fashion adventure (solo) to play against several opponents, each with different rules, and a wireless mode to play with friends Smiley
Backups are automatic and the 33 rare cards are never permanently lost! Again defy the opponent that you took to try to recover, even after turning off the DS! You can see in the Collection menu which has the rare cards you've lost.

Steve Corey posts some news on what to expect in the next release of Wii Doom:
We're primarily working on bug fixes for the next release, and will try to enable music, also. Due to the way Doom writes all music MIDIs to the sd card before playing them, music will be disabled by default, and you'll have to enable it (somehow).

Last week, Sega opened up a teaser site for a mysterious new RPG that was being produced by Rieko Kodama of Phantasy Star fame, directed by Kazuya Niinou of Ertain Odyssey fame, and would feature music from Yuzo Koshiro of Streets of Rage fame. Famitsu managed to unearth proper details on the game, including a name and first gameplay information.
Titled 7th Dragon, this new fantasy RPG is set in the world of Eden, a world that is ruled in large part by seven dragons and their massive armies of dragon minions. The lands that are ruled by the dragons grow a special flower which sucks the life out of the land. When the whole of the planet is covered in these flowers, mankind will become extinct. The only hope for survival for mankind is to hunt down and defeat the dragons.
7th Dragon combines overhead exploration with party-based battles. During the overhead sequences, you travel through the land, visiting different continents, islands and republics. You move about on an overhead 2D map that's shown on the top screen. Meanwhile, the bottom screens houses a world map that's updated in real time to show how much of the world is controlled by dragons and how much by humans.
Battles take place from a side perspective, and feature big-headed version's of the game's characters engaging in party-based fights against large dragon foes. Your party consists of four members, but aside from that details on the battle system are a bit lacking at the moment.
Players will be able to freely create their own characters. You can select from a variety of character types, including fighter, mage, rogue, knight, samurai, healer, and princess (princess?). It also appears that you can freely select skills when creating your party members.
7th Dragon will see its full unveil at the official 7th Dragon website on the 26th. Sega will be hosting a teaser movie on that day, so those who are interested in this latest in fantasy RPG gaming should be sure and check back.
