Newly released today:
features
Play it again: Use the playback mode to see your jam recordings brought to life with dramatic camera angles.
Pick up the baton: Command an orchestra in the conducting game where you’ll wave the Wii Remote controller like a conductor’s baton to lead a Mii orchestra through orchestrated music. Make them play quickly, slowly, strongly or gently.
Ring a bell? Play a handbells game where you’ll swing your Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to play your two handbells as part of a larger ensemble. Everyone on the team has a job to do: Play one of your notes only when the tune demands it.
An ear for music: Take a tone quiz that tests your musical ear by giving you challenges, like putting note-playing Miis in order from lowest to highest pitch.
Bang the drum: Play a virtual drum set in the drumming mode, the one mode in Wii Music that also uses the Wii Balance Board accessory (sold with Wii Fit™). You’ll use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers as drumsticks, and place both feet on the Wii Balance Board—which work as virtual pedals for the bass drum and hi-hat cymbal.
description
Get ready to broaden your musical horizons and perfect that inner beat as Wii Music beats onto Wii.
Discover the sweet sounds of over 60 instruments and experiment to recreate any one of the 50 included tracks. Featuring music of all styles, from the best of the classics to cult pop, and even some gaming tunes like Super Mario Bros; and instruments including steel drums, bass guitar, the saxophone and even a barking dog, Wii Music lets everyone easily re-create and perform their own interpretations in a way the whole family can enjoy.

DSi supply appears to be scarce. Retailers like Yodobashi Camera and Softmap aren’t taking online reservations. This means even in Japan you have to go through a middleman like World Select Market on Amazon Japan to get one. The price? 35,500 yen ($382!!). No one is twisting your arm to buy a DSi for that price, but if your life depends on visiting the DSiWare store on day one and don’t have a reservation ticket in your pocket it’s going to cost you. Short supply and the declining dollar (note: we’re past the dollar for 100 yen mark) explains why importers are charging around $300 much for the handheld.
The funny thing about this launch is few Nintendo DSi specific titles has been announced. Nintendo said the DSi Web Browser will be downloadable the day the system comes out and there’s a moving notepad utility. Mini versions of Brain Age are the only announced “games” and they don’t have a date. Also, please note the Nintendo DSi is region locked. We contacted Nintendo of America for further clarification if it’s just the DSiWare Store or cartridge games (if any are being made) and are waiting on a reply.

via Eurogamer
Nintendo has updated WiiWare with three new games today, which we're also calling my birthday.
The first of these is The Incredible Maze, which is a bit presumptuous. Costs 500 Wii Points (GBP 3.50 / EUR 5) and features mazes and balance board support. The latter involves steering a ball around the maze while dodging traps and not falling off the edge.
Next up is Home Sweet Home, the solitary offering in the "Interior Design" area of WiiWare. As if designed by Carol Smilie, the idea is to redesign rooms in a weird puzzle fashion. This costs 1000 Wii Points (GBP 7.50 / EUR 10).
That's quite pricey, but not as expensive as Tetris Party, which costs 1200 Wii Points (GBP 9 / EUR 12). That's Tetris, then, but broken into mini-games with balance board support and online multiplayer for six people.
Expect our thoughts on these in prompt fashion.

While Wii Music has been getting a tepid reception, at least Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto is excited. Really, really, really excited. So excited that even after working on the game all those months, he's still rushing home to play it. When he's not playing it, he's thinking about it — a sign, Miyamoto says, that he's created a fun game. Good signs! And to those who are sadden that their favorite Nintendo songs haven't made it onto the game, Miyamoto explains:
We wanted the music to appeal to a very broad audience and if you look at the mass market, probably not nearly as many people would be as familiar with [NES/SNES] songs. We wanted to focus on songs that people will know by ear, because that in and of itself is going to make it easier to play and then improvise the songs.
That makes sense. Doesn't make it right, but makes it make sense.

Almost exactly a year ago, 381 Australian kids set the Guinness World Record for simultaneous Nintendo DS playing.
Game on! Tomorrow (Saturday October 25th) members of UK DS fan group DSLondon will try to crush those poor kids' dreams by SHATTERING the world record in a flurry of stylus swiping and button mashing as participants play any game they like for five glorious minutes.
The organizers hope to attract at least 500 DS gamers to the Rocket Complex on Holloway Road, London. I will be there with my DS, because when it comes to making children sad - Kotaku will always represent.
