That's according to Rockstar Games founder Dan Houser who tells Edge that Nintendo "didn’t want us to make a GTA for kids, and we weren’t interested in making a game we wouldn’t normally make." Houser describes Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS as "almost like a GTA version of a classic arcade game." Go on...
"I mean, GTA is about stealing cars and shooting people – how could it not be an 18 rating?" he adds. The DS game's flamethrower and, more importantly, the drug dealing mini-games (pictured), will certainly garner some attention from those concerned that a cel-shaded crime spree will corrupt our global youth.
Chinatown Wars may not have been what you were expecting, what with its tattooing touchscreen challenges and carjacking mini-games, but it certainly looks interesting. And, if we can be so bold, pretty good for a 3D Nintendo DS release. Whether it will find enough of an audience for more stylus controlled massacres, given its mature bent, we look forward to figuring out.

The Wii may see some taunting remarks from the more graphically inclined wiseacres populating the gaming landscape, but the remake of the original Klonoa for the PlayStation proves that we've come a long way, baby. Klonoa: Door To Phantomile looks thankfully (and logically) much much better than its PSone counterpart by a country mile.
It may not be as well illustrated here as it is in some of the side-by-side pics at Impress Game Watch, but the two aren't even in the same league. The eye-opening, rose glasses smashing advancements in graphics, even on something as simple as Klonoa, only make us want the Wii-make that much more. We're looking at you, Namco Bandai of America.

Despite their early doubts, the staff of Edge has, and we don't think we're exaggerating here, fallen head over Perseus shoes in love with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. You can find out exactly what the diminutive new object of their affections has to offer in this recently released, extensive preview.
For our part, we're most intrigued by the minigames, which include using the stylus to hot wire a car, even fill molotov cocktail bottles at the gas station. Our protip to Rockstar: Avoid the compulsion to add a stylus-based sex minigame. Just ... trust us on this one, OK?

Unafraid to incite elitist gamer geek unrest, respected video game industry analyst Michael Pachter has supported a prediction by GigaOM that Wii Fit will outsell Grand Theft Auto IV this year. Yeah, you read right: the latest entry into what is arguably the biggest hardcore video game franchise around is gonna get whooped by an exercise tool -- we're not shocked, we're just laughing. GTA4 was dominating at first, but with time interest has waned while Wii Fit and its included Balance Board peripheral have stayed hot despite supply shortages. Nintendo's hardware-focused strategy seems to be working; the Balance Board install base is approaching 12 million, or roughly 30% of all Wii owners. You can bet it'll be put to good use in future games and other, less mainstream applications even after folks have given up on losing weight and resigned themselves once more to lifelong loneliness.

As I discovered over a half a year ago Ignition Entertainment picked up the rights to Docomodake DS from AQ Interactive, but we’re not going to see it in stores until March 10, 2009. Docomodake DS is a puzzle game where you control NTT DoCoMo’s mascot character on a quest to save his relatives. You do this by leaping on platforms, splitting into mini Docomodakes, and occasionally throwing minis at enemies. The biggest question is Ignition plans to break a Docomodake’s cultural barrier since the key selling point in Japan was the Docomodake license. It looks like price is going to be part of their strategy since Boing! Docomodake will retail for $19.99. Boing! Docomodake DS is going to be one interesting localization to see when the English version finally out.

I was noted that this private menudo video was leaked to various site. To stop the stupid blame games, I have decided to release this leaked video instead.
Hmmm, that was supposed to be
Notes:
1. Do not complain about the shakey humpy lame cam and bad quality. This was not intended for public release.
2. This was made on late september, which means there are new features which are not in this video.
3. I dont care who leaked it earlier.
4. This would load commercial games on selected carts.
5. This was made 100% PAlib.
6. 100% Noypi!
7. Enjoy

There might be some tangible benefit to measuring your daily steps with Nintendo’s Pedometer toy. We’re not going to discuss those here because Personal Trainer: Walking introduces another feature a portable Mii-like character creator. Each of the four profiles has an assigned face which you can create by dragging lips, eyes, and other parts into place. The program reminds me of Nintendo’s 2007 GDC keynote where Mii software was shown running on the Nintendo DS. The only difference is it looks like you can make a face for the dog in the game too.
If you already have a Wii you can transfer your Mii over to Personal Trainer: Walking too. It isn’t clear if Personal Trainer: Walking will have it’s own channel like the Speaker Channel bundled with Band Brothers DX or if Nintendo will upgrade the Mii channel in the future. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time also uses Mii data so this could be the next trend in Wii/DS connectivity.

via Eurogamer
Speaking on a flying visit to London recently, Shigeru Miyamoto told Channel 4 that Nintendo intended to continue producing entertainment products that provided "very good value".
As part of a broader comment on the themes of "excessive violence" in modern videogames, Miyamoto noted: "Nintendo's mission is to take advantage of improving cheaper technology to create reasonable and affordable entertainment."
It may sound like the handy revisionism of a company enjoying unpredicted success with the Wii and DS - systems that innovated in control technology rather than graphics and processing - but Miyamoto's comments can easily be traced all the way back to Game Boy creator Gunpei Yokoi's views on "lateral thinking of withered technology".
Yokoi sought to take advantage of cheap, mature technology in the design of systems like the Game Boy, and current Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has previously acknowledged that it continues to inform the thoughts of designers working on systems like DS and Wii.
Miyamoto also reiterated his belief that "there are more ways of grabbing players' attention than violence alone" and added that he hopes "parents take advantage of the age ratings when letting their children play".

Here you are then; One hundred and sixty-six Wii Music screenshots. Don't pretend you don't want them.
Miyamoto's controversial musical instrument simulator isn't getting good reviews in the US press to be honest. But hey, it's the game you love to talk about.
Have a read of NGamer's latest hands-on here and look for it in the shops on November 14.

News/release from ErrorA:
2Dart started years ago as an online dart-scorekeeper, which I used when playing darts at home. The simple interface and lack of features always made me want to rewrite the whole bunch, but I never did.
Now, four years later, I finaly picked up the project and wrote down the new requirements. One of them includes portability, so I can use it when darting at a friend's place. At that moment I looked at my Nintendo DS, and the idea was born.
When the first version was ready, I liked it so much that I decided to share it with the rest of the world. After it's first release I kept developing new features. Now it even has a built-in game so you can still play darts, even when not around a dartboard!
Current features (version 0.6)
Scorekeeping mode
In first menu, choose NO at the question "Play darts on DS?"
Dartgame mode
In first menu, choose YES at the question "Play darts on DS?"
Left/right-handed user mode
In first menu, and you can use the select button to switch during a game
301 and 501 game mode
In second menu
Single or double player mode
In second menu
Game statistics
After every game: dart count, dart average, highest score, lowest score, etc.
Planned features
Cricket game mode
A few cricket and tactics modes, don't know whitch one yet.
Animated darts
I don't like the simple blue spots. Animator wanted!

I just release a new version of Micro Lua DS. The 2.0 beta.
Here are the changes:
- Display rate multiplied by 3
- Some changes sytaxiques
- Adding a system that allows Canvas to insert several objects there and display them in one line. The display canvas is about 100x faster than normal. I managed to display images in 5000 before a loss of FPS
- Adding a read / write INI files
- Adding a system ScrollMap. These maps show faster than conventional Maps. You can scroll to the pixel by pixel. However we can only display full screen
- A function for getTile Maps and ScrollMaps
- Bug fixes
- Improved management system errors. Now error messages all the time refer to the code of the user and more like a library (except for Sprites).
However, the system of both screens has been abandoned.

Newly released today:
features
The game is split into three modes, single play, multi play and a training mode.
Instead of changing the courses itself in the single play mode, the difficulty level is manipulated by the barrage of weapons that in turn changes the courses.
In multi-player mode, compete by flying the same course with your friend and see who collects more points. There is also a “bond mode” in multi-play, but it is still in development. Be sure to check back soon for more information.
You can set difficulty levels, your planes, remaining lives, bomb stock and auto bombs and practice in training mode. Train and devise strategies to score high marks or take down tough bosses in this mode.
If you satisfied some hidden requirements in the game, you can turn on a panel called the EVAC report where you can save, load or exchange replay data. This panel features a question and answer section called “Tell me! IKD-san!” with Ketsui's developer.
You can also distribute the demo version to your friends through the wireless networking facility.
description
Ketsui Death Label is a vertical scroll shooter that combines environmental problems, warfare with the Kamikaze spirit. The popular gaming system from its arcade predecessor is reused and the boss battles are upgraded in this DS version.
People have been polluting the environment since the late 20th century, global warming is getting so severe that in 2054, the sea level has risen so much that many coastal areas have been flooded. Although it is not the time to engage in large scale conflicts anymore, due to the loss of land, another global scaled war erupted.
The battles are getting more intense every year and this is caused by a weapon export company EVAC Industry (shortened to EI from now on). Since the company is the one reaping benefits off this war, they are not about to give up their profits no matter how many times the United Nations negotiated with them.
When a ban on weapon importing fails, to stop the war, United Nations decided to use brute force as their last measure. UN secretly organized an armed force and masqueraded it as an international rebel group. The objectives of this army is to destroy every plant and weapon belonging to the EI and to delete all evidence of UN's military intervention.
Traces of UN's intervention include the members of the armed forces as well, therefore even if they succeed in destroying EI, these members have to sacrifice themselves through death. To compensate their sacrifices, UN promised every member that their any wish will be granted.
4 young people are enlisted into the force, sustained by their wills to realize their dreams, they were sent to fight for a brighter future that they would probably never see.
