News/release from AntonioND
Hello!
This is a 3D engine, which aim is to make easier the procces of making a 3D game for the DS
Characteristics:
-Loader of models and textures from FAT.
-Dual 3D, as easy as normal 3D.
-Can load BMPs of 8, 16, and 24 bits and convert them into textures.
-Hardware-accelerated effects like fog and toon shading.
-You can take screenshots of both screens in dual 3D mode or the 3D screen in normal 3D mode.
-Animated model support.
-2D over 3D system.
-Very basic physics engine.
-API functions.
-2D text in 3D mode, any character size allowed.
TODO:
-A3I5 texture converter (3 bits of alpha, 5 bits of indexed colors).
-Improve physics engine.
-You can ask me for the things you would like to see.
Download NitroEngine
Download NitroEngine Setup
1-Copy NitroEngine folder to devkitPro folder (if not using the installer).
2-Compile it. Nitro Engine should be ready.
3-Compile one example to check everything's OK.
4-If you are planning to use it with PAlib you will have to change a bit the makefile (add -lNE to LIBS and $(DEVKITPRO)/NitroEngine to LIBDIRS).
Regards,
Antonio.
Released version 0.4.0. Changes:
-Added MD2_2_NEA <converts an MD2 model into a NEA file that can used by Nitro Engine> and MD2_2_BIN <Converts the first frame of an MD2 model into a display list>. Display lists created are really optimized.
-Updated DisplayList_Fixed. Now it can remove normal commands too.
-Added a text system. It can use fonts of any size. ^^
-Added some simple API functions (buttons, check boxes, radio buttons and slide bars).
-Fixed 2D projection.
-Removed some internal unused functions to save space, and made 'inline' some of the rest.
-Functions that used float parameters modified so they use integers now. You can still use some wrappers if you want to use floats. This will let the compiler try to optimize the code.
-Animated and static models are now the same. You can move, rotate, etc them with the same functions.
-Now, you can 'clone' models so you can save a lot of RAM if they are repeated.
-Renamed lots of model functions. Take a look at new examples or documentation.
-NE_Color struct removed (I don't even know why I created it...).
-Examples updated to work with last version and added examples of clonning models, API and text system.
-libnds' console is not inited with Nitro Engine. You will have to init it yourself with NE_InitConsole or libnds' functions.
I'm sorry, you will have to make some changes in your game's source code for this version to work, but it is worth it! ^^

News/release from bigbob85
PAlib portable is here!
A simple to use, GUI app which will copy the devkitPro folder, and patch various files to allow you to compile on machines without even install devkitPro or PAlib!!
Put this on your flash drive, cd, or whatever you want that can be easily plugged into a computer.
Plus, it comes in 4 easy downloadable files! (you only need one, you have to decide what suits you).
PAlib Portable - Minimal
The minimal edition requires you to copy the contents of your devkitPro folder to the one supplied. This is not recomended, because this may mess up patching of files (unless you use the latest structure that I use...). Eventualy on a flash drive, it'll still be the same size, so does it really matter?
PAlib Portable - Minimal.rar 1,954 KB.
PAlib Portable - Full
This is the easiest way to go, just download, extract and your all set. Comes bundled with everything (basic) you need to make DS apps/games.
PAlib Portable - Full.rar 25,185 KB.
I also forgot to mention that you need .NET (2.0 ?) installed on your system to run the GUI app.
http://www.microsoft.com/net/Download.aspx
I think .NET 3 will do backwards compatability... maybe not...
Afew things i mentioned in the readme. Copy whatever you want into the /devkitPro directory, and they'll be copied along for you. This includes emulators, tools and projects.

News/release from zzo38computer
I posted the fixed version now. Now it works correctly.
Xyds: http://zzo38computer.cjb.net/nitro2/Xyds/
XYMTOOL: http://zzo38computer.cjb.net/xym/xymtool.zip
To use XYMTOOL to patch a .nds or .ds.gba or .sc.nds file:
xymtool -f xymfilename -p xyds dsfilename
XYMTOOL includes source-code. It also includes TILEMAKR and MAPMAKER, which are used to create tile sets and maps for XY-MINI (monochrome tile mode only). 8ted can also be used to create tile sets for XY-MINI (but TILEMAKR has a few features that 8ted doesn't have). If you want to use XYMTOOL on a operating system that isn't Windows, you have to compile it using FreeBASIC.

Jayenkai has posted an update to his game for the DS:
Tweaked.
The Dpad/Buttons/Trigger combo control thing's in, and I think (!) that I solved the hovering ball issue.. Although, that seemed to be oddly random, so it might just be that my 10 mins of testing hasn't yet made it appear again!! But, I think it's gone! (Same link, from the top)
Centipong!
Already on the PC along with online highscores, "Focus" rounds, and different pod types.
I've finally gotten round to redoing it, and popping it on the DS.
Download
Centipong DS
^ This link will always be working, even after quicky bugfixes and things like that ^
Missing Features
There's no Focus round yet, but that's planned.
I've not added all the pickups in.
I've yet to add additional niceness, too. Like... The titlescreen's really really basic!
Features
Multiball!!!!
FUN!!
Music!
FUN!!!!
Sound!
FUN!!!!!!!

News via nintendomax
Here is a port chti cid2mizard, vote Newz favorite short end BigCorp What's this? An expression of chnord or Muche means hiding (much). The game is typical of the Nord Pas de Calais, each year the newspaper "La voix du Nord" organized from September to October a contest to win a house.
How to Play?
To play you just have to find the 3 objects "much" in the pictures using the stylus, the images are 256x256, so they are scrollable.
Some objects are easy to find and others are much less because of the qualities of the images, but it only increases the difficulty of the game.
Ah yes I would forget, you have right only 3 errors.
Installation:
You need to patch the rom DLDI.
Place the Roma but where you want the directory / TrucmucheDS that contains the images should be placed at the root of your Linker.
Tested OK on DS One Supercard, M3 Perfect, MK5.
Otherwise ben y'a 50 levels, it is in English and French, for right and left, but ask for more ...

New from Mr Modchips
Buy the Wiiclip for an easier install of your D2pro modchip 9 wires version!
Using one of these will greatly reduce the time it takes to install your D2pro modchip.
Now with the Wii-clip you can have your D2pro installed in minutes,
so why risk soldering to the tiny solder points on the d2c version of Nintendo Wii.
Solder the Wii-clip to the D2pro and then simply clip it into place and you are ready to go.
This can be done in less than fifteen minutes!
With practice it could be done in less than 5 minutes.
Next generation HIGH precision design, 100% working perfect and stable.
Optional 4 wires for region free.

New from Mr Modchips
The D2Prog is the USB programmer used to update the firmware of the D2Pro range of chips. This is the device you need to make sure you are always up to date with the latest firmware that have been released by the team. A good example is the 9-wire firmware update that can be used to make the installation from 19-wires down to just 9-wires. The first versions of the D2.Pro chips did not come with the SPI flash chip on the PCB which is needed for this latest 9-wire firmware from the team, so in conjunction with the D2Prog you will also need to solder a SPI flash chip onto the PCB before installation and then use the D2Prog to flash the chip with the latest 9-wire firmware
Q: What is d2prog?
A: d2prog is a tool for updating Actel A3P-family chips such as D2Pro and D2CKey.
Q: How does it work?
A: A flat cable connects the chip to the programmer (if supported), and a mini-USB connects the programmer to your computer. If the chip does not have a flat cable connection, soldered connections can be made to the jtag connectors on the chip. Software is then run on your computer to update the chip.
Q: Are the cables included?
A: Only the mini-USB cable is included. Most updateable mod-chips include a flat cable.
Q: What operating systems does the software work on?
A: The software works on most popular operating systems including a vareity of Linux distributions and MacOS X (10.4 and higher). It also works reasonably well on Windows XP with a third-party USB driver.

BmpToZlibGC 1.1 is a Windows software to use for Gamecube/Wii homebrew development.
Usage
From a command line:
BmpToZlibGC.exe <filename.bmp>
Optional -MP 0xFF00FF 0x000000 courtesy of PaceMaker's original code.
This application has been tested & fully working in WINE as well.
This application was original written by PaceMaker in 2007, and mimicked the GFX2GC code, but with open source and an extra transparency option. I've converted Bmp2GC to use the Zlib compression scheme seen in many of the Wiibrew emulators, including Snes9x-GX. By using the compress() and uncompress(), a developer can include large images into their elf files without having to bloat the program. Compression is also largely based on the complexity of the image, so large colored areas will decrease size, along with file sizes.
Note: an example file with compressed bmp will be coming shortly.

The gamecube emulator for windows gets a new release but sadly source only:
Long overdue, here is, as promised, the source code to WhineCube. It is provided as-is, in hopes that it will be useful to other emulator authors.
