WiiWare players will be called to the front lines with the impending launch of the classic turn-based strategy title Military Madness: Nectaris on WiiWare™. Published by Hudson Entertainment, the North and South American subsidiary of HUDSON SOFT, Military Madness: Nectaris will launch on WiiWare on April 12, 2010 and is currently available for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and on PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
With up to four-person online or local multiplayer available in vs. or team battles, Military Madness masters can compete with each other across the world. Multiplayer maps are also specifically designed to be balanced for 2, 3 or 4 players. The addition of the multiplayer-specific Commander unit allows players to customize their strategies before a battle by spending points to select abilities that improve the Commander unit itself, improve friendly units or disrupt enemy units.
Within a year of its original release on the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989, Military Madness won awards for “Best Military Strategy Game” and “Best War Game.” The game features two opposing forces with near-future military equipment battling it out on the Moon. Each level is a distinct map with a hex grid, on which players take turns moving their units in an effort to win by destroying all enemy units or taking over the enemy headquarters. Like the original game, Military Madness: Nectaris players strategize by the placement and movement of units, make use of terrain advantages and predicting enemy movements to outsmart the enemy. Military Madness has been rated E10+ by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
For more information on Military Madness: Nectaris, please visit the official website: www.MilitaryMadnessGame.com.

Rising Star Games is pleased to confirm that fantasy adventure game Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon will be in stores tomorrow (19th March), available exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.
In Fragile Dreams gamers take on the role of an abandoned young boy named Seto, the sole survivor in a world filled with ruined buildings and deserted train stations that's plagued by monsters and disembodied ghosts. His quest is to find survivors from the seemingly unknown event that has devastated the world he lives in.
Developer tri-Crescendo has created a beautiful post apocalyptic vision of Japan where gamers can immerse themselves in the desolation of the world and experience the acute sense of loss the lead character is experiencing.
While exploring the world, gamers must fight off ghosts and monsters with the Wiimote, which also doubles up as a flashlight and helps to solve puzzles. Throughout the game the microphone emits eerie sounds and instructions to help Seto locate items throughout the game.
"Rising Star Games is committed to bringing the best games from the east to the west and this is typified by Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon," says Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. "Crucially the game is continuing to expand the type of product available for the Wii and that's why we think it's important to bring Fragile Dreams to market in Europe."
The game is highly anticipated and has already received a 31/40 Famitsu score in its native Japan, becoming one of the top selling games during its week of release.
Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon launches tomorrow (19th March) exclusively on the Nintendo Wii.

Activision today announced that it is bringing the Endemol USA produced hit ABC TV show Wipeout to Nintendo DS™ and Wii™ this summer. Wipeout: The Game challenges fans to master speed, balance, and precision to overcome the world’s largest obstacle course while enduring the inevitable hilarious falls, sometimes at the hands of your friends and family!
“Watching ABC’s Wipeout every week on TV is outrageous fun, and viewers can't help but dream of trying the obstacles themselves,” said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “We designed the video game with this in mind. Wipeout: The Game brings all of the challenge and laugh-out-loud hilarity, without the pain.”
In Wipeout: The Game, players will prove they have what it takes to make it to the grand finale “Wipeout Zone” for their chance to be proclaimed champion. The video game features everything that people love about the hit ABC show, including commentary from the show’s hosts, John Anderson, John Henson and co-host Jill Wagner. Players will have to run, jump and dodge all of Wipeout’s various obstacles, including the brutal Sucker Punch, the beloved Big Balls, and the insanely difficult Sweeper.

Now, the countless fans who express their interest in running the Wipeout course will get their chance and they'll even be able to do so minus, the mud, foam, colored paint, cold water in the comfort of their homes.”

[Steve] wanted to do some ARM development and set his sights on the Game Boy Advance as a development package. In order to get his code onto the device he build an Arduino-based communications cable. It is necessary to have a microcontroller involved because the GBA uses a peculiar 16-bit serial communications protocol. This cable is an adaptation from the 8051-based cable developed by [Matt Evans] several years ago. [Steve's] got it working by porting the 8051 assembler over for the Arduino, but we’d recommend adding a level converter to his hardware setup to step down from the Arduino’s 5v logic to the 3.3v logic the GBA expects.
He didn’t make up a wiring diagram, but in the code comments [Steve's] laid out the connections as follows:
Arduino 8 to GBA SO
Arduino 9 to GBA SI
Arduino 10 to GBA SD
Arduino 11 to GBA SCThat’s it, follow the README in his source code package and you’re on your way to some ARM development.

March 17th, 2010, 22:05 Posted By: wraggster
Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has admitted that Nintendo is "not good" at creating "core" games, and needs to actively court third-parties to make more mature titles like BioShock 2 for the platform.
"The fact of the matter is we know we create great content for younger consumers, we know we've got great content for more casual players, and we want fantastic content for that more active player who loves Metroid or Zelda but maybe also wants something like a BioShock 2 to play as well," he told Industry Gamers at GDC.
"And we also recognize that we don't create that type of content ourselves. We're not good at it and it's not a key focus area. We want that content on our platform, so we have to court third-party developers and encourage them to make [those games]."
Asked how Nintendo might persuade third-parties, who seem increasingly sceptical about supporting the Wii, to create games for it, Fils-Aime argued that developing expensive, technically advanced core games for other platforms was not profitable.
"Developers love to create technically advanced games, and very visually stunning games, but the fact of the matter is not all of that content is selling exceptionally well either," he said.
"Look at the most recent NPD results. I'm not sure how much was invested into a game like Dante's Inferno, or how much is invested into a game like BioShock 2, but if that sales level is the best that they will do in a particular month, and it'll fall off rapidly from there, then those games aren't going to pay off their investment."

Famitsu has the scoop on Solarobo, CyberConnect2’s first Nintendo DS game takes place on floating islands inhabited by dog people, cat people, and plenty of mechs. You’re Red Savarin, one of the dog people, who travels with his younger sister Chocolat Gelato. Red is a bounty hunter who uses a mech called DAHAK-AZI03 to catch targets.
When riding DAHAK-AZ103, Red can grab things, crates and even enemies, to use as a weapon and return missiles by catching and throwing them back at enemies. On foot, Red climbs ladders, activates switches, swims, and fights with a sword.
Solarobo is scheduled to come out later this year with Namco Bandai as the publisher. Famitsu’s info box mentions 1-4 players and Nintendo Wi-Fi support, but didn’t describe any multiplayer modes.

A Washington court of appeal has ruled in favour of Nintendo and Microsoft following accusations the companies breached a patent relating to controller power conversions.
Patent holder Fenner Investments first sued the two console makers three years ago, reports Gamasutra, claiming that their devices used a design they had patented.
The patent in question is for a 'Low-Voltage Joystick Port Interface' described as an analogue stick which outputs to a digital signal - which is found in the majority of controllers for home consoles.
Nintendo was granted a favourable ruling in March last year, but Fenner appealed the decision and the case was referred back to the court.
That court ruled this week however that there was "no genuine issues of material fact" in the claims, and that "no reasonable jury could find that the accused devices of Microsoft and Nintendo" as infringing on Fenner's patent.
The patent was filed in 1998 and granted in 2001. Fenner obtained it from a company named Lucent (now Alcatel-Lucent), which holds a variety of patents that have been used in lawsuits against games companies.

News/release from M. Lucanius
Greetings one and all!
I have finally completed my project for the drunken coders winter compo… woot! AmazeDS is a randomized “perfect maze” generator (by perfect maze I mean one in which there is only one solution per maze). It features multiple maze sizes ranging from 10×10 to 150×150 cell maps. There is a timer (which does not work in emulators due to their lack of support for RTC) and high scores based on best time. All the graphics where designed by me, but the song was acquired from jamendo. The current song may or may not be the final one.

janmulder has updated Ballywally for the DS:
My new game is called BallyWally.
The intention is to get the Ball in the hole.
The only way to do that is to turn the rectangle.
In the Menu you can choose:
Full: Play the game and try to unlock new levels (last level is 5 for now).
Level: Choose a level to play (you first need to unlock them).
Save: Save the game (records and unlocked levels).
Records: Shows the records on the top screen.
In the Levels you can press Back to go back to Menu.
The rectangle shows you how the plate is turned (3D).
A message appears when something happens.
I guess that was it.
