Pate has today released a new version of his Dos emulator for the Nintendo DS which is a version of DSx86 for the SuperCard DSTwo flash cart:
Changes in DS2x86 0.05
The major improvements and fixes in this version are the following:
Preliminary support for high resolution EGA/VGA modes 640x200, 640x350 and 640x480 added. NOTE! Scaling does not work properly in these modes yet.
Implemented preliminary support for Mode-X mode 360x240 (for the Settlers game).
Implemented a lot of missing opcode variations, now a majority of the most common opcodes have been implemented, but many rare opcodes are still missing.
Increased the EMS memory size to 4MB, which allows Elder Scrolls: Arena to start up.
You can now switch between the configuration sections in the INI file on-the-fly, by clicking on the current configuration name.
Fixed a stack alignment problem in overlay loading, which caused an "Exception 5" error in some programs.
Fixed a bug in SETZ opcode, which caused Warcraft to hang when giving a command to dig gold. NOTE! It is recommended that you play Warcraft with "no sound", as the SoundBlaster emulation in DS2x86 seems to cause intermittent freezes and crashes.
Fixed a bug in division-by-zero interrupt handling, which caused Formula One: Grand Prix to fail.
Please send me the debug logs from this version again, they are very helpful when I improve DS2x86!
DSx86 progress
During the past week I also started working on the 286 protected mode features for the original DSx86, specifically when running in DSi mode. Since Windows 3.0 needs HIMEM.SYS to be installed when running in Standard Mode (meaning the 286 protected mode), I started by implementing the HIMEM.SYS features. The next (rather big) step is to change the memory access methods to support accessing memory beyond the first megabyte of RAM. This will sadly make the code slightly slower, as I can not keep all the needed variables in registers any more. This difference should not be anything major, though. I plan to release the next DSx86 version only after I have made this change, so no new DSx86 version today, sorry.
I had partly forgotten how easy and fast it is to work with devkitARM and libnds, after working for over half a year with the DSTwo SDK. You can build the software straight from the Programmer's Notepad, and after that you can test the build using No$GBA. The whole thing takes a few seconds. With DS2x86 it takes nowadays a bit over 8 minutes to FTP-transfer a new build to the DSTwo cart, which is the only place where the new build can be tested. So, I'm very much looking forward to moving my main development focus back to DSx86. I still need to work on improving DS2x86 also for quite a while, though.

Sandbox Engine DS-DSi is a work in progress 3D engine homebrew for the DS made by t377y000. While it's not required to play, it was made with the Sudoku exploit and Cyclo iEvo DSi mode in mind. Join the discussion linked below for more information about this project.
Sandbox Engine DS-DSi Beta 10%
For now its just the basic walk around & scenery. There are basic physics, there's fog, & you can change the scenery texture. There's also a H2 hummer randomly driving around the game, lol. The controls are simple & displayed on the top screen (the controls were on the bottom screen, I'm working on a new code to put them back).

Hiyun City is trendy and ultra-modern, explore it as the smart and cool protagonist. Get new Pokemon balls and tools in the Pokemon Centers. You can also get drinks from the handy vending machines around the corner of every street. There are more 3D graphics and dynamic camera movements to give you the full view of the city, your Pokemon and your enemies. Invite your friends into the game and show off your collection. If you want to connect to the players from other areas, you can upload your game data onto the internet and see if anyone could beat your records.

"I always wanted to make a flight-simulation game," designer Shigeru Miyamoto confessed in a new edition of Nintendo's Iwata Asks column. The Nintendo president seemed confused by that admission, reminding Miyamoto that he had worked on Pilotwings.
Apparently, Pilotwings wasn't the kind of flying game Miyamoto had in mind. "That game was about you enjoying the flying experiences," he said. "It's a bit different from the kind of flight-simulation game I wanted to make." Instead, the designer has wanted to create what gamers would consider a realistic or hardcore sim, not unlike Microsoft Flight Simulator. "The difficulty level is high with these simulators when we see them as video games, but that difficulty is one of the greatest charms for them," Miyamoto added.
Although Nintendo's games typically appeal to the mass market, Miyamoto expressed his long-standing desire to make a complicated game. "I wanted to make some kind of simulator where you would control something huge, but they beat me to it," he said, referring to Capcom's Steel Battalion game on the original Xbox, which included a controller with about 40 buttons (pictured above). "I felt so mortified when that was released."
Steel Diver may not be Miyamoto's long-desired flight simulation game, but it's a close approximation of his original vision. "Controlling a submarine is like a slower version of a flight-simulation game," he joked. The game may not include its own Steel Battalion-esque controller, but Nintendo can at least "put lots of dials" on the 3DS touch screen.

TT Games producer Nick Ricks has revealed that the recently announced Nintendo 3DS version of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will be a direct port of the Wii version.
Speaking at GDC, as reported by Siliconera, Ricks revealed that the team was using the same assets created for the Wii version of the game.
Ricks also characterised the 3DS as having "roughly the same power as a Wii," with superior lighting effects. The 3DS version is able to run at 60 frames per second in 2D mode and 30 frames per second in 3D mode.
The game will use the 3DS to highlight collectible items via stereoscopic 3D and will also make use of the console's StreetPass mode. This will primarily consist of a stone-paper-scissors style game, but it will also be the only way to unlock some characters and costumes.
TT Games continues to enjoy considerable success with its licensed Lego titles, with a new Star Wars game due for release this month. As a result the developer, now owned by Warner Bros, was able to extend its licensing agreement with the Danish toy company until 2016.

Speaking at GDC, Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis Division development head Hideki Konno has discussed how the concept of the 3DS console initially met with strong resistance at Nintendo.
Konno explained that although he has traditionally been concerned primarily with software, the success of Wii Fit led Nintendo to push for greater collaboration between hardware and software teams.
As reported by Gamasutra, Konno described how he was handed the 3DS project in 2008: "This was the beginning of my journey into the unknown. I believe that being consistently curious about things provides us with the driving force to learn and grow."
According to Konno the team identified three major goals for the device: portability, being able to connect to other users, and getting something new every day.
Konno also emphasised that when original conceived the 3DS did not feature a stereoscopic 3D display. Following the infamous failure of the Virtual Boy, he revealed that there was understandably strong resistance to the feature within Nintendo.
"When we said to them, how about 3D, they didn't believe in the potential right away. Most of the people we spoke with took a defensive stance," he recalled. Doubters were won over with a series of technology demos, including a version of Mario Kart Wii running in 3D.
"I believe we were able to instantly capture the emotions of everyone," said Konno. "When we heard, 'We will be able to bring this to market' and 'The time for 3D has arrived,' we were extremely happy."
The 3DS launched to strong sales in Japan last weekend, with European and North American releases coming before the end of March.

Today has seen the release of an External USB DVD Drive for Wii, im not sure if this can be used instead of a broken internal drive but certainly seems interesting, might also be very handy for Homebrew on the Wii without knackering up your original Drive, the release site states this can be used for other means, but we at DCEmu are not interested in piracy at all, but for homebrew and if you have a broken internal DVD Drive this does seem interesting

We didn't expect to get news about Pilotwings Resort during a Donkey Kong Country Returns panel, but here it is. During Retro Studios' GDC postmortem, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe cited two other American developers that Nintendo works with: Next Level Games, which made Punch-Out for Wii, and ExciteTruck/ExciteBots developer Monster Games -- which he said is working on Pilotwings Resort.
Until now, it seems that this detail had been a secret (and Pilotwings creator Nintendo EAD had been assumed to be the Resort developer) -- or, at least, it just wasn't mentioned.
Resort isn't the first Pilotwings game to be co-created with an American company: Nintendo EAD worked with Paradigm Simulations for the Nintendo 64 sequel.

SEGA has revealed the five Game Gear games it will make available to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console when it launches in May.
They are Sonic & Tales 2, Sonic Drift 2, The GG Shinobi, Dragon Crystal Shirani's Maze, and Columns.
SEGA failed to reveal pricing while announcing the lineup, according to Andriasang.
At the Game Developers Conference yesterday Nintendo announced that a worldwide 3DS update will roll out in late May that adds the DSiWare service and the ability to transfer your existing DSiWare games to 3DS.
The Nintendo 3DS web browser and eShop will also be added. At the eShop you will be able to buy Virtual Console games - like old Game Boy, Game Boy Colour, Game Gear and TurboGrafx games - as well as 3D Classics, which are fully remastered 3D versions of old games.
"This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Game Gear system, and we believe that releasing these titles on the groundbreaking Nintendo 3DS is a great way to commemorate the occasion," said Haruki Satomi, vice president of Digital Business at SEGA of America.
"Both new fans and those with fond memories of time spent playing their Game Gear will surely find something to love in our upcoming lineup of Nintendo eShop titles."

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has acknowledged that the company's online services must improve, and has stated that there will be a raft of improvements coming with the launch of the 3DS.
Speaking during his GDC keynote, Iwata stated his belief that the new handheld's connectivity options would "will make owners want to carry their 3DS systems around with them, just to find out what new game elements have been passively transferred to them."
But he conceded that so far, the company's efforts had been disappointing.
"I must admit that in the overall area of wireless communication and digital downloads Nintendo can do better," he said. "To date our WiiWare and DSi services have not operated as well as they should."
During the keynote, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime announced two key partnerships for the US in an attempt to boost its offerings, with 10,000 AT&T wireless hotspots to be created, while Netflix members will be able to stream movies and other content via the 3DS platform.
Additionally, he noted, 3DS owners will be able to seamlessly transfer their viewing from the handheld to their Wii console and big screen, should they so desire. A new 3D Super Mario title was also teased, with more information set to follow at this year's E3.
The Nintendo 3DS launches in the US on March 27 - shortly after Europe - with a retail price of $249.99.

Epic's game making technology Unreal Engine 3 works on everything – except the Nintendo 3DS.
"There's only so much time in the day; our engine requires a certain level of hardware capabilities to make our pipeline, our tools work - and we work on the ones that do," vice president Mark Rein told Joystiq at the Game Developers Conference.
"The second Nintendo releases a piece of hardware that can run our engine well, we'll be on it like water on fish."
Unreal Engine-made games run on almost every conceivable platform – even those yet to be released.
At a Tokyo press conference in January, the Gears of War maker showed Unreal Engine working on the Next Generation Portable – Sony's PlayStation Portable successor.
But there's no love for the Nintendo 3DS.
"There's nothing against Nintendo," Rein continued. "I hate that people somehow think that's the case.
"If we felt it could run [Unreal Engine] and deliver the kind of experience people license our technology to build, we'd be on [the 3DS]."
