Hardware peripheral specialists Nyko has unveiled the Power Pack+, its solution to the 3DS's modest, much maligned battery life.
The add-on promises to double the handheld's reported three hour capacity. You'll need to clip your 3DS onto the unwieldy cell to take advantage of the added power, although Nyko has included "debossed finger rests for improved control and comfort."
"Every new console or game system launch is an opportunity for us to find ways to improve the user's experience with the device through innovative technology," said Nyko markting man Chris Arbogast.
"We are proud to be able to bring our robust knowledge of charging technology to the 3DS user base by providing users the ability to substantially increase their play time."
The Power Pack+ launches in the US on 27th March for $19.99 - the same day as the console itself. Nyko hasn't confirmed UK details yet.

Robots that are able to find a charger and plug themselves in may not be that unique anymore, but most of those chargers tend to leave the robot with little to do while it replenishes its batteries. Not so with this new charger developed by Aldebaran Robotics for its Nao robot, which basically consists of a retractable extension cord that leaves the robot free to continue interacting with its owner, or simply sit down and chill out as the case may be. What's more, while that comes from Aldebaran itself, we're also now starting to see some results out of the company's new developer program, and it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that one of the first standout projects involves Wiimote and Kinect controls. Head on past the break to see both it and the new charging station on video.

In a world full of cheap, plastic Wiimote accessories, aisles that overflow with flimsy little steering wheels for Mario Kart, one man found purpose. One man found something good to do with them. One man created the ridiculous contraption you see above. That man is Jack Malone, crafter of this the so-called EVOtainment System. It's a Wii racing wheel from Nerf that's been drilled out and augmented to enable a Classic Controller to join the party, backed with a strip of 3M Dual Lock. Up top a universal GPS mount clings desperately on to his HTC EVO, which connects over Bluetooth to the Wiimote. It's emulatory bliss in a design that's only a little bit less chunkier than the Game Gripper.

Wii title Just Dance 2 has sold over one million copies in the UK alone, publisher Ubisoft has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz.
While perhaps not achieving the immediate headline figures of the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Red Dead Redemption, the Ubisoft Paris-developed rhythm game has been a staple in the retail top ten for much of the past year.
Said a spokesperson, "Ubisoft is proud to confirm that Just Dance 2 has passed the 1 million barrier in the UK.
"Globally the franchise, which includes Just Dance, Just Dance 2 and Just Dance Kids (Dance Junior in UK) has tallied 10 million copies."
Just Dance 2 was released in Europe on October 14 2010, and as of last week was number five in the UK retail charts.

Ratings board PEGI has defended the award of a 12 certificate to Ubisoft's adult party game We Dare, pointing out that although the marketing campaign has centred on titillation and suggestive themes, the game itself is fairly mild.
A trailer released for the title last month leaves little doubt as to the intended adult audience for the game, a stance which Ubisoft openly embraces.
"We Dare is intended for a mature audience and Ubisoft created its marketing campaign accordingly," the French publisher told Cubed3.
"The PEGI ratings system is decided upon by a pan-European body and the rating for this game was bestowed by the independent PEGI board. Ubisoft has added a 'Parental Discretion Advised' sticker to the game in order to ensure that parents are informed of the potential sensitive nature of the game content."
PEGI's response to enquiries from the blog were less forthright, claiming that it had to judge suitability based on content, not context, and also alluding to varying standards within the borders of its Europe-wide constituency.
"Since PEGI is a Pan European system, the questionnaire is designed to meet varying cultural standards in all the member states. So for example, mild violence may not be a very shocking element in your country, but the swearwords in some games may be," read a PEGI statement.
"PEGI does not take into account the context of a game when rating it, we only look at the contents of the game. [We Dare] has been rated as a PEGI 12 because it contains mild swearing, minor assault on a human-like character and words/activities that amount to obvious sexual innuendo, explicit sexual descriptions or images and sexual posturing."
Whilst the rating raises an interesting issue over intent vs content, the UK press have pounced upon the story as an example of lax content controls in videogame sales, with The Sun claiming that the game is marketing sexual content directly to 12 year olds.
Interestingly, Ubisoft has completely ruled out a US release for the game, even to the point of region-restricting the YouTube advertisements for the game to European territories.
The UK is currently awaiting a ruling on the nature of PEGI's ratings, a decision which has been delayed until further notice.

With only Kirby's Epic Yarn and Mario Sports Mix to shout about, it's been a lean year for Nintendo-published Wii titles so far. What's more, aside from than Zelda: Skyward Sword, it seems there's very little for users to look forward to either.
So what gives? Has Nintendo given up? Not at all, says Nintendo US boss Reggie Fils-Aime - it's just had its hands full with the 3DS.
"We have had to effectively prepare for the launch of 3DS as well as effectively prepare for the launch of Pokémon Black and White," he told IGN.
"Candidly, we've pushed out some Wii launches so we can focus on our handheld business. We're already juggling two big balls. To add a third would be a little bit challenging. Or a fourth or a fifth."
Reggie then offered reassurance that new titles were coming. Some will see the light of day before the annual E3 event in June, and some will be revealed there.
"We're waiting to space things out and let Pokémon Black and White and 3DS live and breathe out there. But there's content coming and we'll be sharing more in the weeks ahead. We'll be bringing some content out before E3 and then certainly at E3 we'll be sharing some news."
The only other confirmed Nintendo-published titles on the horizon are a new Kirby game and a new Rhythm Heaven title. Another possibility is Mistwalker's The Last Story RPG, though at present,Nintendo has announced no plans to localise it.

March 8th, 2011, 02:37 Posted By: wraggster
Nintendo developer Hideki Konno has revealed that Nintendo has a version of Super Mario Galaxy that runs in stereoscopic 3D which, without hesitation, we'd trade our mums in exchange for a change to play.
Konno says that, in order to convince the suits at Nintendo that 3D was the way to go it knocked together 3D versions of a number of Wii games that prove what a difference it makes to the game.
We had previously heard about this having been done with Mario Kart Wii, along with Luigi's Mansion on GameCube and even a 3D GBA SP, but it turns out Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports and Animal Crossing on Wii were also among those experimented with.
"In order to convince them of the potential of using 3D graphics, we took a special LCD screen and hooked it up to a Wii," Konno told Kotaku.
"We were able to play Mario Kart Wii on a 3D screen and we were also able to do a number of other experiments, again, sort of exploring the potential of how it could affect gameplay. For example we worked with Animal Crossing, Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports as well," he added.
Konno says Wii Sports Golf was particularly effective in backing up Nintendo's belief that 3D gaming can actually give players real gameplay advantages thanks to the added depth perception.
"One thing that was particularly impactful was on Wii Sports golf," he said. "When you got to the green, you were actually able to see the undulation of the green itself and were able to understand the distance between you and the hole and how the terrain rolled up or down, side-to-side and whatnot.
"And not just on the greens, but on the fairway. If you were looking at a course that sloped down or had a precipitous upgrade, looking at that in 3D really brought that impact out and made it stronger."
Okay Konno, but where's that 3D copy of Super Mario Galaxy 3D? Can we have it?

UPDATE: A Nintendo spokesperson issued the following statement to Eurogamer: "We do not discuss product security details (for obvious reasons), nor can we discuss the details of countermeasures available in the Nintendo 3DS system.
"Nintendo 3DS has the most up-to-date technology. The security has been designed to protect both the creative works in the software and to protect the Nintendo 3DS hardware system itself."
ORIGINAL STORY:The Nintendo 3DS may remember each time a flash cart-pirated game is played.
And if it can do that, Nintendo can pin-point which systems have been used illegally and disable them via firmware.
Japanese shop Enterking warns buyers about this on its website (via GoNintendo):
"Dear customers who resell Nintendo 3DS," a roughly translated open letter reads.
"Non-purchase able 3DS system: if you use equipment which is illegal or unapproved by Nintendo or if you do customisation which is unapproved by Nintendo, there is a possibility that Nintendo 3DS becomes non-bootable by system update."
"Because of terms of agreement above, Enterking refuses to buy 3DS system with a record of illegal or unapproved equipment.
"To protect from leaking your personal and internet connection information," the warning adds, "we ask customer to format system."
Nintendo had huge problems with the R4 flash cart, which could store hundreds of downloaded DS games obtained illegally online at no cost. The infamous R4 cart was eventually outlawed in the UKlast summer, following a ban a year earlier in Japan.

If you needed another reason to acquire the renovated, 3DS version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time -- other than the fact that it's a pretty port of the best game of all time -- this might just win you over. In a video interview with , a Nintendo of America representative demoing the title at GDC revealed that the cartridge will contain both the original game and the slightly-more-difficult Master Quest.
Check out the video below to see the interview in question, and to see Link just stand around in the Deku Tree for a couple minutes. What are you doing loitering inside of old, sentient trees, dude? You've got Spiritual Stones to collect.

If you head on over to the Modded By Bacteria message boards you'll find that forum member Hailrazer has put together a little somethin' that he likes to call the N64Boy Advance. And like all successful mods, not only does the thing look good, it also boasts tweaks suited to the builder's tastes: he uses a Gamecube joystick instead of one from a Nintendo 64 controller, he's decreased the smaller trigger buttons (which our man hardly ever uses), and done away with the d-pad altogether (ditto). The case itself is an old Game Boy Advance carrying case (with the N64 board cut down to fit) and speakers, a 4.3-inch display, and a couple camcorder batteries thrown in for good measure. Of all the modes we've seen fromHailrazer, this might be out favorite yet! See for yourself after the break.

March 7th, 2011, 22:34 Posted By: wraggster
Nintendo reckons 85 per cent of the UK will have seen its Nintendo 3DS TV advertisements at least three times in the run up to the handheld's 25th March launch.
It hopes half a million Brits will have gone hands-on with the glasses-free 3D device before release, too.
"The campaign is a celebration of the 3D experience," UK marketing director Dawn Paine toldMCV.
"There are two key elements: experiential and advertising. What will be a departure for us is how we fuse them together, in a way we haven't done before.
"In the campaign we will be showing consumers, real people, getting their first hands-on with 3DS at one of the events. And that in turn drives the people who see the ads to the sampling push. It's a virtuous circle.
"It's very fresh and different – and very, Nintendo, because it's all about genuine reactions, there is nothing fake or over-stated, it's all real."
Nintendo has freely admitted it faced a challenge getting the 3D visuals message across to consumers.
"The greatest charm of the Nintendo 3DS system, including the 3D images, is very difficult to convey just through the TV or the internet," Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata said last week. "Of course, we have tried very hard to do so, and we did our very best in the demonstrations. But I think it would be most ideal for the people who purchase it to try to tell others what they like about it."
Nintendo's UK TV ads don't show the 3DS' 3D content in 2D - a move it believes will help sell the device.
"There's always a question about how you execute a 3D product in 2D," Paine said. "That's where the consumer reactions come into play. It's not about the intricacies of the technology. The fact you can't see it on screen will tease and push people to trying it for themselves."
It appears Nintendo has been successful – the UK should have enough launch stock to go around, but UK shop GAME warned last week if excitement builds then Nintendo 3DS sell-outs are a real possibility.

Pinpingho offers a first draft of " Simple Quest , "Old School RPG for the Nintendo DS.
if your card doesn't support argv[0], please place the nds file at the root of the directory and don't change the file name.
As the name suggested "Simple Quest DS" is a really, really simple RPG game. All you do is pretty much moving with control pad and confirm with (A).
I did pretty much everything, other than music, by myself(including the sprite and tiles. Well, I know they suck...).
The game will auto save at the end of every battle. However, if you choose a new game, the old save will be erased.
* Controls:
o Control pad: move
o A Button: confirm
