Mega Man 3 will launch on the 3DS Virtual Console next week, March 14 to be exact, according to a Capcom Unity update. What's more, Mega Man 4, 5 and 6will launch in subsequent months.
Capcom notes that by the time Mega Man 6 heads to the 3DS eShop, it will make digital versions of each game's soundtrack available for purchase. No prices were announced for the games, though Mega Man 2 landed on the 3DS eShop just one month ago for $4.99.

An image that appears to reveal a new Assassin's Creed project has found its way online. But what is Assassin's Creed: Rising Phoenix? It's unclear if this is a new game or spin-off.Ubisoft's best-selling series has regularly been expanded via tie-in books, comics and short films. The background of the image appears to be CG, with the logo of the Erudito Collective (a group which opposes series baddies Abstergo Industries) clearly visible.Text on the image mentions "Ubisoft Digital Arts", a section of the company that previously worked on live-action Assassin's Creed 2 tie-in AC: Lineage.Ubisoft may be planning a similar project to link in with this year's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. We know that the modern day portion of the game takes place within Abstergo's walls and that players will take on the role of a researcher within the company. It's the latest in a string of Ubisoft leaks, which saw details of the recently-announced Black Flag appear online before the game's official unveiling.Eurogamer has contacted Ubisoft for more information.

Mario creator and Nintendo senior managing director Shigeru Miyamoto has said the firm will release a Wii U update to improve the system's interface performance 'by this summer'. "Since the system was released, we've spent a great deal of time looking at how people are using it and where they feel it can be improved, and we're currently continuing out preparations for this first major system update that's coming," he said in an interview with Time."What we want to do is make sure that when we release it, that we address as many of the different opinions about how people would like to see the system improve as we can at once. We hope to cover a wide range of requests while simultaneously ensuring it's a very stable update to the system," said Miyamoto. The Wii U's system user interface has been widely criticised for its long load times when switching between games, on-board applications and menu screens.Speaking during a Nintendo Direct broadcast in January, company president Satoru Iwata apologised to Wii U owners who believe the loading times between selecting a game and playing it are far too long.Without offering a definitive date, Miyamoto said, "We think that by this summer, the system is going to be very much improved over how it's performing currently."Miyamoto recently told press that Nintendo is working on at least one project that will utilise the Wii U GamePad's built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) functionality as a matter of high priority.

Umihara Kawase is a bizarre series about a young girl with a fishing line. It's been released on Super Famicom, PlayStation, DS and PSP in Japan, and nowhere here – though there are ways to get it. It's the kind of gameplay you know from Bionic Commando, but focused entirely on the grappling.
Members of the original team have reunited for a sequel on 3DS, Famitsureports. Called Sayonara Umihara Kawase, the latest release appears to maintain everything that makes the series what it is: insanely complex grappling/line physics, weird fish enemies, and abstract level designs.
The new version adds multiple versions of the main character, including a 20-year-old Umihara, and unlockable costume items for completed levels. The 3D character models don't look great, but this game was never much to look at anyway.
A new Umihara game is exciting in its own right, but it's also another opportunity for someone to localize it. Natsume tried with the PSP version, but it never happened – and that was probably a wise choice given how that game turned out.

Multiple ratings for Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse indicate the classic Sega-developed Genesis platformer is getting a digital re-release. An Australian Classification Board rating for a PS3 game by the same name popped up this week, while Pockett.net spotted Brazilian classification ratings from last month for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Vita.
A couple of other Sega retro games turned up with ratings recently; we sawmultiplatform ratings for Game Gear platformer-puzzler Tails Adventure earlier this week, which was soon followed by an ACB rating for fellow Game Gear entry Crystal Warriors - thatcame to Japan's 3DS eShop last month.
It seems likely Tails Adventure and Crystal Warriors are headed for the 3DS Virtual Console in the west. However, bearing in mind Sega's penchant for bundling retro re-releases,does Castle of Illusion point towards an 'Illusion' collection, with Land of Illusion and World of Illusion also on the way? Let's hope so, if only for all the Arrested Development clips we could link to.

F-Zero GX for GameCube was one of a pair of games. It was released concurrently with F-Zero AX, a game designed for the Sega/Namco/Nintendo "Triforce" arcade platform, which connected to the home game via memory cards to unlock tracks. AX had arcade-style timed gameplay, along with those tracks.
Well, not only are AX tracks accessible in GX via memory card (and impossible-to-find arcade game), modder "Ralf" found that the full code for the arcade game is hidden on the GameCube disc – and accessible with a series of codes for the Action Replay cheat device. The long list of codes is found on The Cutting Room Floor (a site which, if this is your first visit, you're welcome).
Now, someone go peek in Mario Kart: Double Dash and see if Arcade GP is in there.

Japanese Wii U consoles have run into a nasty error involving the eShop: error code 105-3102. Essentially it blocks the console from the eShop, but also prevents affected consoles from updating their firmware. Nintendo is currently working on a fix, the company stated. In the above video, prominent Japanese YouTuber MEGUMIbernadette demonstrates the issue on her Wii U console. As you can see, accessing the eShop is impossible with error code 105-3102. Nintendo is hoping to issue a fix "by the end of this week." As of now, this problem seems to be isolated to Japanese Wii U consoles, but if you've been hit and you're outside of Japan, feel free to drop us a line.http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/07/er...-updating-fir/

[Brian] has brought together a powerful collection of hardware to build a robot. The end goal is to have a robot that’s controlled by a Wiimote.
The Wiimote communicates over Bluetooth with a Raspberry Pi, which is running a Python script. This script uses the CWiid Python module to communicate with the controller, and [Brian] has detailed instructions on getting the Wiimote working with a RPi. The RPi controls an ATmega based development board over SPI, which drives an h-bridge to control the two DC motors that move the robot.
[Brian]‘s code for this could be helpful for anyone looking to control their RPi with a Wiimote. Since Wiimotes and Bluetooth dongles are fairly cheap nowadays, this is a great way to drop in wireless control to any RPi project, or even to control your media center from the couch.
After the break, check out a video of the build in action
