Aksys Games has announced a North American release for the latest entry in Arc System Works' Guilty Gear fighting series, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core. Based on the arcade version of the same name, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core will arrive on PlayStation 2 and Wii later this fall.
Featuring entirely redone voice work and character sprites over past iterations, Accent Core also adds two new characters--A.B.A and Order-Sol-- and three new gameplay mechanics--Force Break, Throw Escape, and Slash Back.
Exclusive to the Wii version are what today's announcement called "waggle controls," allowing players to activate fighting moves by performing gestures with the Wii Remote. The Wii version will also support traditional non-waggle controls through support for GameCube and Wii Classic controllers.
"Accent Core is definitely a game for the elite fighting game connoisseur, with its wickedly fast, technique oriented gameplay," explained Aksys Games producer Michael Manzanares. "Guilty Gear veterans will definitely enjoy finding out all the intricacies of their favorite characters and mastering all the new gameplay enhancements and systems."
Upon its release last month, the Japanese PlayStation 2 version of the game was reported to be extremely buggy. Developer Arc System Works issued an open apology for the issues. Shacknews has sent inquiries to Aksys Games regarding potential improvements for the North American releases.
Update: An Akysys Games representative has confirmed to Shacknews that the North American PS2 edition of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core will address the issues present in the Japanese version.

Blue-Knight posted this update to his Xcom DS project:
An update. I have tile selection working on the map, doors working and a work in progress version of the UI. I provided some screenshots showing the UI, tile selection and working door. I need to resize the UI, but would prefer to use the original art without actually shrinking it. I'm thinking of removing the weapon slots on the sides and doing something else for the weapon select. I also should compact the height somehow in order to have more map space. What do you guys/gals think?
Edit - looking at it again, the verticle space isn't that much smaller then the game, you lose about as much space with this UI (percentage wise) as horizontal space (due to screen width difference). So I'll probably keep the height of the current UI and just put in alternatives for the weapon select on the sides.
I'm also working on getting the soldiers/aliens working, as I said before, I'll post some screenshots of them soon

And hello again all,
Yes it has been a while since I updated this little gem but it was worth it. I've added a lot of new developements like DLDI, DS-slot mods (covering nearly all available DS products), GBA-slot mods (nearly covering all products here too) and more (including some general fixes) and here is the new updated version of my Beginners Guide To DS homebrew.
If you wish to contact me read the guide for details (or go to my blog at http://blog.scorpei.com/)

I've put quite a lot of work in this baby and I have to say I really like the outcome. Though this will probably not appeal much to people who are already deep into the world of DS homebrew it might still be an interesting read. Aside from that I hope that this (new update) will allow people to easier enter the scene and enjoy the DS to it's fullest with great applications and games!
Download link
So if you know people interested in DS homebrewing, or feel like spreading the word please do .
Cheers,
Scorpei

Run don't walk to Virtual Console this week for the chance to download 1989's Mega Man (NES, 500 Wii Points) and TurboGrafx-16's China Warriors (600 Wii Points). Then come back here and watch us struggle to fill the next two paragraphs.
Both games were released in 1989, but that's not all they have in common! Both involve defeating enemies! And probably jumping! Mega Man certainly does. It's a platform-hopping battle to power up and then tackle each stage's final boss on the way to a showdown with Dr Wily and his robot army. Exclamation mark exclamation mark one one one shift.
Meanwhile, China Warrior - once acclaimed for its groundbreaking graphics, according to Nintendo - is about fighting across the country (China, presumably) until everyone's dead and you're the ultimate warrior. Which is a pants description, but in my defence Wikipedia doesn't know any better. Watch out for a more informed rundown about what works and doesn't in these two when Dan pops up with another Virtual Console Roundup today or tomorrow.

Ever wanted to be a dragon? Yes I thought so. And so, evidently, did D3Publisher of America, whose new game Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire will allow you to achieve your goal when it comes out exclusively on the Wii in the autumn.
Developed by the agreeably named Land Ho! company, Dragon Blade uses a two-handed Wii control scheme to emulate the dragon's arms, wings, tail, fire "and more". On the screen, it's a third-person hackandslash, but let us refer your waning enthusiasm again to the bit where you get to flap your arms and generally be a dragon.
"Dragon Blade is one the few hackandslash games that will be available on the Wii this fall and the development team, Land Ho, has done a great job to fully utilise the Wii controls so players will experience parallel movement between themselves and the game avatar like never before," said Yoji Takenaka, executive vice president and chief operations officer, D3PA.
"With its arcade style pick-up and play gameplay, we expect Dragon Blade to appeal to gamers of all ages," he added, a bit redundantly. They might enjoy the story, too, which has been penned by Richard A. Knaak, who is best known for the Dragonlance novels, and has also written novels about Diablo and Warcraft for Blizzard.

News/release from Dark Knight ez:
This wifi-loader program should work with any slot-1 card, as long as you have the EZ-Flash 3-in-1 card inserted in slot-2.
This wifi loader is a quick upgrade of the EZ-Flash IV wifiloader created by Micah Dowty.
If you're familiar with that program, you'll know how to use this.
Basicly what it does is...
The program registers itself on a wifi access point as a certain IP address.
It will then accept a .ds.gba file you send at that IP address at port 6502.
The sending itself is done with netcat.
The .ds.gba will actually be stored on your EZ-Flash 3-in-1 card's PSRAM in your slot-2, and then loaded from it.
Now, once you've transmitted the entire program... kill the sending program (Ctrl+C) so the connection is terminated, and the wifi-loader program on your DS will know it has received all data.
Then you can press any button to start up the transferred .ds.gba, which will then be copied from the EZ-Flash 3-in-1 card to the DS's main RAM and booted.

Kyoto, Japan-based Nintendo's shares, driven by the success of the DS and the Wii, closed up 1.4 percent today in Tokyo at 44,500 yen (approximately $360).
The latest growth in the share price now brings the Mario Factory's market capitalisation--the cumulative value of its stock--to 6.30 trillion yen ($51 billion), reports Reuters. This takes it past Panasonic parent Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.'s 6.23 trillion yen ($50 billion) and has it closing in on Sony's 6.64 trillion yen ($54 billion).
Over the last two years, Sony's stock has gained 72 percent, outperforming the Nikkei's average of 59 percent. Nintendo shares have also jumped, some 300 percent over the same time period.
Analysts reacted to the news positively. KBC Securities analyst Hiroshi Kamide said, "Nintendo is a market leader in everything it does now, which is basically the handheld as well as the console gaming market. We haven't seen Nintendo being a market leader in both products in over a decade."
Ichiyoshi Investment Management chief fund manager Mitsushige Akino said, "I think Nintendo is bound to overtake Sony (in market capitalisation).

When Take-Two Interactive yesterday confirmed that the Entertainment Software Rating Board handed down a rating of AO for Adults Only for Rockstar Games' Manhunt 2 on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo Wii, the publisher said it was exploring its options.
GameSpot has confirmed with Nintendo and Sony that one of those options, which would be to accept the ESRB's judgment and release the game with the AO rating, isn't an option at all. Both companies forbid licensed third-party publishers from releasing games rated AO for Adults Only on their various hardware platforms. Though Manhunt 2 isn't slated for any of Microsoft's systems, the company has also confirmed that it does not allow AO-rated titles on the Xbox or Xbox 360.
The sole exception to this rule was in 2005 when the already released Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was retroactively rated AO, at which point retailers pulled it from shelves and Take-Two suspended production of the game.
"It's currently our policy not to allow the playback of AO-rated content on our systems," a Sony spokesperson told GameSpot.
Nintendo's official line was much the same. "Games made for Nintendo systems enjoy a broad variety of styles, genres, and ratings," a representative told GameSpot. "These are some of the reasons our Wii and Nintendo DS systems appeal to such a broad range of people. But as with books, television, and movies, different content is meant for different audiences. That's why the ESRB provides ratings to help consumers understand the content of a game before they purchase it. As stated on Nintendo.com, Nintendo does not allow any AO-rated content on its systems."
Take-Two's most readily available alternatives are to appeal the ESRB's AO rating or to modify the game. As of press time, a Rockstar Games representative had not responded to GameSpot's inquiry about how either move would impact the game's scheduled July 10 release date

So I am sitting here trying to figure out what to say about the press release I just received, and words are failing me completely. RPG gods BioWare are teaming up with Sega to create a Sonic RPG for the Nintendo DS. My excitement glands and cynicism glands just leapt out of my body and are sword fighting across the top of my desk. We'll see what Sega of America president Simon Jeffery has to say while I wrangle these suckers.
"BioWare is one of the hottest names in RPG development in the world," said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America, Inc. "Everyone at SEGA has huge confidence that Sonic is in the safest of hands, and that BioWare can create the ultimate handheld RPG experience for gamers of all ages."
So we have BioWare, who have never created anything I didn't love, working in the Sonic universe, which lately has been transformed into a giant farm where they only grow crap. A shitfarm, if you will. Can a story-driven game about a character who has always been about blindingly fast action even work?
If I think about this too much my head will explode, or I'll be torn into two separate beings with the evil side getting the goatee. Kind of fond of my goatee. Here, have a press release.
SEGA And BioWare Collaborate On New Sonic Role Playing Game For The Nintendo DS
LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (Thurs 21st June 2007) - SEGA® Europe, Ltd., SEGA® of America, Inc. and Canada-based developer studio BioWare® Corp. today announced a partnership to create a new video game based on the classic SEGA flagship icon, Sonic The Hedgehog. The exact name of the game is undetermined, but this new title developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS will ship in 2008.
BioWare is the award-winning independent developer that has created some of the world's best-selling titles including the Baldur's Gate™ and Neverwinter Nights™ series, the 2003 Game of the Year, Star Wars®: Knights of the Old Republic™ and the 2005 RPG of the Year, Jade Empire.™ BioWare is currently developing one of the most anticipated next-generation titles of 2007, Mass Effect.™
"We're thrilled to be working with SEGA on Sonic, one of the industry's most enduring and compelling icons," said Greg Zeschuk, president of BioWare. "As huge fans of Sonic ourselves, we're committed to delivering a truly amazing story-driven experience within the Sonic universe, focusing on capturing the character's broad appeal and placing him in a completely original adventure," added Ray Muzyka, chief executive officer of BioWare.
The relationship with BioWare reinforces SEGA's increased emphasis on Western content development for Western audiences. In the past few years SEGA has announced partnerships with developers Bizarre Creations, Gas Powered Games, Monolith Productions, Obsidian Entertainment, Planet Moon Studios, Pseudo Interactive and Silicon Knights. SEGA has also acquired development studios The Creative Assembly, Secret Level and Sports Interactive.

Looking back at the game now, Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll's stylus controls can't compete with the level of immersion and intuitiveness we're seeing with the Wii's labyrinthine games -- Mercury Meltdown Revolution, Dewey's Adventure, and Kororinpa: Marble Mania. Thanks to homebrew hardware like the MK6-Motion and the DS Motion Card, though, we can now emulate the same motion-sensing features on our handhelds.
It's unlikely that any commercial release will ever acknowledge these unauthorized add-ons, but homebrew developers have already put out over twenty games and demos that use the data gathered from the accelerometers/gyroscope. Check past the post break for videos and screenshots of three puzzle titles that've been rigged to detect your tilting DS.

Hey all,
Link
I've received my samples of the G6DS real and SuperCard DS ones some time ago thanks to the G6team and KickGaming and have taken my time to bring you a proper, unbiased review and comparison of both units. By taking my time and using both units for a longer period of time I have really been able to give a good impression of both products.

quote; "I have combined their reviews into one big review + comparison so that I review both products and compare the main products of the big names of the GBA slot era. A short history lesson; The G6team (and the M3 team) and SuperCard Team are the producers of the most well known set of flashcards. The G6 team has their G6 series (flashcards) (the M3 team had the M3 product line) and the SuperCard has their SuperCard series (media adapters with RAM onboard). These two(/three) products are the best known and well dispersed of all the GBA (media) adapters (not counting the GBAMP). Now both have had their DS slot solutions out for a while, the SuperCard was the first of the two, thus both have been able to flush out the first few bugs out of their soft/firmware so now is a proper time to compare the two."
I hope you'll enjoy the big, trust me, it's big but hey that's in-depth for you, read. Also keep your eyes peeled on my website and news blog because I have lots more where this came from (reviews and guides); The CycloPS DS evo, hopefully the XCM V-box PAL (including a modding guide), possibly soon depending on the shipment the new XCM 1080P VGA box and last but not least the WiiFree Easy Connect Wii drive-chip solution.
Also I'll soon update my beginners guide to DS hb so be sure to keep an eye out for it .
Cheers,
Scorpei

One of Nintendo`s biggest games of the year arrives on the Nintendo DS, over in Japan they are buying like mad The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, heres the full details about this game:
The epic story of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker continues as Link finds himself lost and alone in unknown seas in a new adventure. Featuring intuitive touch-screen controls and innovative puzzles, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass offers new challenges for fans of the series and an easy-to-grasp introduction for gamers new to The Legend of Zelda. But time grows short, and only the Phantom Hourglass can buy Link the minutes he'll need to survive.
Many months have passed since the events of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Link, Tetra and Tetra's band of pirates have set sail in search of new lands. They come across a patch of ocean covered in a dense fog, in which they discover an abandoned ship. Tetra falls into danger when she explores the ship alone, and Link falls into the ocean when he attempts to rescue her. When he washes up unconscious on the shores of a mysterious island, he is awakened by the sound of a fairy's voice. With the aid of this fairy, he sets off to find Tetra – and his way back to the seas he once knew.

features
The stylus makes controlling Link easier than ever. Tap on the screen to make Link move, or sweep the stylus around him to swing the sword. Players can even draw a path for his boomerang and send it flying into hard-to-reach targets.
Players can stash the map on the top screen for quick reference or drop it to the touch screen to make notes, study enemies, or chart a path for their boat to follow while they man the cannons.
Compete with a friend over a local wireless connection: Guide Link through special dungeons to capture the Triforce or command the forces that oppose him.

News/release from Lynx:
Anyway, this is really just a concept, the "final" product will not look anything like this, more of a database browser, and we are just starting to work on the web interface to allow people to create accounts so they can add homebrew to the database when it is ready.
One nice thing to note (I hope others will do it as well) is the ability to download the latest version of SLURP within SLURP. It would be nice if some of the WiFi enabled games we already have (ExplosiveGas comes to mind) would check to see if a newer version is available, and give the option to download it.
Be gentle

The very first external controller plugin has been posted to us already, which uses the Nintendo DS to control the game. It uses a DS Motion Card to detect motion and rotation of the console and the orientation data of the DS is sent through WiFi to the external controller plugin.
