Infectus has posted on their website that they will have a D2C modchip that will only consist of 13 wires to install which includes the gnd and vcc (D2CKey required 31 wires). They also stated that in the next few days, a new programmer will be released.
No pictures how of the chip will look like but when available, we'll post it. But when this is released, this would be the second D2C modchip for the Wii.

Here at Joystiq, we like to have some fun with our Nega-reviews. When the critical apparatus tells us almost unanimously that a game is undeniably good, we like to pick apart their words and find out what small negatives can be found in the overwhelmingly positive whole. This was a bit tough for Super Mario Galaxy, a game that got high praise all around. It wouldn't have been nearly as tough if we'd had access to Variety's review of the game, which went up on Monday.
While the Variety review praises the game's original level design and gravity-based gameplay, the majority of the writing picks apart the game's weak story, limited two-player mode and awkward camera controls. What's more, a large portion of the review seems targeted at the Wii itself, from blanket condemnation of the two-handed controller ("Holding the nunchuk, ... and the Wii-mote ... in separate hands, is an awkward arrangement") to criticism of the system's graphical prowess ("Fans may claim that the graphics are good 'for the Wii,' ... but given the vastly superior quality of the graphics in a game like Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction ... Galaxy looks old fashioned and lifeless.")
While we can't say we agree with all the criticisms, it's always interesting to see a major outlet going against the tide of positive opinion to create a negative review. You know, a real one.

Nintendo has disputed some of the Wii Software (WiiWare) details announced in an IGN podcast this week, which claimed that WiiWare titles would be capped at 40MB, that developers would set their own prices and be limited to releasing one game per month.
"I can confirm as we originally said at the announcement of the WiiWare service earlier in the year that WiiWare games will come in a range of sizes but we will encourage smaller, more compact games for the service," a Nintendo spokesperson told Eurogamer today.
"I can also confirm we are contemplating that developers will be able to release one game per month during the launch window in order for us to address potential volume issues.
"We have not revealed any details about who sets pricing for WiiWare titles. However it is important to remember that one of the keys aspects of the WiiWare service is to allow everyone access to fresh, new content at a low price."
Nintendo is officially classifying the information as "speculation" despite the statement above.
Wii Software, the official title in Europe, but more commonly known as WiiWare - its official name in America and Japan - is a system a bit like Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network that allows developers to create smaller games and sell them to consumers for lower prices than boxed copies.
Nintendo hopes the service will encourage independent teams and those who lack the wherewithal to produce big games to get involved with Wii development as the console's installed base grows and its free online service, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, continues to attract users.

We already knew Nintendo was anticipating Wii shortages this holiday season, but it's just the beginning of November and UK retailers are already reporting dwindling supplies. While we're certain the problem is at least in part due ot what Nintendo cheerfully calls "unprecedented demand," it's a little ridiculous for there still to be supply issues a year after the Wii's launch. Come on Ninty, get crackin' -- that Vii is starting to look pretty tempting.

Jeff has released a new version of his Rogue clone for the Nintendo DS and GBA, heres whats new:

*Will wonders never cease? Another weekly update! More work on the familiars to make them powerful companions. Also played with a lot of spell costs/books to make things more useful.
He who cannot be spelled properly has had a significant upgrade, so be wary in the end game.
Added a signpost in the tutorial warning of kiwis along with a kiwi to be warned of.
Familiars always have 10 HP rather than being a the mercy of a die roll.
On level up NPCs will gain a half magic level if they are magic users.
Some monsters have an advancement track. When they reach a certain threshold level they will grow into a new monster type.
Water walking creatures are now aware that they are not safe from acid so will no longer wander to their doom. (hotpoo)
Reworked how god distribute spells. This allows some more variety in non-wizard gods. Quizar will now grant spells on occasion, for example. Likewise, Pax will grant Flamestrike and Tlosh Magic Missile. (hotpoo)
Famliars will learn spells as they level up.
Track added to familiar tome.
New spells: diagnose, summon demon.
Summon Imp made cheaper.
Boosted power of Baezel'bub.
Page up and Page down can be used to quickly navigate lists, as can [R] and [L] on the GBA.
You can now Split Stacks in the inventory screen. This peels off one item and places it separate from the stack. Useful if you want to drop one or all but one of something breakable.
When you finish getting help on a spell or skill you are returned to the skill selection menu rather than to the inventory menu.
'?' can be used to get help on skills in the read menu as well as 'i'.
When you finish viewing a help item, you are returned to the help list rather than the main game.
Gameboy Advance [375k].
Nintendo DS [725k].

We're happy to see yet another Wii Zapper knock-off hitting the shelves. What's this one bring to the table? Well, first off, you save a sweet four bucks off the retail Wii Zapper (though we're guessing Link's Crossboy Training is worth at least that much). But on top of that tremendous savings, you also get a banana clip hand grip for full-on guerrilla-style warfare. Would Nintendo ever support tropical jungle mercenary justice? Don't think so. Lamos.

* Back light turns off on menu screen and when the calc is off after 45 seconds of non use.
* Off is a much darker shade of grey
* Scaling for portrait mode is improved, makes text more legible.
and probably some other little things here and there.
Consider this build some what beta, theres a lot of new things in here despite the short update list.

Scott McFly has updated his Blackjack game for DS:
I posted the first, text-based version of this about 7 weeks ago as my first homebrew app, and the response was that graphics were needed. So after some playing about with graphics, sprites and whatnot for a while, here's version 0.2, now with some eye-pleasing graphics and touch screen controls!
To summarise the game, it's a Blackjack game where the object is to get to 21 with your cards without going over. It's a fairly well known game, so the rules should be straight-forward. I'll be including a complete rule explanation in the program on a later release. As in the previous release, the random number generator is only random when used on a DS, so use the program on actual hardware for the bet experience.
The next improvements I have in mind are graphics for the playing area (top screen), some sound effects, possibly some background music and the option to split your hand should you start with 2 cards of the same value.
My vision of the program is to eventually offer a fully-customisable Blackjack experience, as Blackjack rules vary considerably in every region, country and establishment in the world, and I want the user to be able to enable, disable or tweak any rules or options applicable to their preference.
Any feedback would be appreciated, as I mentioned, I only had 1 piece of feedback from the 1st release and I took it on board, so I really do value everyone's opinion!
Thanks!

Alex has released an updated version of his Puzzle game collection for the DS, heres the news:
The ‘hall of fame’ feature is back in this version 3.1 and some bugs found in the version 3.0 have been corrected.
The hall of fame replaces the old ‘high scores’ page (on web site).
The hall of fame is divided in 4 rankings for each game/each level.
These rankings are computed from the scores submitted:
* Since the beginning of Puzzlemaniak
* Since midnight (GMT)
* Since the last 7 days(GMT)
* Since the last 30 days(GMT)
The hall of fame stores the 20 best scores of each game/level.
That’s also the case of the Global Ranking, that is now computed for the 20 first players on each game/level (and scores are thus balanced to 200 instead of 100).

via Computer and Video Games
Nintendo has enforced a size limit of 40MB for any original game that is to appear on the Wii Ware (known here as Wii Software) download service.
This, in case you don't know, is a very small amount of space for a whole game. Storage space is an issue with Wii, and although Nintendo insists Wii doesn't have a storage problem, these are clearly measures taken to stop Wii Ware games from clogging up the system.
Another of Nintendo's restrictions is to the number of releases any one company can make on the service - no more than one a month, which is reasonable. If companies are banging out games that quickly they'd probably be not worth the their disc space.
And, according to IGN, most of the games are being made on a budget of under $100,000 [£48,700]which, in this day and age, is nothing.

News from Ant512:
Based on the fact that I don’t get much time to work on my homebrew projects, and that Woopsi is currently monopolising all of that time, I’ve decided to release what little of DefenderDS I managed to put together.
The archive is here:
DefenderDS
As usual, it’s a VC++ project. The whole lot is under the BSD licence, so pinch any bits that you want for your own projects (remembering to abide by the few restrictions imposed by the licence).
From what I remember, the interesting parts of the code are the animated sprite class, palette cycler class and the sprite number management system (which would need to be stripped out of the Game class and inserted into a new class to be useful). The sprite class simulates a fixed-point single decimal place for sub-pixel movements, by internally multiplying all its values by 10 (though it doesn’t do sub-pixel rendering, natch). The wrap-around functions are specific to Defender, though, and probably won’t be much use elsewhere.
The code is getting on for 8 months old, so I’d probably do things in a different way now. Looking through it, I can’t see any obvious problems, though, aside from it not drawing an explicit distinction between class members and other variables in the naming convention.
So far, it has the following features:
Background mountains
Humans
Landers that scout for humans, tracking the mountain terrain
Lander warp-in
Lander explosions
Lander mutation
Scrolling
Palette cycling
Scanner
My homebrewing plans for the future mainly involve Woopsi - getting the library finished, possibly porting it to the GP2X-F200, and then maybe even writing some applications with it (as that was the whole point of the exercise). Unfortunately, that means DefenderDS is probably a dead project. Shame, really, as this whole blog exists solely because I wanted to keep a development diary for the game. Funny how things turn out, innit? Still, DefenderDS served its purpose - it was an introduction into DS homebrewing, let me dust off my Blitz BASIC skills, and expanded my C++ knowledge.

News/release from MorganDS:
This is the first release of my version of Sudoku for the DS.
Features:
-Two generation options: random or seeded
-Quick puzzle generation (about a tenth of a second)
-Checker
-Corrector (can be turned on or off)
-Timer (can be turned on or off)
-Scoring system (can be turned on or off)
-Shows possibilities for current cell based on numbers you have already input in the puzzle (can be turned on or off)
-Select the number of givens
-Can use freebies if needed
-Choose from several backgrounds
-Choose from different music
-Nice touch-screen support
Known issues:
-On occasion, the program will freeze while trying to generate a puzzle. This happens, however, very rarely. Seeded puzzle #10 cause the program to freeze.
-The sound file for "Crossbones" is a little fuzzy due to several files conversions and compression. I'm planning on rerecording this file to improve sound quality.
Let me know what you think or if there are any bugs or improvements I could make.

News/release from bigjoe2000
I've been working on this on and off for the past couple of weeks and I think it's ready for release. Please be gentle as this is my first crack at any handheld development.
BackupBuddy is a simple utility that finds all the new .sav files on your card and uploads them to an FTP server. The idea here is that you run this utility when you plug your DS in to charge at night. A few minutes later, you can rest assured that all your day's hard play will be backed up.
This assumes you can connect to a wireless network and have access to an FTP server.
So, the first time you run it, it will write a config file in your /DATA/SETTINGS directory (the directory will be created automatically if it doesn't exist). Then launch your favorite editor *cough*DSOrganize*cough* and enter in your FTP server settings. Now go back and launch BackupBuddy again and watch it send all your .savs to backupeddy goodness.
Turn your sound up and you'll hear a reassuring sound whenever a file is successfully transmitted (and a bad sound, which you'll hopefully never hear, on error). When this program is done, it will turn off your DS automatically.
I've only tested this using a CycloDS, but I think it will work with any slot 1 and slot 2 cards (although you may have to do some patching for DLDI and whatnot.. don't really know cause Cyclo is me-proof)
You can peruse the source and/or build yourself if you're so inclined. Feel free to use and abuse any code snippets you find. I only ask that you let me know if you found the program useful and please let me know if you [had trouble|weren't able to] actually getting it working
README
BackupBuddy.nds
BackupBuddy.ds.gba
source
Although I don't see how it could possibly corrupt your memory card, I highly recommend you backup your save files with your tried and true method before running this for the first time. I'd hate to see someone lose their sav files because of this utility.
Of course, I make no warranties, expressed or implied. If your DS implodes, transporting you and the entire eastern seaboard through a wormhole back to the big bang, I cannot be held responsible.
Please leave some feedback and/or bug reports here if you try it
If there's any interest generated here, I'll probably work on adding an actual GUI and making it pretty. But really it's just something I know I'll use every day and if someone else finds it useful, that would be cool.
