Namco Bandai will be the first publisher to charge Wii owners to download in-game content.
Its word-based puzzle game Mojipittan will offer new stages and items in return for your hard earned cash, according to Japanese magazine Famitsu - translated by IGN.
So far it is a Japan-only phenomena, with the game set to launch on the WiiWare (Wii Software) service in March next year.
Versions of the game have already been available on PSP, DS and PS2 and sold very well, with head-to-head online battles planned to enrich the Wii experience.
We will keep you posted if and when any European details emerge, but it seems unlikely they will.

Nintendo has said it is tackling a production bottleneck to ensure third-parties are able to get software on shelves in time for the busy holiday season.
Earlier this month publisher Midway said that it was struggling to get product to shelves as a result of relentless demand on Nintendo for the Wii and its software.
But Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, has stated that the issue is only short-term, and that it's working to ease the crush as publishers move to take advantage of the Wii's success.
"As every publisher talks about shifting over to Wii it's creating this crush of production right now at our factories for software," said Fils-Aime, talking at a BMO Capital Markets conference.
"What we've done is to ramp that capacity up and work with the publishers to ensure that their best titles get into the marketplace and [they] have a productive holiday. This is a very short-term situation that is effectively going to be resolved in a course of three week's time," he stated.
During the same conference, Fils-Aime said that he was not worried by suggestions that Sony and Microsoft could enter the same market as Nintendo – by developing casual titles and a relatively cheap peripheral that could copy the Wii's interface.
"The challenge that our competitors have is significant. They've gone down the path with very expensive machines where they lose money on the hardware on every unit they sell. They've gone down a path that makes it challenging for third-party developers to create content," commented Fils-Aime.
"So our competitors have put themselves in quite a box. How they get out of it is a challenge – creating casual content for those systems won't work. Not only because the ease of play won't be there but the consumer won't be there.
"I don't think a consumer paying USD 600 for a Sony system, software and accessories is the same consumer who wants to play a more casual type of product. So they have a significant strategic conundrum, and one that won't be easy to resolve," he added.

Solid Snake wasn't enough for Super Smash Bros. Brawl's star-studied roster; a second Metal Gear Solid character, the uni-eyed Grey Fox has joined the fight! But unfortunately you won't be able to play as him...
Grey Fox makes his Smash Bros. Appearance as an assist trophy, which help (or hurt) the player that activates them but aren't playable characters. In this case Grey Fox turns up and does his ninja thing on whoever happens to be in his way (he did chin a Metal Gear Rex after all) and look pretty damn hard in the process.
For the fighting MS fans will have to stick with Snake then, but at least it raises the chances that there are more non-Nintendo characters left to see...

Hello
I was working with the wii and the gc-linux project, and i found a way to play MAME and some other emulators (VisualBoyAdvanced,snes9x, gngeo,scummvm....) under wii, without the needs of a BBA adapter. If you are interested, here is a tutorial about how to run the emulators. It runs the Advanced Mame port, and a direct compilation of the VBA project for linux.
The idea is to have an installation of gc-linux on the SD, with an ext2 partition (as if it were a PC-Harddisc), were you put the gc-linux files with the emulator. It works well with small roms (cps1 or roms smaller than 7MB), but with bigger roms it lags a little, depending on the size.

The Plugin for Nintendo64 has been updated, heres whats new:
- Fixed many problems with texture/palette CRC calculation. Almost all hires textures are loaded now.
Note: GlideHQ does not support textures in jpeg format. If your hires pack has textures in jpeg, you must convert them all to png.
- Fixed texrects alignment issue.
Note: There is an issue with texrects size in Mario Kart, which causes black lines in many menu textures. Thus, I use old texrects size calculation method for this game, which causes fewer artifacts.

Nintendo of America has announced a special treat for US Wii owners to celebrate the impending launch of Super Mario Galaxy.
Today will see the Virtual Console release of Super Mario Bros. 3, "considered by many to be the greatest video of all time" as Nintendo puts it.
It will cost 500 Wii Points (GBP 3.50 / EUR 5) and be released alongside Mega Drive side-scroller Alien Soldier (available here last week) and TurboGrafx-16 title Power Golf (available on Friday according to the official Hudson site).
There is no word on whether Super Mario Bros. 3 will be here on Friday, unfortunately, but we have our fingers crossed.
