EasyRPG Player is an open source implementation of the RPG Maker 2000/2003 engine
If you encounter problems test if they also occur in the official supported (Windows, Linux or MacOS X) versions first! In the current state the compatibility is not the best, don't expect that most games work.
The program fails to start in 50 Hz mode, use 60 Hz mode until this is resolved.
You can report bugs in the Issue tracker. Please check if the bug is resolved in the latest nightly build before reporting.

Super Monkey Ball, the famous puzzle game released for GameCube, has been cracked! User Yoshimaster96 solved this puzzle after weeks of investigation. Cracking games is hard, especially modern ones. But he’s not done yet. The collision has yet to be cracked. It’s encoded very strangely. If he can figure it out, it could mean the beginning of Super Monkey Ball hacking!

Vs. Super Mario Bros. - Home Edition - has been updated to version 1.1! As the name implies, this patch modifies the Vs. Super Mario Bros. arcade ROM to be fully compatible with standard NES consoles, exchanging the physical dipswitches for a pre-game configuration menu and adding high score saving (a feature not present in the original).
New in version 1.1:
- Fixed intermittent scanline glitch on NTSC PPUs (this affected the original game as well)
- Changed default dipswitch settings to match those found in the operation manual; defaults can now be restored by pressing A + B + Select at the menu
- Dipswitch settings are now saved in SRAM
- Implemented timer speed settings for both original and alternate ROMs (no need for separate ROMs anymore)
- Minor fixes and cleanups

Super Mario Kart 8 V1.1 (PAL) has been released as a demake of Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, scaling it down on to the original Super Mario Kart for the SNES. If you have downloaded the previous version of Super Mario Kart 8, it is probably the best time to download again and repatch.
The project started shortly after the first major course information was released and since then Sarger has been trying to squeeze some of the courses in the game down onto a SNES cartridge. The hack modifies all of the tracks in the game, including the battle tracks, modifies the point system and some of the graphics in the game have been modified as well.

CaH4e3 updated his site with the following message:
- Super 6-in-1 (KY-6011)[p1][!]. Thanks a lot to MoonWalker for providing this cart! Maybe I have seen it before, but didn't think it's something special. As we can see on its cover, there are some simple games, "TMNT Tournament Fighters" and "Cricket 2003". We are know, that "International Cricket" exists as official game, developed by Beam Software, and as their another game "Aussie Rules Footy", was released only in Australia. But it appears, on this cart isn't a hack of this game, rather an original chinese version of Cricket.
- International Cricket (Unl), International Cricket (Unl)(Alt version)[f1]. Actually, there is a dump of this game already available, but this version appears to be slightly different in a lot of cases. Here I put the original dump from the Internet (not mine, if you want to be credited, ask me), and it's Alt version, ripped from the multigame cartridge above and hacked to be able to run in the standalone mode. Also you can see some difference on the screenshots below.
Although of visual differences, most probably, the single version is a simplified hack of the Alt version, becuase there is no much difference in the both version's code, just a lot of code was disabled, inluding starting logo, team auto selection and some other things.
With all difference, obviously both games are coming from one of numerous portable NES-based consoles with integrated set of a simple original games inside. Both have the same CHR graphics for some kind of advertising screens. Judging from the title screen logo of the Alt version, this is a some of the consoles by "Mitashi".

The Nintendo Wii U is currently running second in the next-gen console race, according to Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime.
Asked during an interview at E3 2014 last week whether the Wii U could ever outsell the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, Fils-Aime indicated that it already has.
"The dirty little secret is if you look at life-to-date numbers, between Sony and Nintendo they'd be pretty close in terms of PS4 vs. Wii U, with Xbox coming in third place," Fils-Aime told The Seattle Times.
"I think it's going to be a three-horse race for the balance of this cycle."
The executive also said that Nintendo does not believe it will need to release a new console following the less than stellar performance of the Wii U since its launch.
"We think that the Wii U has a long and vibrant life in front of it," he said. "What it needs are games like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros Wii U and Splatoon - those types of games that can really drive the installed base. We believe if we can do that effectively the Wii U has a long and robust life."
Fils-Aime also conceded that the Wii U's launch line-up was not as strong as it could have been, largely due to delays on Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101.
"The interesting point there is that when we announced the Wii U and when we announced all of the launch details, we fully expected games like Wii Fit U, Pikmin, the The Wonderful 101 to be in the launch window," he said.
"The Nintendo quality bar is really what kept us from launching those games potentially in February or March and so that's what created the lack of software during that initial launch phase."
While Nintendo managed to sell only 310,000 Wii U systems in the fourth financial quarter, sales have picked up since the release of Mario Kart 8 earlier this month. The game's release has lead to quadrupled Wii U sales in the US and a 666 per cent increase in sales in the UK.

June 16th, 2014, 22:23 Posted By: wraggster
A federal appeals court has dismissed a patent infringement claim against Nintendo's Wii Remote controller.
The suit was first filed by patent holder Triton Tech in 2010, after which a Seattle district court judge found the patent "did not adequately describe a complete invention" rendering it invalid, according to Nintendo. Triton took the claim to a federal appeals court, which upheld the previous ruling on June 13.
Triton's patent No. 5,181,181 was filed in 1990 for "a mouse which senses six degrees of motion arising from movement of the mouse within three dimensions". It describes several functions which are similar in use to the Wii Remote's motion control.
"We are very pleased with this result," Nintendo of America general counsel Richard Medway said in a prepared statement. "Nintendo has a long tradition of developing unique and innovative products, while respecting the intellectual property rights of others. Nintendo continues to aggressively defend itself against patent trolls. After many years of litigation, the decision today reflects an appropriate resolution of this case."
Electronics company Philips sued Nintendo in May over its patent on a "virtual body control device", which allows users to control interfaces using "intuitive" motions. If successful, the suit would block North American sales of Wii, Wii Remote, Wii U, Wii U GamePad, and Wii Mini.

Nintendo has hinted that some new entries in the Metroid series could be in development.
In an interview with Kotaku Shinya Takahasi, the GM of the platform holder's Software Planning and Development group, talked about the two different types of Metroid game – the original 2D style and the 3D games in the vein of the Prime series. He said that internal discussions were taking place about what to do next.
“So it has been a while since we released the last one and we're having discussions internally about what we can do next. So at this point we have two different types of Metroid games,” he said.
“We have the Prime style of Metroid game and we have the more traditional style of Metroid game. We feel that we do need to take care of both of these styles of play. And the hope is that at some point in the near future we'll be able to share something about them.”
It has been a while since a new Metroid game has launched. The last entry in the series was the divisive Wii title Other M, which was released back in 2010.

Looks like Mario Kart 8 was just what the doctor mechanic ordered for Nintendo's struggling Wii U; Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime told Polygon that, compared to the week prior, Wii U sales quadrupled the week after the game's release.
Fils-Aime also noted that 18 percent of Wii U owners purchased a copy of the game in its first weekend, but this number likely includes sales of the game from the bundle that was offered upon release. Still, the numbers are nothing to sneeze at, as the game topped 1 million on release weekend, making it the fastest-selling Wii U game to date.
Now we wait to see which game for Nintendo's console, if any, will knock Mario Kart 8 out of first place with a well-timed blue shell.
