CaH4e3 updated his site with the following message:
- Pokemon Diamond III (HengGe, ABC-51PCB, MMC3 based 8M)(Ch)[!], Pokemon HeartGold (KT-008 PCB)(Ch)[!], Pokemon Leaf Green I (HengGe, BBC-21 PCB, MMC3 based 8M)(Ch)[!], Pokemon Leaf Green II (HengGe, BBC-2 PCB, MMC3 based 8M)(Ch)[!], Pokemon Platinum (KT-008 PCB)(Ch)[!], Pokemon Platinum Alt title 1 (KT-008 PCB)(Ch)[!], Pokemon Platinum Alt title 2 (KT-008 PCB)(Ch)[!].
Today our cart donator is Beetle Hair! Thanks a lot a lot! All his carts are from Pokemon series developed by Jncota, some of them seems to be rare enough. Some versions was published by SHENZHEN JNCOTA TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD itself (KT series), some was released by also well known HENZHENSHIHENGGEKEJIDIANZIYOUXIANGONGSI. The last ones uses MMC3 boards with expandable PRG banks range, so the programm can address 1Mb of PRG banks instantly. This is already emulated in current versions of FCEUmm and FCEUX. KT series has mostly regular MMC3 boards, but with extra registers to switch between large 512K PRG banks, so we have the same 1Mb of data. Similar dumps are floating around already on the net, but only one of the latest versions of VirtuaNESex can emulate it. Now FCEUmm/FCEU supports these dumps too, including all Pokemon games. Updated FCEUmm build already uploaded to this site, SVN repository of FCEUX updated too.
From the whole series of these games I know only one game is dumped for sure, it's "Pokemon Diamond II" (if you know more, tell me). Also, I have two more carts, unfortunately not working with presumably "Pokemon Diamond I" and "Pokemon Leaf Green III". If i can recover them, I'll put them on my site next time.

Today we present another quick update for our 4.5 users: Gateway OMEGA 2.7 which brings support for emunand 9.4!
We also want to inform our users that we are still working on native support for sysnand 9.0 – 9.2, so please be patient until we are ready to release!
We try to deliver a smooth experience for our users and this takes time to perfect!
We also inform our users that they MUST NOT UPDATE SYSNAND TO 9.3 OR ABOVE, because we will not be able to support entry to those sysnand versions any time soon.
If you are wondering what native support we will bring for lower than sysnand 9.0, we can tell that after 9.0-9.2 we will start with 8.0-8.1 and gradually work our way down with support for even lower sysnand firmware versions.

Just yesterday system firmware 9.3 was released and after quickly analysing it we want to warn our users *NOT* to update their sysnand to 9.3 or higher if they want to enjoy our upcoming support!
We repeat, DO NOT update sysnand to 9.3 or beyond!
We plan to move forward with the additional support for sysnand firmware range 9.0 – 9.2.
For users that did not update yet in this range, do not worry. We will add support for a firmware range lower than 9.0 which can be installed using a gamecard update.

It turns out that there's another reason for Nintendo's Amiibo character shortage: they're selling like crazy, and now third-party games are using them too. Nintendo said that it's sold over 700,000 of the figurines, as many as its best-selling Super Smash Bros. title. Third-party publisher Bandai Namco is also supporting the NFC-enabled characters for costume unlocks in its One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X on 3DS, making it the first non-Nintendo game to use Amiibo. Nintendo added that Wii U November sales were up 90 percent over last year, and that the console recently had it's biggest week since it launched in 2012.

[nitro2k01] got his hands on a Game Fighter, a clone of the original Game Boy. While there’s a ton of information about the boot ROM and operation of the original Game Boy, not much is known about these clones. [nitro2k01] wanted to learn more, so he used a clock-glitching technique to dump the device’s ROM and made some interesting discoveries about its copyright protection and boot process along the way.
Reading the contents of the Game Boy ROM is a bit challenging. The ROM is readable while booting, but afterwards the address space of the ROM is remapped for interrupt vectors and other uses. There are a couple of methods to get around this, but the simplest method involves glitching the crystal by grounding one of its leads. This causes the CPU to jump to random locations in memory. Eventually the CPU will jump to a location where the boot ROM is accessible (if you’re lucky!).
Although [nitro2k01]’s clone can run the same games as the Game Boy, it has a different boot ROM and also has some significant hardware differences. [nitro2k01] managed to use a modified version of the crystal-grounding technique to glitch his clock and dump the clone’s boot ROM. He found that the clone uses an unusual variation on the Game Boy’s copyright-checking technique, along with some other oddities. [nitro2k01] also posted a disassembly of the boot ROM, which he explains in detail.
Thanks for the tip, [Ove].

If you purchased a Wii U Deluxe (that's the black one with 32GB of onboard storage) at any point since the console's November 18, 2012 launch, you're eligible for Nintendo's Deluxe Digital promotion, which awards 10 percent of all digital purchases back to the buyer in the form of eShop credit. Unfortunately for anyone just hearing of the deal, that rebate is about to come to an end.
"The deadline for earning points in the Deluxe Digital Promotion is December 31, 2014," reads an "Important News" bulletin at the promotion's website. "Only eligible purchases or eligible download codes used in Nintendo eShop for Wii U before December 31, 2014 will qualify for this promotion." Fortunately, Nintendo is not entirely shuttering the promotion at the end of the year. Anyone with sufficient points remaining in their Deluxe Digital account to earn eShop credit will be able to make the exchange until March 31, 2015. For more information, visit the Deluxe Digital home page.

We got a chance to go hands on with Mario Maker at E3 this past June and it was pretty awesome even if it felt a little bit, well, safe. New footage that premiered at tonight's The Game Awards in Las Vegas blew our previous conceptions out of the water, though. From the looks of the video below, you can alter levels on-the-fly in ways we didn't previously know were possible. We're talking creating a platform to land on mid-jump and turning otherwise fatal bullet cannons into coin-spewing fountains. Not crazy enough? How about swapping in art styles from the past 30 years of the Italian plumber's career as you see fit while running through what starts as level 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. in real-time? Exactly. Hit the jump for a peek at the madness.

After reports rolled in yesterday about Super Smash Bros. and other Wii U games being met with error codes that resulted in a loss of system functionality, Nintendo acknowledged that it is investigating the problems. Error codes 160-0103 and 160-1710 "could affect the ability of the system to function properly" for a "small percentage of consumers playing Wii U," Nintendo of America told Joystiq.
The reported issues varied from a loss of data to games on the system being unplayable entirely, issues that persisted within the data management menu on the Wii U for some. The error messages note that "there is a problem with the system memory." Nintendo encourages anyone experiencing the errors codes to call the Nintendo contact center at 1-800-255-3700 for help, until a solution is available.

One fan going by the name Igor F. has spent his holidays and evenings of the past several years working on a passion project called A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country, and it has now seen its first part released.“The aim was to try to do a Donkey Kong game in high definition, trying to keep as much as possible the look and feel of the original Donkey Kong Country game from Super Nintendo,” writes Igor F. on the project’s website. The result is 13,000+ lines of code, 1,000+ game assets, including 20+ Characters with 120+ animations, 200+ 3D objects, 400+ textures, 30+ particles effects, and 12 levels. That’s a lot of work for a single person.Alas, we are now on the other side of some of that work and can indulge what it brings. And so, if you want to play the first world and eight levels of A Tribute To Donkey Kong, you can download it for free on its website for Windows and Mac.

A memory-corrupting error reportedly stemming from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is rendering some Wii U consoles unusuable, multiple sources claim.
Users experiencing Error Code 160-0103 report a number of related issues, ranging from data deletion to unplayable games. In some cases, a related error message (160-1710) persists even in the Wii U's Data Management menu, requiring the console to be shipped to Nintendo for repair.
"There is a problem with the system memory," the error message . "For help, make a note of the error code and visit support.nintendo.com."
A specific cause has not been determined, but many users report experiencing the issue after turning the system off and back on again after a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U session. Issues related to Error Code 160-0103 were infrequently reported prior to the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and a reliable solution is not yet known.
Joystiq has reached out to Nintendo regarding the error message, but has not received a response.
[Update: A Reddit post clarifies that the problem is not exclusively caused bySuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, citing previous user experiences with Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, and other Wii U games. Faulty flash memory chips are suspected to be at fault, though a consistent, proven cause remains unknown.]

Nintendo is poised to cease production of the 3DS XL in Japan, shifting focus to the more popular New 3DS XL model.
The product page on Nintendo's official website has "ending production soon" next to all seven colours of the device that are currently on sale in Japan. However, despite the popularity of the New 3DS, the original 3DS will continue to exist.
The 3DS XL was launched in the summer of 2012, but the New 3DS XL has been ahead in sales ever since its release in October. It's worth noting that, relative to other hardware platforms in Japan, the 3DS XL remains popular. It sold more than 11,000 units in the last week alone, so the decision to end production may be a ploy to boost sales of the New 3DS XL further still.
According to Siliconera, which translated the announcement, the New 3DS XL is on track to sell 1.2 million units before the end of the year.

Double digits, Nintendo DS! Little two-screened wonder, the machine that rose Nintendo to the heavens rather than the depths of hell, you turned 10-years-old earlier this month. How far you've taken us, Nintendo DS! As the GameCube floundered back in 2004 and Game Boy Advance was staying afloat thanks to Pokemon, the world scoffed at your weird design. A microphone? A touch screen? Madness! Now there's scarcely a device out there that doesn't sport both features. You sit along the original Nintendo Entertainment System as one of the most successful and influential gaming machines ever.
Now that you're ten, Nintendo DS, it's time to grow up! No more dillydallying with soft batch games like Spectrobes! With a decade under your belt, its time for games that will make you the womanliest woman and manliest man you can be, Nintendo DS. Here are ten games that will make you a grown up. They will teach you things about life, love, triumph and heartbreak. Here, dear DS, are ten games to play on your road to adulthood.
