A brand new game in the Deus Ex series has been announced by Eidos Montreal.
Deus Ex: Universe is in development by the team that created Human Revolution and is due for release on next-gen consoles and PC.
Deus Ex: Universe is more than just a new game, however. The name is also being used to promote what is being described as “an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games”.
Added Eidos Montreal studio boss David Anfossi: “It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before.
“Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc.”
The studio has also confirmed an October 22nd release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.

Nintendo's 3DS StreetPass relay point functionality will soon be improved, allowing players to access data at Nintendo Zone locations from more 3DS owners at once, Nintendo announced during today's Nintendo Directpresentation. "Starting in a few days," players that pass through Nintendo Zone locations with their 3DS systems in sleep mode will access data from up to six other passers-by instead of the usual one, greatly improving their chances at completing puzzles and other StreetPass games.
Additionally, Nintendo noted plans for special StreetPass distribution events for game content in October and November, starting with an Animal Crossing: New Leaf fedora chair on October 1, then a sushi platter on October 15. Other 3DS games receiving bonus content via StreetPass include Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Super Mario 3D Land.
Relay points were added to the system in an August firmware update, though numerous reports indicated that it didn't function properly in early September. Nintendo's paid StreetPass games made $4 million in one month, so the relay point update seems appropriate enough.

It was already scheduled to hit the US and Europe in November, but no specific dates were announced.
A Link to the Past 2 was renamed A Link Between Worlds during E3 in June, when a new trailer for the game was also released.
Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has said of the game: "We've been thinking about how to make the new one in a way that will excite the fans without alienating people who haven't played the original. We're paying close attention to that.
"Fans of the original game have a lot of fond memories, and when we announced this sequel I know that some were dubious about the idea of us adding to that game's lore.
"When the 3DS came along, I thought it would be cool to make a 2D-style Zelda game that you could play in 3D - it seemed like a challenge. I thought it might be interesting to combine a side-on view with the top-down view of A Link To The Past. So we arrived at the idea of making a new game set in the existing world of A Link To The Past."

Nintendo has postponed the development of Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze - a Retro Studios platformer that was one of the few major titles due for Christmas release on Wii U.
The platformer has been delayed to February 2014 in the US, while in Europe an exact month wasn't specified. In June, when Nintendo announced the game, the corporation said it would be available both in stores and digitally this year.
Super Mario 3D World is now considered the only core Nintendo title due for release during the holiday period, although Wii Fit and Wii Play will also ship before the end of the year.
The latest entry in the side-scrolling platforming series has Donkey Kong's living space overrun by Vikings from the North Sea. In order to reclaim it, Donkey Kong and friends set off on an adventure that will take them to five islands.
The game will support two player simultaneous multiplayer with playable characters including Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says that in addition to the game's side-view presentation, depending on the stage, the camera will switch to show dynamic scenes that enable different gameplay experiences.

Nintendo is planning to release a new Kirby game in 2014 on 3DS as the corporation looks to maintain the momentum of its successful handheld.
Though its official name was not disclosed, on Tuesday Nintendo issued a trailer of the side-scrolling platformer playing on a 3DS screen, closing it with a message stating it would ship in 2014.
The game marks the first Kirby game on Nintendo's 3DS, which has managed to outsell the PS3 and Xbox 360 in key regions due to a strong and consistent line-up of star games such as Animal Crossing: New Leafand Luigi's Mansion 2.
The previous major Kirby game was the 20th Anniversary collection on Wii, released in 2012. A year prior, the company released Kirby's Adventure on the Wii, which CVG's reviewscored a 7 and said it "highlights the dangers of appealing to a very vocal minority".

Following the game's release in Japan, where it was called Bravely Default Flying Fairy, Square Enix announced that an updated version of the title called Bravely Default: For the Sequel was in development. This enhanced version will be used for December's western release.
The updated version offers improved battle mechanics which have been influenced by those being created for a full Bravely Default sequel. Additionally, battle speed is a little quicker, and the game offers players the option to speed up attack effects as well as an Auto Battle function designed to streamline grinding.

Tropical Freeze pushed to February as Nintendo leans on Super Mario 3D World, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Wii Party U to bear the load
The Wii U's holiday lineup is looking a little lighter as Nintendo today delayed the launch of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Previously set for a December debut, Tropical Freeze has been pushed to February in North America, as confirmed by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
"In order to deliver the optimum gaming experience, we need a little more time for development of this title," Iwata explained, adding, "We would like to apologize for this delay and hope you understand."
The Wii U's holiday lineup still has a handful of big exclusives yet to launch, including Super Mario 3D World on November 22. The same month will also see the launch of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, as well as the digital debut of Wii Fit U. Meanwhile, October's release slate is headed up by Wii Party U, Sonic Lost World, and this week's retail launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
Analysts including IHS' Piers Harding-Rolls and Baird's Colin Sebastian have pointed to this holiday season as a key stretch for the Wii U. Sebastian said "the fate of the platform" rests on its holiday software lineup, while Harding-Rolls said this season's sales performance will dictate his firms long-term outlook on the system.

Nintendo has released a 700MB firmware patch for Wii U that introduces a particularly interesting bit of functionality.
Users are now able to play Wii games via Wii Mode on their Wii U GamePad. Cool, right? But there’s a quite considerable catch – “Wii software displayed on the Wii U GamePad cannot be controlled by the GamePad. This feature only allows Wii software to be displayed on the GamePad. A Wii Remote Plus or Wii Remote is required to play Wii software titles.”
Which could be interesting.
The patch updates also carry a sternly worded warning about modifying your console.
“After the Wii U system is updated, any existing or future unauthorized technical modification of the hardware or software of your Wii U system, or the use of an unauthorized device in connection with your system, may render the system permanently unplayable,” it says. “Content deriving from the unauthorized modification of the hardware or software of your Wii U system may be removed. Failure to accept the update may render games unplayable.
There are a number of other additions too including support for USB keyboards, support for Dolby Pro logic II Surround Sound for Wii games, easier access to friends lists, the ability to alter sound output so pictures and sound can be sent to different devices and tweaks to the web browser.

Nintendo’s most successful ever home console is nearing the end of its life.
Kotaku spotted an addition made to the Wii page on Nintendo Japan’s website which claims that “manufacturing is scheduled to end soon”.
If correct, it would mean that while Wii’s life was certainly bright it was also comparatively short-lived, having only gone on sale in 2006. As recently as 2009 Wii was selling over 7m units per year and in 2010 neared 6m units sold.
Nintendo didn’t cease production of the NES/Famicom, which was launched in 1983, until 2003. The GameCube was killed just a year into Wii’s lifecycle, however.
There’s no sign yet that either PS3 or Xbox 360, which arrived in 2006 and 2005 respectively, are nearing termination.
Wii achieved a huge amount in its life, though, with global sales of over 100m units – only the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 have achieved more (and the Game Boy and DS if you include portables).

Activision is to release two Transformers game bundles this Q4.
The first, for Nintendo Wii, is called the Transformers: Ultimate Battle Edition while the second, due out on DS, is called the Transformers: Ultimate Autobots Edition.
The Wii release contains two games – Transformers: Cybertron Adventures (based on the War for Cybertron continuity that has previously featured on consoles) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon Stealth Force Edition (based on the films).
The DS release, meanwhile, also contains two games (both based on the film continuity) – Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and, again, Transformers: Dark of the Moon Stealth Force Edition.
