Next Tuesday, Japanese Wii owners will be able to download the underrated N64 title Pokémon Snap on the Wii's Virtual Console. Unique to this release, however, will be newly added Wii functionality, setting an interesting precedent for future VC releases.
Dengeki Online reports that photographs taken in-game can be posted to the Wii Message Board, and sent along to friends using the Wii's internet connection. While this isn't a terribly interesting use of the Wii functionality, it does show that Nintendo is willing to add new features to Virtual Console titles. No word yet on when Pokémon Snap will be making its debut in other regions, but could other upcoming VC titles be receiving similar treatment?

Players intimidated by the chaotic, hazard-heavy stages of Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be delighted to hear that several classic stages will be returning from Smash Bros. Melee. Pictured above, the Temple stage is the only one officially announced, though director Masahiro Sakurai promises "a number" of stages from the Gamecube title (a few of the original N64 states couldn't hurt either, but there's no word on whether or not that's even a possibility).
In other news, next Monday is December 3, otherwise known as the former release date of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. As this date has been slowly approaching, we here at Joystiq have noticed that the daily Brawl updates have lacked any startling new information. The last character announced was back in October, meaning that Brawl's blog is definitely overdue for some earth-shattering information. Perhaps Nintendo is holding off to make an announcement on the day we all expected to get our Brawl on? Maybe, maybe not. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

New from DS Dev Moose at Play:
We have published the November 30, 2007 release of Laser Hockey DS.
The ball can now move between screens. There are actually two balls, one for each graphics engine. However, I am only checking the main ball (lower screen) for my crappy collision detection. The sprites in each screen will wrap and I am using this feature to draw the ball on the top screen when the position goes negative. The same goes for the top paddle so that I didn't have to rewrite my crappy physics methods at all. I force my paddle to be in negative world (yes, that was a Mario reference) so that my negative world ball will collide with it.
The ball can travel through the goal. I am keeping a score up to 9 but you can't see it yet.

Own a Wii? Satisfied, are you? Or do you sometimes go round your PS2 friend's house and stare at his plastic quiz show controllers and wish you weren't saddled with stupid motion sensors and bobble heads of your dad and little blue glowing lights that never seem to shut up even when you do check your messages?
Then good news! Because the game Ellie regarded as something "cheap and simple to entertain the family, but it'll be gathering dust by New Year" is finally coming to Wii! Yes, Cheggers' Party Quiz has been dated, and will be released on 7th December! As published Oxygen Games put it, "Wii-Hey!"
Alternatively, are you a fan of dour Scotsmen with a thistly regard for porous Premier League defences and an inability to answer nice ladies' questions sensibly? Then good news for you too! Because Alan Hansen's Sports Challenge is coming to Wii on the same day.
Terrific. Christmas is saved.

Wondering what Grasshopper Manufacturer was doing before Killer 7? DS owners in Japan will get to find out real soon as Marvelous Interactive brings producer Suda 51's Flower, Sun, and Rain: Unending Paradise to the DS.
Titled, in Japan, Hana to Taiyou to Ame to: Owaranai Rakuen, this mystery adventure game was originally released for the PlayStation 2 on 2001. HAND is "handling" the conversion to the portable format, with supervision by Grasshopper Manufacturer, of course.
You play as Mondo Sumio, who comes to the resort island of Lospas at the request of the owner of the Flower, Sun, and Rain, a hotel on the island. The owner tells you that the island, which is apparently stuck in a time loop, is being targeted by terrorists. With aid of Catharine, a computer you carry with you in your briefcase, your job is to stop the explosive device that threatens to destroy the island.
Flower, Sun, and Rain, is a full adventure game with 3D exploration indoors and out. Using the hotel as your base of operations, you head out onto the island to question the residents. On top of the adventure gameplay from the PS2 original, the DS version adds 50 new puzzles, as well as stylus controls for when you jack into Catherine.
The Japanese release of No More Heroes is just a couple of weeks away, so for gamers in Japan, that will be their next exposure to the workings of Suda 51. Following that, importers should look for Flower, Sun, and Rain in Spring 2008.

A few if you may have seen this mod a few years back - it did get some decent press on the tubes and was featured in an issue of EGM. There’s really not a whole lot to say about this one, so I’ll let the pic speak for itself.
Check the auction for more pics, as well as a video of the system in action. Currently cheap too, at just over $40.00 with a full nine days to go.

The active-play phenomenon started by Wii Sports now spreads to your whole body thanks to a pressure-sensitive Wii balance board, which comes packed with Wii Fit. The board is used for an extensive array of fun and dynamic activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and games. Remember AM3 and its attempt at bringing downloadable anime to the Game Boy Advance? They're back with their latest product, and this time it's for the world-beating DS.
The company unveiled today DSvision, a download service that promises to bring comics, books, magazines, anime, movies, and television programs to the Japanese DS. The service downloads content to special microSD flash cards, which are then plugged into the DS via a special adapter cartridge.
Fully licensed by Nintendo, the service will begin in full force over in Japan in March 2008. In coopration with its majority share-holder Dai Nippon Printing, a major Japanese printing company, am3 will open up an online shop for downloading content. The firms will also be working with NTT for the distribution of movies and other high memory content.
Specific titles were not announced today, but am3 does have high hopes for the service. The firm expects to capture 10% of the DS's current 20 million userbase. When the service starts, it expects to have 300 titles available for download, expanding to 10,000 by 2010. am3 hopes to reach 20,000,000 downloads per year by 2010, with total sales of one billion yen over the next three years.
Pricing for content was also not announced today, but the firm expects the priciest content to go for 1,000 yen, or close to $10 US.
In January, am3 will hold a test of the service. Interested parties will be able to purchase a 3,980 yen set consisting of the microSD adapter cartridge, a 512 megabyte special microSD card designed for exclusive use with the DS Vision service, and a USB reader. In the future, the firm is considering offering the adapter for free in order to minimize barriers to the service.
This service is only for Japan at the moment. However, with Nintendo's full backing, if the service takes off, we wouldn't be surprised to see it expand to other territories.
With the success of the flash carts such as R4DS, M3 Simply, CycloDS Evolution, G6 Flash, EZ-Flash and many others, Nintendo decided to take a stab at it..kinda, by licensing a similar/look-a-like product. But its main intended purpose is for it to be a download service that promises to bring comics, books, magazines, anime, movies, and television programs to the Japanese DS.

Hi there, it's James from www.rgcd.co.uk here again.
Not only have we slashed our GBA homebrew cart costs, but we've recently teamed up with Paradise Games to bring you a seasonal GBA special; our Christmas Double Pack!
For the last couple of years, Ian and the rest of the Paradise team have entered the Christmas game development competition hosted by www.drunkencoders.com, winning the competition in 2005, and receiving an honourable position in 2006. After playing their games extensively I had a brainwave; perhaps Paradise Games would be interested in working with RGCD to create some sort of Christmas-themed compilation for our readers? A few emails later and the Paradise/RGCD Christmas Double Pack GBA cart was born.
So what do you get for the bargain £5.50 price tag? Limited to 50 copies, the double-pack (which is a deliberately erroneous title as the cart actually includes a third hidden game..!) contains both Santa's Chimney Challenge and Santa's Skidoo Scarper; arguably the best Christmas themed releases to grace the GBA platform. Visit the RGCD Shop to buy your copy today!
Read full game review at http://www.rgcd.co.uk/shop/reviews/paradise-double/
The cart pricing is as follows:
UK Customers (Including 1st Class P&P) - £5.50
UK Customers (Including 1st Class Recorded P&P) - £6.25
Worldwide Customers (Including Worldwide P&P) - £6.75
Please note that these carts are sold strictly on a non-commercial, non-profit basis. Any and all revenue from cartridge sales will directly offset the cost of production and shipping. Faulty carts and other returns will be refunded in full.

Nintendo has told Eurogamer that Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village will be out in the US on 18th February.
However, plans are yet to be made for Europe, but you could always import a copy what with it being a region-free DS title.
Developed by Level 5, of Dragon Quest VIII fame, Mysterious Village is the first in a trilogy of adventure titles based around brain-teasing puzzles by some University boffin and linked together with an overarching storyline.
You may never have heard of it, but Professor Layton has been been so wildly popular in Japan it has shipped around half a million copies since February and prompted two follow-on games.
Regional magazine Famitsu unearthed the third instalment recently as Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, due to be released some unspecified time in the future. Meanwhile second game Professor Layton and the Devil's Box goes on sale this week in Japan.
Pop over to the Japanese website for an idea of what to expect.

Charles Martinet, the man who provides the chirpy vocals for Mario, is working on an autobiography about his time voicing the most iconic videogame character ever.
Martinet's writings, which he aims to have ready for release next year, will paint a picture of Nintendo from the inside as he reveals what it's like to work with the games giant, and provide the voice for such a huge icon of videogames.
"I've actually started working a little bit on a book, but it's about finding the discipline to keep going.", he told CVG. "But I will be inspired by fans," such as one, explained Martinet, who said to him at the recent Mario Galaxy launch event in London: "You're the voice of my childhood."
"That's the sort of thing that makes you think 'yes, I want to write a book so that I can acknowledge that'," Martinet told CVG. He also added his thoughts on the whole violence in videoganmes debate, saying: "Violence in videogames, if you can call it violence - you have to take it into perspective. I don't think that people go out and steal cars because they play a car stealing game, any more than I think that someone is going to shoot somebody because they play a shooting game. You don't do that because that a game."
He adds: "It's up to parents and family members to know what their children are doing and how much time they spend doing it and the impact those things have on them. People playing Mario games don't make them like pasta any more."
Check out the entire video interview right here.

Wiis are hard to come by. We know. Every stop to consider just why, though? Why Nintendo didn't see this coming and just, you know...make more Wiis? Course you have. Nintendo's George Harrison has the answer:
Typically, we'd have begun stockpiling console hardware back in August. But this year, we were selling all the Wii we could get, and we got all the way through the summer with basically no inventory in our warehouse.
In other words, when they pitched the console to the mass market, they didn't foresee that the mass market doesn't buy consoles in the traditional "everything at Christmas" model the industry's used to. Those types will buy it 24/7, 365. Chalk that one up to a lesson learned, Nintendo.
