Nintendo offered a tour of Animal Crossing during its recent Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast, and here it is.
Despite the fact you'll likely have no idea what Nintendo boss man Satoru Iwata is saying during the footage, those looking forward to Animal Crossing on 3DS will get a great tour of a town, with a glimpse of the insane amount of customisation that's possible.Animal Crossing for 3DS will make you the mayor of the town, which means you'll not only be able to customise your house but will also be in charge of decorating the entire town too.
The game's out in Japan on November 8, but won't arrive in the West until 2013.

Nintendo promised downloadable courses for New Super Mario Bros. 2's Coin Rush mode in the run up to launch, but has said nothing of it since. But they are still coming.
Following the Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation last night making no mention of the Mario DLC, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has sought to alleviate concerns with a statement promising its imminent release.'It has only been 10 days since the game's release in Europe and US,' says Iwata viaTwitter (thanks Andriasang), who says the developer need 'more time'.
He does go on to confirm, however, that the announcement will be made worldwide simultaneously, to keep everyone happy.
Coin Rush mode lets one or two players blast through three randomly selected stages with the aim of collecting as many coins as they can.

Jordan Mechner's classic martial arts fighter Karateka is headed for the Wii U, a recent ESRB rating states. We knew Karateka was coming to PSN and XBLA, but the ESRB lists PC, iOS and Wii U as platforms as well, suggesting Mechner's retrofitted ambition is deeper than he first teased. The ESRB describes the new Karateka as a "rhythm-fighting game" featuring Japanese warriors rescuing a princess, and all we can picture now is Mario in a kimono beating the tar out of some rhythms.http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/27/ka...too-esrb-says/

Pre-orders of Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 will come with a UEFA Champions League metallic cover, Konami announced today. The shiny limited edition covers will be available as a gift with pre-order purchases at GameStop in the US and EB in Canada. There's the alternative of a Copa Libertadores cover should the very thought of Europe's premier club competition make you want to do a . For whatever reason.
PES 2013's second demo hits this week, arriving on XBLM on August 28 and PSN on August 29. The actual game comes to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC near the end of September, and Wii, PSP, 3DS, and PS2 later on this year.

Rumours have a habit of spreading like wildfire, and the most recent Wii Urelease date rumour is no exception. PDP allegedly leaked the release date during a GameStop managers' conference, but recent updates show it was a misunderstanding.
Gaming accessory maker PDP apparently leaked the North American release date for the Wii U during a GameStop managers' conference, where they were detailing upcoming products. This morning reports came through fromKotaku that the November 18 release date 'was all a misunderstanding," according to PDP's senior vice president of sales and marketing, William Otte.
PDP community manager Candace Hinton said "at this time we can't confirm Nintendo's dates and we don't know exactly what was heard, but we simply do not know that this point.," while Nintendo simply stated, "we have nothing to announce at this time."
There is a possibility the release date is November 18, and this is simply a cover up, so Nintendo can officially announce the Wii U release date at their event in New York - if of course that is what Nintendo are announcing.
At this time however, there is not much to say about the release date, except that is was just another rumour that may or may not hold any weight of truth.

Fceux SVN r2618 is compiled. FCEUX is a cross platform, NTSC and PAL Famicom/NES emulator that is an evolution of the original FCE Ultra emulator. Over time FCE Ultra had separated into many separate branches. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU. As the X implies, it is an all-encompassing FCEU emulator that gives the best of all worlds for the general player, the ROM-hacking community, and the Tool-Assisted Speedrun Community.

Sumo Digital didn't need to re-engineer the graphics of its upcoming game for Wii U, the developer disclosed in an interview. Sumo, currently working on Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, was worried the game's "effects and shaders" would need an overhaul on Wii U. Instead, the British studio was left impressed by the new console. The game's executive producer, Steve Lycett, described the graphics processing unit's capability as a "surprise."
Lycett also praised the Wii U's memory, arguing that its abundance helps make the console's graphics equal to that of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
"The Wii U looks as good any of the HD platforms," Lycett told Official Nintendo Magazine, "The Wii U has way more memory, so we can take advantage of that with less compression on elements and textures, so it will look all lovely and shiny."

Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to remember Nintendo Power. Not its passing, but its life. Nintendo Power will conclude 24 years of publication with a final issue this December. We've experienced the loss of many magazines over the years, but Nintendo Power's conclusion is different for many of us. Directly attached to childhood memories of so many, it was thepublication of both the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super NES at the dawn of the console era, with children of the late 80s and early 90s eagerly awaiting the magazine's arrival every month.
We've gathered some fond Nintendo Power memories from today's media after the break. Please feel free to share your happy memories too.

The Wii U specs have surprised many developers, particularly Sonic developer Steve Lycett, as he discusses what it was like developing Sonic And All-Stars Racing for the Wii U.
Steve Lycett spoke to ONM about what it was like developing Sonic And All-Stars Racing for Nintendo's next-gen console, the Wii U.Lycett explained that there is "always surprises and unexpected challenges when you develop on a new console," but the Wii U offered a good surprise, rather than a nightmare.
When Lycett and the team first started work on the Wii U "the first surprise was the capability of the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)." There were concerns that they would "need to re-engineer all the effects and shaders in the game, but they worked just fine."
The memory of the Wii U was also worthy of praise from Lycett, as he noted that "the Wii U looks as good as any of the HD platforms. The Wii U has way more memory, so we can take advantage of that with less compression on elements and textures, so it will look all lovely and shiny."
Sonic And All-Stars Racing isn't the only Wii U title shaping up to look just as good, if not better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Earlier this year, Randy Pitchford stated that the "Wii U version [of Aliens: Colonial Marines] has so much more to offer" than the PS3 and Xbox 360 titles.
Pitchford also praised the Wii U's controller, claiming it to be "the best controller" Nintendo have ever made, and perfect for the games he likes to play, and make.
We also can't forget Ubisoft's ZombiU - which is shaping up to be a must buy with the console.

A new version of the Nintendo DS emulator DuoS has been released.
Quote:
DuoS - Nintendo DS Emulator
sábado, 25 de agosto de 2012
Quick fix and update!
Both DuoS DSEMU links at Linkify has been updated.
The version, uploaded there now, doesn´t require the Visual Studio 2010 Runtime DLLs... which some PCs might not have previously installed.
Until writing some proper documentation, I can tell the emu requirements here:
- PC running Windows XP or newer, both x86 and X64 seem to be alright.
- PC´s CPU must support SSE2 features, basically begining from an old Pentium 4, AMD64 or newer is more than enough. DuoS setup tool will warn you in case SSE2 is not detected.
- .Net Framework 2.0 or newer, only necessary for running the setup tool. If you don´t care about the tool, you don´t need it. .Net 2.0 is already present in Windows versions Vista or newer, if you still use XP and need it, you can grab it from here.
- If you are running the "not fixed" version, you might need to install the Visual Studio 2010 Runtime DLLs, you can download them from here.
For the next release, I promise that the installer version will handle all this stuff automatically.

Release time!
Well, finally I made it. I hope you all like it.
A few last minute bugs were detected last night, and some quality downgrade happened... but I wanted to keep my promise and release the emu as it is. There´s a lot of room for improvements, and stuff to improve... but it´s not all that bad for a Beta.
Next week, I´ll try to do some touches to DuoS older sister project AdriPSX PSEMU, so I might re-released it with some updates and fixes around next month. I haven´t touched its blog in ages, but you can visit it at http://adripsx.blogspot.com.
Please refer to the Download Links section, and send me feedback about the emu... you like it or not!
Thanks to you all for your continuous support!

A bit too "spartan" ?
This morning I fixed a few last minute bugs from the build...
I created an amiable installer... and coded a simple setup utility.
Since the begining, I wanted DuoS DSEMU to be as lightweight as possible... so far, that goal has been achieved, as the emulator itself is no more than 340kb in size...
With that in mind, I never really cared about features such as keyboard config, joystick support, screenshot support, video recording and such... I´ve always thougth that when you run an emu, what matters is to be able to play.
But then, I´ve received more than one complain regarding keyboard config... so, early this morning I coded this:
It certainly achieves its function... and I must admit I´m not a graphics artist myself.
One of my closest beta-testers has already call it "too spartan" (disciplined and conservative with little to no decoration or color)...
Will anyone care if I ship the first release, tomorrow, using it?
I just await for comments...

DuoS almost ready for first beta release
After a very long weekend of testing and last minute improvements, DuoS DSEMU is almost ready for its very first beta release.
Savestate and Savegame support is working very well, and has succeded in all my tests so far; SPU (sound) performance has increased a lot. Only smaller minutae is left, such as manual, licence text files, settings menu and a fully featured installation package.
If no further problems arise: DuoS DSEMU,Nintendo DS Emulator, will see the light this friday.

DuoS is ringing!
Just last night DuoS attained the state where I may say that "sound emulation" is working.
SPU synch & resampling seems to we working good, fast and stable.
I implemented some SSE2 instructions for optimization, so now we need to implement some more functions to enable/disable SSE2 code based on CPU detection (not all CPUs have SSE2).
Most probably tonight, DuoS binaries will be shipped to our beta testers.
After attaining this stage, and if no further big bugs are found, only save-game functions are left.
First release is coming very close!

DuoS is flying!
After the last major improvementdone on DuoS, emulation performance has increased very significanlty. An almost fully featured Dynamic Recompilation Engine has been succesfully integrated, without messing much with emulation timing, and the latest version of GPU skipping works like a charm, without adding any kind of graphical artifact on screen.
Basically, this means : realtime/normal speed emulation on a normal non-accelerated PC without consuming a lot of CPU... as well as a new 8x FastForward feature.. in a relatively high compatibility Nintendo DS emulator ( just use your imagination ).
Regardin the still missing features; Sound is already working, but crappy and with very limited support; a full re-sampler is in the works, which might be ready after next weekend.
After that, only the savegame system is missing...
Once I get tese final features working in an acceptable way, DuoS DSEMU first public release will see the light.

DynaRec and FrameSkip
After all this time that I´ve dedidated to produce DuoS, I can assure that there isn´t any portion of a DS emulator more CPU consuming than its GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
I´ve tried to optimize it in a lot of ways, without relaying on the host´s (PC´s) multithreading and GPU accelleration as much as I could... in order not to compromise emulation quality and compatibility. To be honest, regarding this... I already ran out of ideas.
On the other hand, since last night, DuoS has now a fully enabled Dynamic Recompiler core, and do not relay on "secondaty calls" to the Interpreter core anymore. This is translated into a huge speed up, as well as a very noticeable reduction of CPU usage in the host computer. It will be the work of our noble testers to determine how does this affect DuoS´s compatibility... but we will soon find out.
In the meanwhile... I see a couple of days of continuous debugging coming my way...

Emulation Dev Resources
Just for answering Marranus´ question from the other day:
For DuoS, specifically, I digged most of the hardware hacking from the awesome documents of No$GBA, then lots and lots of playing around with DevKitPro... also, studying how the guys from DeSmuME made their GPU (which I must say is AWESOME!) saved lots of time... and finally, I must admit that I´m re-using lots of code from my own previous emulation projects . An extensive personal library of emulation functions stored in my laptop comes really handy...

Lots of fixes, and a nice performance increase
I spent most of my Saturday making fixes to my ARM Dynamic Recompiler, which were causing some games to just "freeze"... this was a major boomer, as I was becoming very proud of the emu high compatibility. So far it seems to be ok, but I still haven´t managed to get the time to test it on more than a dozen of games yet.
On the other hand, I replaced the WinDIB functions for Direct3D based ones... the speed enhancement is amazing! Now I can say that as far as the Software Renderer is not forced too much, lots of games are fully playable in full speed, with just a little frameskip.
Here are a couple of screen captures from the games I was fixing the Recompiler for, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Castlevania : Dawn of Sorrow.
BTW, after some complains, I added a simple synch icon to the emu, also version number has been increased to 0.110, according to my Devevlopment Road Document.

Some screenshots
Here are the latests screenshots I took, after having fixed the Gouraud Lighting, and plenty of other Software Renderer issues. Performance has been greatly increased by the smart usage of skips on GPU operations, and not just skipping frames to the display window.
These shots are from Super Mario 64 DS, The Logic Machine and Labyrinth.
Pleas notice that I haven´t given an icon to DuoS yet, so suggestions are welcomed.
