Nintendo revealed the pricing for the Australian, European and US markets for the Wii U two weeks ago, and now it's New Zealand's turn, but something tells us they won't be happy.
The Wii U launches in Australia, New Zealand and across Europe November 30, while North America gets the console a little early on November 18.The pricing revealed so far for the console seems fairly reasonable. The basic model, which comes in white with 8GB of built-in flash memory, a GamePad, HDMI cable and AC adapter, retails for AU$350, US$299 and £260. Meanwhile in New Zealand, the basic model will cost NZ$470.
The premium model which comes in black with 32GB of built-in memory, a GamePad, stand for console and GamePad, sensor bar, charging cradle for the GamePad, Nintendo Land, HDMI cable, AC adapter and Nintendo Network Premium Reward Program retails for AU$430, US$349 and £310. New Zealand's premium model is set to retail at NZ$570.
Nintendo have said that the pricing is due to exchange rates as of September 20, and suggest customers "refer to stores for best possible price."

"IBM has confirmed that the Wii U isn’t powered by a Power 7 CPU but it is powered by a Power-based microprocessor ending months of speculations. Nintendo announced the availability of its next-gen gaming console – the Wii U for North America, Europe and Japan a couple of weeks back. Reports have been flowing in that the CPU might just not be up to the mark and that games were slowing down at times when there were multiple characters coming in at the same time during game play. In a tweet, IBM said, “WiiU chip clarification: It's a ‘Power-based microprocessor

Wii U license deal doesn't mean Unity for handheld anytime soon
[h=3]Nintendo[/h]nintendo-europe.com
[h=3]Unity[/h]
Unity Technologies developer relations officer Tracy Erickson has revealed the company is not currently looking to support the Nintendo handheld.
"Regarding Nintendo 3DS, that's kinda like asking about Pikmin 4 when Pikmin 3 hasn't even come out yet," she told NintendoLife.
"The relationship between Nintendo and Unity has reached an exciting new level and we're focused on Wii U. Timing is important here since the console launches in this year, too. While there are no current plans to support Nintendo 3DS, we're always looking at what platforms make sense for us to support, where developer demand is, and the opportunities available for our developer community."
Earlier this month Unity signed a major license deal with Nintendo to distribute the Unity engine to its network of studios, internal and external.
"The response has been phenomenal. Unity developers see the opportunity on Wii U; they want to innovate, they want to push the hardware, they want to try new things," added Erickson.
"Many of these developers haven't worked with a console before or perhaps haven't interacted with Nintendo. Naturally, there's a desire to see how Nintendo moves forward in distributing Unity via the Wii U SDK - pricing, availability, options for publishing - these are important questions that will be answered in the coming months."

The Nintendo Wii U will be region-locked, preventing the playing of games imported from other regions, Nintendo has confirmed.
The publisher made its position clear to Japanese magazine Famitsu, where the comment was translated and posted to NeoGaf. Nintendo has since confirmed the move to various global news outlets.
"What can be played on the Wii U is restricted by a region-lock feature;" the comment reads. "Software not sold in the same region cannot be played."
With release and translation schedules often varying wildly between regions and continents, some games never achieve commercial release outside their home territories or experience long delays.
Although these titles are not deemed popular enough to make it commercially viable to bring them to new regions, fans waiting for certain titles will import games in order to play them. A region-locked machine makes that impossible.
Many titles have seen great success grow from the somewhat fanatical evangelism of importers. Final Fantasy, for example, was really pushed into the collective consciousness in the UK by the efforts of magazines such as Super Play, which exhorted readers to import the US version of Final Fantasy III until Nintendo recognised the demand.

The idea that Nintendo has blocked the release of Bayonetta 2 on rival platforms is inaccurate.
Indeed, it transpires that without the partnership of Nintendo, Platinum Games would not have been able to greenlight the project at all.
"Would Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo? The answer is yes," Platinum’s executive director Atsushi Inaba told Polygon. "We are not viewing this as a change of platform. We were looking for a partner to create Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo was a strong, cooperative partner that was willing to create and grow Bayonetta 2 together [with us]. As a result the platform became the Wii U."
The developer also claims that the switch of platforms won’t impact on their overall design goals for the game, though may perhaps lead to some new ideas being introduced.
"We create the basic framework of our games on the PC, so even though the hardware changes it doesn't influence the creation of our games,” Inaba added. “We've already developed our own engine to work with multiple platforms.
"Because of the Wii U GamePad, we are putting extra thought into how to use these differentiating features. There's a difference in the game design side, but we are enjoying the challenges of creating games for new hardware."
Inaba admits that his initial hope for the title was as a multiplatform release, but that was scuppered when former partner Sega decided that it was to scale back on the number of titles it publishes.
Indeed, Platinum’s last release, Anarchy Reigns, has to date only been published in Japan. It’s not certain when – or if – the game will arrive on Western shores.

Dolphin Git 3.0-768 is compiled. This is the trunk of Dolphin Project. Dolphin is the first Gamecube emulator able to run commercial games! Dolphin is a great Gamecube(NGC) and Wii emulator. It has a partial Wii support and plays most Gamecube games. Dolphin has been changed SVN to Git recently.
Dolphin Git changelog:
* This changes a mmap in MemArena so you don't need 786MB of memory free to actually allocate the 1GB memory space in Linux 32bit. I was also running in to this issue in my development. Kudos to plbl4ster to actually taking the time to research this. Closes issue 5625.

Over time FCE Ultra had separated into many separate branches. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU. As the X implies, it is an all-encompassing FCEU emulator that gives the best of all worlds for the general player, the ROM-hacking community, and the Tool-Assisted Speedrun Community.

To be among the elite video game players at the Pokémon World Championships, players must collect and train a powerful Pokémon team, spend countless hours preparing for battle, and plan a strategy for the intense competition they must face. For a select few players who competed at the 2012 Pokémon World Championships in Hawaii, their hard work, dedication, and success earned them a place in the upcoming Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 video games launching 12th October in the UK.
The Pokémon Company International announced today that 12 video game finalists from this year’s Pokémon World Championships—including three-time World Champion Ray Rizzo—will be the basis for Pokémon Trainers in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 to challenge players as part of the in-game Pokémon World Tournament. Beginning on 22nd October, three distribution events via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service will unlock Pokémon World Tournament events featuring those finalists. Each distribution will feature four finalists from a Pokémon World Championships age division, and you can battle them after reaching the Pokémon World Tournament found in the Unova region’s Driftveil City.
You will battle the Pokémon teams that these top Trainers used at the 2012 Pokémon World Championships, including their moves, held items, Abilities, and Natures. Ray Rizzo’s lineup of Tyranitar, Garchomp, Cresselia, Hydreigon, Metagross, and Rotom proved too strong for the competition as he battled his way to an unprecedented third Pokémon World Championships title. The Pokémon World Tournament gives players the chance to test their mettle against Gym Leaders and other popular Trainers from past Pokémon games, as well as these real-world Pokémon Trainers.
To participate in the Pokémon World Tournament distributions, you will need to have a copy of Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2, a system in the Nintendo DS family or the Nintendo 3DS, and wireless broadband Internet access. More information, including dates for all three distributions, the complete list of finalists that will be included in the distributions, and further instructions on how to participate, will be announced 15th October.

Imagine if next month’s release of We Sing 80s wasn’t a glorious retrospective of the decade’s best tunes, but a contemporary release featuring current smash hits.
That’s the question posed by publisher Nordic Games, as it releases a video showing what We Sing 80s would have looked like had it been released on the most popular Nintendo console of the day.
The video shows a team of nostalgic fans that have been desperate to play singing games on their classic consoles crooning away to the most memorable 80s songs on the NES. Complete with 8-bit graphics and glorious 8-bit mono sound, including hits from Queen, Lionel Richie and the Human League, fansof the We Sing series can now see how it would look to truly roll back the years.
You can check out 80s enthusiast Jennifer Regan and friends getting to grips with their NES version here:
aS6CeD8I93E
“There are many nostalgic fans out there who would love to dust off their retro consoles and play singing games - this video gives them a taste of what it would be like,”says Nik Blower, Sales and Marketing Director, Nordic Games. “Music and videogame consoles were the decade’s most memorable exports so marrying the two together would be a match made in heaven.”
We Sing 80s – due for release on October 5th, exclusively on Nintendo Wii – is the latest in the hugely successful series of singing games.
The game continues to support up to four players simultaneously with four separate microphones. Party mode includes We Sing, Versus, Group Battle, Pass The Mic, First to X, Marathon, Blind and Expert. There’s also Solo mode, which can also be played in Blind and Expert mode. Karaoke mode strips the track of vocals to really challenge players, or those that fancy an authentic karaoke experience.
Other features include Singing Lessons to help singers fine tune their voices and a Jukebox to queue up songs like their own personal music channel.
In-game awards can be achieved by either single or multiplayer modes, adding further depth and replay value to We Sing 80s. Plus, once a track has been sung, players can replay performances and add cool effects to their voice.
Players can score extra points from hitting hard notes and Player Statistics give a detailed breakdown on performance on notes hit and missed with a comment on your performance at the end.
We Sing 80s is set to be released on the 5th October.

Fishing Cactus, the Belgian video game studio behind Shift and Creatures 4, today announces, in partnership with Armor Games, Aksys and Rising Star Games that the brain-smashing puzzle hit Shifting World for 3DS is hitting the shelves of all European stores while you're reading this. A FREE one-level demo is available for downloadthrough the 3DS eShop.
Originally released as a browser game that has now been played by over 20 million players worldwide, then ported to mobile smartphones and tablets, on which it has been downloaded and enjoyed by 16 million people, Shift is now making the jump into full 3D in this exclusive 3DS edition titled Shifting World. This is by no means a straight port but rather a reinvention that takes full advantage of the extra dimension. The famous monochrome styleremains, and so does the core principle of the gameplay: invert the world to best the levels. Player will constantly switch between 3D and 2D views to find his way through 60 levels spread over 5 unique worlds.
Shifting World has been developed and designed by Fishing Cactus, in collaboration with license-holder Armor Games and U.S. publisher Aksys. Aksys has already launched the game in Northern America and Japan, where steady sales have already established the title as a solid slowburner. Shifting World is brought to European shores through reputable distributor Rising Star Games.
"We are very proud to bring the Shift franchise to a Nintendo platform, and we truly believe we have done the 3DS justice by exploiting its best features in this Shifting World opus. We're also excited to team up with a savvy publisher such as Rising Star Games for distribution of the title across Europe.", stated Bruno Urbain, Studio Manager at Fishing Cactus.
