Watch Dogs is due out between April and June, during Ubisoft's Q1 2014 - 2015, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The Wii U version has been delayed, Ubisoft confirmed to Game Informer.
"We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team's resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft," CEO Yves Guillemot said during Ubisoft's financial call.
Watch Dogs was intended to be a next-gen launch game, but was delayed to spring 2014 a month before the new console launches. At the time of the delay, Guillemot said, "In a world of mega-blockbusters, we have now come to the conclusion that the team needed additional time to realize the game's full potential."

Much of the criticism aimed at now-defunct smartphone title Flappy Bird concerned allegations of IP infringement.
Some quarters of the press and development community criticised the game’s creator Dong Nguyen for his use of a green pipe design that quite clearly references Nintendo’s Mario platform series.
However, Nintendo spokesperson Yasuhiro Minagawa has confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that Nintendo itself had not filed any complaints about the game.
“While we usually do not comment on the rumours and speculations, we have already denied the speculation” he said.
Speculation remains concerning the exact reason for Nguyen’s decision to pull the game. He has previously insisted that it was not a legal matter, and indeed it certainly doesn’t seem as if he was being leant on by Nintendo.
A more likely cause is the sudden outburst or press attention endured by the developer, some of which has been undeniably vile.
Nguyen has remained silent on Twitter since the game’s removal.

IGN says it has verified a listing found on online retailer Base is legitimate.
The site reports the bundle, which is listed for £199.99 will be released on March 14, on the same day as Yoshi's New Island.
The game is being produced by Takashi Tezuka, who served as creative director on 1995's original Yoshi's Island for SNES.
It maintains series gameplay mechanics such as Yoshi's flutter jump, ground-pound and egg throw, while introducing new ones that make use of 3DS features like gyro sensor functionality.
Nintendo recently confirmed that members of its founding Yamauchi family have sold some of their stake in the company as part of a 114 billion-yen ($1.1 billion) share buyback initiative.
The heirs to former chief executive Hiroshi Yamauchi owned about 10 per cent of Nintendo's equity, Nintendo said in a statement. Nintendo purchased 9.5 million shares, or about 7.4 per cent of its outstanding stock, as part of a wider move to give the business more clout in making future mergers or acquisitions.

AeternoBlade, a side-scrolling, combo-driven action adventure game from CoreCell Technology, will slice up foes on February 18 on the 3DS eShop. The date was revealed on AeternoBlade's Facebook page, with its $14.99 price tagconfirmed in a responding comment on the same status. AeternoBlade follows protagonist Freyja's quest for revenge, the lone survivor of a village that the devilish-looking Beladim burned down, presumably for funsies.
As Freyja stumbles away from the blazing remains of her village, a stranger gives her the Aeterno Blade, which allows her to manipulate time. This lets players rewind their way out of deaths and slow down time in general. Besting enemies supplies Freyja with one of four orb types, which can be used to upgrade abilities or regenerate health, magic or Ultimate Points. Magic serves as the resource for time manipulation, while Ultimate Points fuel larger attacks.
A level-up system, a tree of unlockable combos and equippable, stat-boosting relics strengthen Freyja throughout her journey. Relics are managed in sets of three, and players can swap sets using the touchscreen mid-battle to adjust for a specific encounter's demands.
If you're curious, a demo for AeternoBlade is currently available on the eShop.

If you've recently had some difficulty tracking down the part dungeon raider, part agricultural simulator Rune Factory 4, publisher XSEED Entertainment has some good news for you: The shortage is temporary.
A post on XSEED's Facebook page explains that RF4 is selling "well beyond our expectations, so we're working as quickly as possible to restock physical copies." The post also thanks fans for making the game a "major success."
While waiting on a restock might be annoying, at least North American fans were spared from getting their hopes up for nothing. In Europe, Rune Factory 4was planned to be published by MarvelousAQL, but the release was canceledin January. At the time, Marvelous stated that securing RF4's release for Europe was "not possible to do."

The relentless march of time may bring with it incredible advances in gaming technology, but there's a cost too: with each passing year, the number of working vintage consoles slowly but surely diminishes. Some fail simply due to age, others due to the fact that they've been serving their owners dutifully for much longer than was ever anticipated when they were first manufactured. While it's true that "they don't make them like they used to" (you're unlikely to see many launch Xbox 360 consoles match the Atari 2600 by lasting three decades and still functioning), there's a definite lifespan to these classic systems, and indeed all consumer tech. Sooner or later, they're likely to stop working.Chances are, if you're a keen retro enthusiast, you may already have experienced a death in your (hardware) family - which is one of the reasons why the market for clone systems continues to grow each year. As patents expire and technology progresses, it's becoming easier for third-party manufacturers to legally replicate the performance of past systems in cheap-and-cheerful machines. Companies like Hyperkin - which is preparing to launch its all-in-one Retron 5 system this year - are filling the void left by Nintendo and Sega. Unsurprisingly, neither company is interested in offering replacements for hardware that is now over two decades old, and that's where the clones come in.Challenging Hyperkin in the 2014 "Clone Wars" is fellow industry stalwart Retro-Bit, which has produced numerous clone systems over the past few years, including the RetroDuo and RetroDuo Portable. Keen to capitalise on the renewed interest in clone hardware triggered by the announcement of the Retron 5 - which runs NES, Famicom, SNES, Mega Drive and Game Boy Advance titles - last year, Retro-Bit lifted the lid on its own all-in-one system: the Super Retro Trio. As the title suggests, this device plays three different old-school formats: NES, SNES and Genesis (to give Sega's 16-bit system its North American moniker - the rest of the world refers to it as the Mega Drive). In actual fact, the name is slightly misleading, as Retro-Bit's machine is also capable of playing Game Boy Advance and Game Boy games via additional peripherals - which we'll get on to shortly. At a cost of $69.99 - that's just over £40 - this console is hardly going to break the bank, and it's worth keeping that low price in mind when you rip open the packaging and delve inside. The Super Retro Trio is sturdy enough, but it's a long way from being a premium product. It feels light, and the cheap plastic used in its construction does little to instill confidence. When removing games from the cartridge slots, there's a definite degree of flex to the top part of the casing but even so, it never feels like it's going to fall apart at any point and the myriad controller ports on the front - a pair for each of the replicated formats - are solid enough.

Sega Sammy revealed Sonic: Lost World shipped 640,000 units across Wii U and 3DS in 2013, as the company looks ahead to the mascot's new guise in the also Nintendo-exclusive Sonic Boom. The figure comes via newly published financial reports for the nine months ending December 31, 2013, in which Sega Sammy also shipped 680,000 units of Football Manager 2014 on PC. The company didn't state if either figure included download sales.
The two games contributed to total packaged software shipments of 6.31 million across the nine months, down year-on-year by 9 percent. However, Sega Sammy noted "favorable" performances for Phantasy Star Online 2, and other downloadable games like smartphone entries Puyopuyo Quest and Chain Chronicle.
Sega put down 14 billion yen to acquire Persona dev Atlus from Index in November 2013, but the company's nine-month figures show a net profit of 44.3 billion yen, which converts to around $434 million. The company made substantial gains in the period through sales of investment securities and non-current assets.
Sega Sammy's financial report comes the day after the company unveiled Sonic Boom, a game with a new art style that looks to take the mascot in yet another fresh direction. It's due this year, with western studios Big Red Button and Sanzaru handling the Wii U and 3DS versions respectively.

Earlier this week, the wall-scrolling blaster Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Railswas assigned a March release on the Wii U eShop. However, NintendoLife'sexchange with developer Dakko Dakko suggests the platformer isn't due for North America or Europe until April. The above trailer's description on YouTube reflects the April time window as well.
Neither an exact date or price have been announced yet, but consideringScram Kitty was initially shown in an eShop indie sizzle reel in November, just having the release month is a start. April would be a good choice, too - afterDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in February and Watch Dogs sometime this spring, the Wii U's next big release, Mario Kart 8,isn't due until May.

When a group of friends accumulate deaths and treasure while traversing the trap-filled screens of 1,001 Spikes, they may channel some classic protagonists. NintendoWorldReport recently described a few of 1,001 Spikes' multiplayer elements, like 4-player co-op in the main game, a king-of-the-hill style battle for a money-spewing jar, and the vertically-oriented Tower of Nanner that limits each player to nine lives. Aside from teamwork and brutal competition, 1,001 Spikes' roster of characters will also host throwbacks to classic games.
For instance, NWR describes a plumber-esque Mr. Video Game character that can hurl fireballs, as well as a knight that's disrobed during his death, a nod to Sir Arthur from the Ghosts n Goblins series. NWR notes another, ninja-like character that bares resemblance to the Ninja Gaiden series' Ryu Hayabusa, with a whip-wielding hero serving as a nod to Castlevania's Belmont family. Even CommanderVideo from the Bit.Trip Runner series has signed up for 1,001 Spikes' death-ridden landscape.
1,001 Spikes is a remake of Aban Hawkins and the 1,000 Spikes, previously available via Xbox Live Indie Games. 1,001 Spikes is planned to launch on the 3DS and Wii U in Q1 of 2014, with releases also planned for the PS4, Vita, PC, Mac and Linux.

Yoshi is getting a special 3DS XL bundle for his third shift of babysitting, Yoshi's New Island, according to a report by IGN. The report expands on UK retailer Base's listing for such a bundle - while IGN confirms the bundle's existence for North America, the report notes that Base's listing image is a "fan mock-up."
The Yoshi bundle is due on March 14, sharing a release date with Yoshi's New Island. Base lists the bundle at £199, which matches the Zelda 3DS XL bundle's UK launch price. The North American version of the Zelda bundle sold for $219.99.
We got our hopes up last year for a special Luigi 2DS last year, but that turned out to be the handiwork of Rose Colored Gaming. We got a Mario & Luigi: Dream Team 3DS XL bundle instead, which is almost as cool as the RCG's Luigi-engraved 2DS mod. Almost.

Snes9x Git (2014/02/05) is compiled. Snes9x is a portable, freeware Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator. It basically allows you to play most games designed for the SNES and Super Famicom Nintendo game systems on your PC or Workstation; which includes some real gems that were only ever released in Japan. Snes9x is the result of well over three years worth of part-time hacking, coding, recoding, debugging, divorce, etc. (just kidding about the divorce bit). Snes9x is coded in C++, with three assembler CPU emulation cores on the i386 Linux and Windows ports.
Snes9x Git changelog:
* Fix some compiler warnings.
* Simplify window recreation.
* Fix reconfiguring the X11 sub-window every draw.

Fceux SVN r3046 is compiled. FCEUX is a cross platform, NTSC and PAL Famicom/NES emulator that is an evolution of the original FCE Ultra emulator. Over time FCE Ultra had separated into many separate branches. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU. As the X implies, it is an all-encompassing FCEU emulator that gives the best of all worlds for the general player, the ROM-hacking community, and the Tool-Assisted Speedrun Community.
Fceux SVN changelog:
r3046
fix bugs in some debuggerPageSize cases
