For years, gamers have struggled to reconcile their desire to show their love of a video game franchise and their desire to play golf. Well fret no longer comrades, because the Mario golf bag is here, and it looks ... um, it looks ... well, it certainly is a golf bag. It's got pockets and slots and everything!
Golf players are somewhat known for their interesting choices in fashion, and what better way to complement the loud colors and patterns of players' clothing than with an equally ... uh ... provocative golf bag? A provocative golf bag that will cost you 48,500 yen (about $473) when ordered through the Enjoy! Caddie Bag Store.
In all seriousness, it's not like we haven't seen stranger things, and there's no mistaking this bag for anything else out there. If the greens are where you want to show your love for all things Mario, who are we to judge?

A supposed scan of a Toys R Us ad indicates a new Pokemon X and Y sale is on the horizon. The ad, courtesy of a GoNintendo tipster, states that new 3DS XL or 2DS buyers who additionally pick up one of six games and register their gear on Club Nintendo in March will receive a download code for Pokemon X or Y.
The six eligible games buyers may be picking from are Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Yoshi's New Island, Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins, Super Mario 3D Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Mario Kart 7. As it stands now, there's no confirmation of the deal on either Club Nintendo or Toys R Us' sites. We've reached out to Nintendo for more information and will update as we learn more.

Sega Genesis homebrew-turned-modern console release Pier Solar HD has been pushed back to an April launch on all platforms, developer WaterMelonconfirmed this week.
WaterMelon's retro-styled RPG was originally set to launch digitally in March for the PlayStation 3, PS4, Wii U, PC, Mac, Linux, Android, Ouya and Dreamcast platforms. The project earned over $230,000 in backer pledges when it turned to Kickstarter for funding in 2012.
Ports for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One are also in the works, pending WaterMelon's acceptance into Microsoft's ID@Xbox self-publishing program. WaterMelon studio president Tulio Goncalves additionally hinted at the possibility of a 3DS port in a recent interview with Nintendo Enthusiast, explaining that the Wii U version's second-screen functionality would transfer easily to Nintendo's portable platform.

Jakks Pacific has partnered with Nintendo to launch the first ever Nintendo licensed Mario Kart ride-on.
Known as the Super Mario Kart Ride-On, the vehicle is the real life counterpart to Mario's kart as seen in the Mario Kart 7 video game.
While it doesn't come with a barrage of Red Shells, Banana Skins or speed-boosting mushrooms, it does feature the full range of sound effects from the popular game.
The ride-on will be available throughout the UK from autumn/winter this year and will sit within Jakks Pacific's portfolio of 6V ride-ons.

International Trade Commission sides with Mario maker, denies claims from three patent-licensing companies
[h=3]Nintendo[/h]nintendo-europe.com
Nintendo has emerged victorious in yet another patent dispute. The company today announced that the International Trade Commission denied claims from a trio of outfits alleging that the 3DS and DSi infringed on their patents.
Nintendo noted that the three companies--Technology Properties Limited LLC, Phoenix Digital Solutions LLC, and Patriot Scientific Corporation--are all patent-licensing operations, groups that make money licensing their patent portfolios, but don't actually use them to make products.
"We are very pleased with the commission's determination, which confirmed the judge's finding that Nintendo's products do not infringe the asserted patent," said Nintendo of America VP and deputy general counsel Richard Medway. "Nintendo's track record demonstrates that we vigorously defend patent lawsuits, including cases in the ITC, when we believe we have not infringed another party's patent. Nintendo continues to develop unique and innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others."
Nintendo has publicly touted a series of patent suit victories over the past decade, many of them directed at the company's successful DS, Wii, and Wii Fit products. However, the company's track record is not unmarred. Last year it lost a suit over the 3DS brought against it by a former Sony inventor. A jury awarded the inventor $30.2 million in damages, an amount a judge later deemed excessive and cut in half.

Two Namco games previously released on Game Boy Advance have been certified by the Australian Classification Board
Mr Driller 2 and Klonoa: Empire Of Dreams have never been re-released since they originally came to GBA, which suggests these new classifications refer to upcoming re-releases on another system.
Although Namco developed both games, the publisher for each has been listed as Nintendo, meaning they are likely to be among the first batch of third-party GBA games to be released on the Wii U Virtual Console.
Nintendo's Satoru Iwata announced last week that it would be adding Game Boy Advance games to the Wii U's Virtual Console service starting in April.
The first batch of first-party games confirmed include Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 and Metroid Fusion.
"Over time, we will continue to release more titles, so please stay tuned" Iwata added.
Nintendo has yet to confirm whether the 3DS will also receive Game Boy Advance titles through its Virtual Console service.
Ten free GBA games were given to early 3DS adopters as part of Nintendo's 3DS Ambassador Program, but at the time the company said it had no plans to make them available for general sale.

Luigi's time in the spotlight will conclude on March 18, when The Year of Luigiofficially comes to a close. The clock's ticking on your "in this, The Year of Luigi" jokes!
The Year of Luigi is Nintendo's marketing campaign celebrating the 30th anniversary of Mario's slender and squeamish brother. The promotion began in early 2013 and heralded the release of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Super Luigi U, a custom 3DS bundle and other Luigi-centric goods.
In the announcement post on Miiverse, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto says The Year of Luigi Community and its Developers' Room will shut down next month, and no new posts will be accepted on Miiverse. "Thanks to everyone's kind support, we were able to release many Luigi games over the course of the year," Miyamoto writes. "I hope everyone continues to cheer for the green brother!"
Regardless of your feelings toward gaming's under-appreciated bro, we can all agree The Year of Luigi was a success and has enriched all of our lives – if only for that time we watched .

Platform holder Nintendo has launched a new YouTube channel called Nintendo Girls Club.
86 years on from women getting equal voting rights in the UK, this fresh move sees the company trying to maintain the success it found with DS and Wii in reaching out to non-traditional markets.
The first video sees Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter – who has been placed in a room replete with girly cushions, girly pastel colours and even some sparkly girly lights on the end of a girly bed – discussing elements of Animal Crossing: New Leaf that Nintendo thinks could appeal to the female market.
Other presenters seen in the videos include Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) and video blogger Mandy Hynes
The Nintendo Girls Club logo contains a crown, presumably because all girls want to be a princess, right?
You can see the full selection here. Below we’ve included Porter’s Animal Crossing video just to prove that even girls can enjoy games nowadays:

February 17th, 2014, 21:21 Posted By: wraggster
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the latest from Retro Studios, is released this week.
In our Tropical Freeze review we said: "Tropical Freeze is old-fashioned, but it's exquisitely fashioned, too; as long as you're not expecting a genre-shaking masterpiece, you'll find plenty to enjoy."
Reviews have been appearing on other sites too so, as is tradition, we've rounded them up in one easy to digest package. Here's a look at how it's being received:
- Official Nintendo Magazine (Issue 105): 86% Retro's starting to pull the same trick it managed for Metroid - Tropical Freeze draws on decades-old ideas and punches them into excellent new shapes.
- GamesRadar: 4/5 - If you crave a challenge, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will bring out the best of your platforming abilities. Those expecting a cakewalk will feel like they slammed headfirst into a brick wall of difficulty.
- Edge: 7/10 - There's a tactility that was missing from Donkey Kong Country Returns, though Tropical Freeze lacks the physicality of Jungle Beat and its bongo controls, which are still a closer match for the protagonist's abilities. EAD Tokyo captured the ape's brute strength but also the curious grace of his movements, which carried a certain laid-back elegance when strung together. Here he's an unstoppable force, a runaway train whose momentum can be tricky to arrest. During Tropical Freeze's most exacting sequences, you may yearn for Mario's reliability, but the bludgeoning force of Retro's presentation is enough to carry a powerful, if traditional, platformer over the finish line.
- Destructoid: 10/10 - I didn't think it was possible, but Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has topped Returns. It's an incredibly crafted platformer with an HD sheen and an insane attention to detail, and any fan of the genre owes it to themselves to experience it. With the addition of control options to the already proven formula, Retro Studios' rendition of Donkey Kong is pretty much flawless.
- Game Informer: 9.25 - Players accustomed to the eight core worlds of DKC Returns might be surprised that there are only six in Tropical Freeze. Even though there are fewer total levels this time around, the individual stages are longer than an average level from the previous game. In the end, I'd rather have a slightly smaller collection of Retro Studios' best levels than one bloated up with lesser-quality stages in order to hit an arbitrary number. That finely cultivated assortment is exactly what you get with Tropical Freeze.
- IGN: 9.0 - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a great platformer full of tense sequences and tough levels. Boss battles are a huge highlight, and it's packed with hard-to-find secrets and collectibles. Multiplayer could use some improvement, but I found myself laughing whenever my teammate and I wiped out on some of these unforgiving setups. But a rewarding sense of accomplishment stuck with me each time I overcame a new obstacle, and that feeling kept me going all the way to the end.
- Polygon: 8.5 - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze could've easily been a me-too sequel. Its much-loved predecessor reinvigorated the series and did so much with the 2D framework that Retro could've released a bunch of new stages and called it a day. But Tropical Freeze adds intelligently to the formula, with new characters that imbue subtle nuance to the gameplay, a better-tuned challenge level and an increased emphasis on replay value. These features make Tropical Freeze consistently worth coming back to, and mark it as a high point for the series.
- Joystiq: 4.5 - At this point, there's not much written here that couldn't have been repurposed from a review of 2010's Donkey Kong Country Returns - and that's both the problem and the recommendation. Sure, there's swimming in lovely blue waters, a pleasant soundtrack by series composer David Wise and even prettier backgrounds for Retro's ingenious levels, but meaningful growth is kept to a minimum. Such is the blessing and curse of refrigeration.
- Gaming Age: A+ - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze marks another high-quality release for Nintendo on the Wii U, and adds one more reason to pick up the hardware if you haven't already. It's another fantastic platformer delivered with absolute care from developer Retro Studios, and it's another shining gem in the small but impressive line-up for Wii U. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze definitely qualifies as a must-have title for Nintendo fans everywhere.
- Nintendo World Report: 8.5 - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze brought a constant smile to my face, even when I died in a horrific way or had to come to terms with a difficult level. The variation goes deeper than Returns ever did and makes Retro's latest creation shine. While at a glance it may seem that this is just another platformer for the system, I feel that this is a game worth playing and exploring from beginning to end.
- Game Trailers: 9.1 - The evolution of Tropical Freeze from its predecessor isn't quite a giant leap for apekind, but it's a step in the right direction. It doesn't just maintain the status quo as a challenging platformer, but mixes in just enough new elements to prevent it from being just another rehash of the previous game. You'd be bananas to pass up the chance to add Tropical Freeze to your Wii U horde.
- Gamespot: 6/10 - If the regular levels were as inventive as the boss battles, then Tropical Freeze would be a surefire hit, or at least a game that demands more of your attention. No matter how much I was looking forward to seeing DK in HD, it's difficult to maintain that enthusiasm when the end product plays it so safe: even the visuals fail to make an impact. They're nice enough, but like the level design, the environments are mostly bland. While you could argue that the visual style is true to the series, I think even traditionalists wouldn't mind something with a little more pizzazz behind it. As it stands, this a sometimes fun but mostly uninspired and unimaginative entry in the Donkey Kong series.
- Eurogamer: 7/10 - I've played Nintendo games all my life, and while I enjoyed DKC Tropical Freeze, I can't help feeling saddened by it at the same time. DKC is becoming another Nintendo series where quality grows and importance shrinks with each faithful new instalment. Not all Nintendo's franchises have fallen into this pattern, but games like Tropical Freeze make me wonder whether they all eventually will, turning up to be damned by praise that appears fainter with every passing chapter.
- US Gamer: 4.5 - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze isn't the most ambitious game, but it throws its characters into unique and clever challenges with each new level. Nintendo would be pushing it if they went for another Donkey Kong game in this style, but for now, Tropical Freeze can sit alongside Super Mario 3D World as one of the finest platformers of this generation.

Who's that Pokemon? It's Pokemon X/Y's latest and rarest pocket monster, and if you want to dodge details until the very moment it's available for capture, this graf is your last chance to do so!
Pressing on? Alright - the above sillhouette belongs to Diancie, a rock/fairy type crowned with pink jewels. The Pokemon site explains that Diancie can "create diamonds out of thin air by compressing the carbon in the atmosphere with its hands. It uses these jewels in battle to attack enemies and protect itself."
The Pokemon site also notes that we'll have to "stay tuned" for information on when and how we'll be able to properly capture Diancie, so we'll just have to let it enjoy its final moments of freedom. For now. You can check out Diancie's first turns in battle in the trailer after the break!
