We've heard multiple times that people are tired of the BETA tag, so if we don't receive any serious complaints this will also soon be known as v2.9.2 stable. Plus of course this release fully supports the latest Nintendo Switch v9.0.1 firmware, if you had not noticed that are previous one did as well!
What's new in this update?- Local Multiplayer over the internet (LAN play) is working again. Somewhere down the line we introduced a regression in functionality causing local multiplayer emulation to be broken and/or out of sync with the current lan-play implementation. This has been addressed and should work correctly again.
- Extended scope of Stealth Mode Recently it has come to our attention that there was claims floating around about stealth mode being broken on SX OS v2.9+. We investigated these claims and are happy to let you know this is completely wrong. Stealth Mode behaved exactly the same like it always did.
Nonetheless, we took this feedback/rumour as an opportunity to further tighten down on the stealthiness. From now you cannot start the eShop application if you have stealth mode enabled. Furthermore all error reporting and telemetry has been neutered. That means errors that are generated while using SX OS that might get you "flagged" won't be queued up for delivery when you boot into OFW anymore either!
- Improved XCI game compatibility In our last update we already addressed some compatibility issues with re-packed XCI images, yet some XCI files were still not playable. We investigated this issue and as it turns out there are certain tools around (older versions of 'NSC Builder' for example) that generate bogus metadata for the (encrypted) 'Gamecard Info' that is part of the XCI header. Our gamecart emulation now detects these bad images and fixes them. If you want your XCI images to be future proof; please be careful with whatever post-processing you apply to XCI files though, we can't clean up after other people's mistakes indefinitely!
- Rebooting SX OS If you select "restart" now from the power options menu you will actually reboot into SX OS. There is no need to replug your SX Pro dongle or send a payload from your computer when doing so. Additionally, if an error occurs you can also reboot into SX OS by simply pressing the power button. Neat!

While the Nintendo 3DS isn’t a powerhouse by any definition of the word, it can still output some pretty decent graphics and do some pretty impressive things especially in regards to emulation. Now, its emulation capabilities have been expanded even further thanks to the folks at libretro provided your device is a New 3DS/2DS (XL) model.
The New Nintendo 3DS didn’t get many exclusive titles but the homebrew community used its improved capabilities to deliver good performance in PS1 and Commodore 64 titles (Vice3DS) – Image from linked blog post
According to a blog post on the libretro blog by Justin Weiss, some recent developments relating to PS1 emulation on the 3DS have pushed numerous original PlayStation games to playable territory on New 3DS/2DS consoles and these include:
- PCSX4ALL’s Unai renderer is now used in the 3DS builds of PCSX ReARMed which provides boosts of 10-20FPS over the previous P.E.Op.S. renderer that was being used
- This change comes at the cost of some accuracy but an enjoyable game is probably better than a more accurately rendered one!
- Support for the CHD format in the 3DS port which is a compression format best suited for disc images.
- This format reduces the file size of games and also improves their loading times. Framerate dips during FMVs and loading zones also get reduced
Furthermore, full speed cores (dynarec-enabled ones) can be launched from the homebrew menu through ‘3dsx’ files negating the need to litter your 3DS Menu with cores installed from CIA files to get the best experience.
To make use of the improvements mentioned above and play many PS1 games on your New 2/3DS console, follow this link to grab the latest Nightly builds. The next official release of RetroArch will implement the aforementioned improvements.

The original Wii was released back in November 2006 and has been hacked (and even fully emulated) for many years with a pretty beefy homebrew library as evidence of this. Fast forwarding 6 years to 2012, Nintendo released the cheaper red coloured Wii Mini which was effectively a normal Wii but without many features including GameCube support, only one USB port, reduced video-out capabilities and no internet or SD Card support. As a result of the latter two omissions, existing Wii hacks such as Letterbomb and FlashHax were rendered useless on it and this left it unhackable for many years.
This changed thanks to the work of FullMetal5 who managed to find and exploit a vulnerability in the console’s Bluetooth stack a little under three weeks ago. Now, he has kindly released Bluebomb which is a complete hack allowing you to get HackMii on your console and install the Homebrew Channel so that you can enjoy the full hacked Wii experience! Furthermore, the exploit is also compatible on the regular Wii console although using it takes more work than Letterbomb so Wii owners should probably stick with that exploit.
To get Bluebomb and finally liberate your Wii Mini, check out this link and follow the instructions. A Linux computer is needed in order to run the exploit on your system so make sure you have a Live CD on hand GBATemp has advised to wait a bit before doing any permanent modifications to the NAND as current tools aren’t tested with the Wii Mini.

On September 30, Nintendo released Switch Firmware 9.0.1 which is a minor update that comes with no new features except some bug fixes.
FW 9.0.1 is such a minor update that Atmosphere 0.9.4 works without any modification!
These fixes include:
- A bug in which you’re asked to remove joycons during set-up on a Switch Lite has been addressed
- The Switch Lite doesn’t have detachable joycons but the controls are part of the system itself
- An issue in which errors might’ve been triggered during playing games has been fixed
- This description is pretty vague as Nintendo didn’t specify exactly where the issue happened
Unlike many other Switch firmware updates, FW 9.0.1 doesn’t break Atmosphere CFW compatibility which has been confirmed by SciresM and various individuals online. Furthermore, users have indicated that most homebrew including RetroArch, Tinfoil, Checkpoint and NX-Shell are working just fine on this firmware which goes on to show how inconsequential its changes are when it comes to hacking console.
As of right now, there seems to be no definitive word as to whether sigpatches for FW 9.0.0 are compatibile with FW 9.0.1 but the general consensus is that they are since FW 9.0.1 didn’t change many files.

Incognito_RCM
since Incognito by blawar doesn't work on vanilla atmosphere, I made a payload to use with hekate (or any other payload injector) with the same functionality.
Incognito_RCM wipes personal information from your Nintendo Switch by removing it from prodinfo.
Functionality:
- wipe personal information on sysnand/emunand
- backup prodinfo from sysnand/emunand
- restore prodinfo to sysnand/emunand
Since NAND memory is encrypted, this is based on shchmue's Lockpick_RCM to first get the neccessary encryption keys.
You can apply Incognito_RCM directly after installing atmosphere or any time after and it has the advantage that you don't need to set 90DNS after an internet connection and possibly communication with nintendo servers is already established. (You can apply 90DNS anyway)
This has only been tested by me on firmware 8.1.0, so please test it and report back.
Since it has only been tested by me, keep a hekate nand backup ready to be safe.
source: https://github.com/jimzrt/Incognito_RCM
releases: https://github.com/jimzrt/Incognito_RCM/releases
Disclaimer:
This is early stage and there is no guarantee that everything works as expected! Please have a hekate NAND backup ready!
Changelog:
v0.1.0
- much faster read and write speed (not sector by sector anymore)
- much more validation and verification (still not perfect)
- more error handling (still not perfect)
- backups aren't overwritten, old backups are renamed
- check for backup before applying incognito
- auto-restore backup if something goes wrong
as always, have a NAND backup ready!
v0.0.2
- Removed external libraries and better handling of reading big chunks of memory.

In an undisclosed location of an unknown world… a robot was created in the shape of a lovely, human girl was created by unseen masters for the sole purpose of creating piles-and-piles of explosives. This robot wore a pink dress, pink gloves, and a pink helmet with a golden heart on the forehead. These traits quickly earned her a nickname among her peers: “Pretty Bomber.”
From day one, Pretty Bomber found her given task a bit boring. Being a creative construct, however, she would often find ways to turn her tedious tasks into a fun games. Some days, she timed herself, trying to beat her record for quickest bomb quota production. Other days, she amused herself by stacking the objects in piles of varying shapes. Eventually, though she grew bored of bomb production and wanted to do something else. On top of that, she was starting to get ideas… have dreams… but alas, she knew she was a robot that was made for one very dreary purpose, and nothing she could do would ever change that. Or, so she thought.
One day while on the assembly line, the humanoid robot overheard two of her co-workers chatting about rumors. Supposedly, robots who went to the surface never came back. When one asked the other “why,” the answer excited her.
They became human.
The idea of turning into a real girl and never having to make another bomb made her shift pass by very quickly and, that very night when she should have been sleeping… she slipped out of her recharge unit, slid by the sentries, and made a break for freedom!
Rushing through the corridors, Pretty Bomber kept her mind focused and her hopes high. On her way through the factory, however, she bumped into some unexpected fellows. The same people who had spoken of those magical rumors were wide-awake and working the late-night shift. When they noticed her, they asked what she was doing, so she explained her situation and asked if they wanted to come with her. It didn’t surprise her when they declined, but… she was utterly shocked when they began to make threats and approach her. It seemed like they were determined to keep her in the factory! Unfortunately for them… Pretty Bomber was far more determined to escape!
With a newfound fire guiding her actions, she concentrated, forming a heart-shaped bomb in her hands. Then, as she broke through the assembly line, she left the explosive behind… with fuse alight!
A powerful explosion rocked the factory, immediately followed by alarms blaring and lights flashing. With that single act of defiance… Pretty Bomber found herself fighting for her life in a desperate bid to leave her old life behind and follow her heart’s desires.
Did she ever make it to the surface? Were the rumors about becoming a human true? Find out the answers to these questions and more… by playing Bomberman™, Starring Pretty Bomber™! (Now available from this very website!)

Nintendo is bringing its Brain Training IP to the Switch, 14 years after the launch of the first game.
Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? -- known as Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day! in Japan -- was a key product for the Nintendo DS, bringing a more casual audience to the platform at the start of one of the most successful periods in Nintendo's history.
Nintendo has released a Japanese trailer for the new game, which shows players making use of the console's motion-sensing, multiplayer and touchscreen functions. According to Gematsu, the physical version of the game will come with a stylus accessory, which can be purchased separately for ¥864.
It is scheduled to launch on December 27 in Japan. Nintendo did not disclose details of its international release plans.

Over the past couple of decades we've become very accustomed to the notion of consoles getting their hardware redesigned mid-lifespan -- so much so that it's now almost taken for granted that these milestones will punctuate the life of any moderately successful piece of hardware.
The earliest example that really stuck in people's minds is probably Sony's "PSone", a diminutive re-imagining of the groundbreaking PlayStation that came late in that device's life. But both the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation S3 benefited hugely from being slimmed down in their mid-life (honestly, who among us wouldn't?), and the Xbox 360's coveted Elite redesign helped to establish the design language for Xbox that persists to this day.
Microsoft and Sony seem to have this down pat, in other words. Nintendo's track record is more... patchy. The Wii Mini, launched back in 2012, is largely a footnote in gaming history; the industrial design was lovely, but the system hacked out vast amounts of the Wii's functionality and came far too late in its lifespan to really make a mark, despite an incredibly ambitious $100 price that was designed to open up the console to an even broader demographic.

The Nintendo Switch Lite has sold over 160,000 units during its first week of sales in Japan.
Additionally, sales of the original Nintendo Switch were up to 64,000 compared to 52,000 the week prior.
The figures come from Media Create (via Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad), and were originally reported as 114,000.
However, these figures fall well below the 300,000 forecast by Citibank, and Nintendo stock has fallen to its lowest point in eight months, down 4.37%.

Nintendo Switch Lite has sold around 13,500 units during its first week on sale in the UK, retailers have told GamesIndustry.biz.
It's a relatively slow start for the new portable-only Switch, although the console is targeting a more casual user and was not expected to deliver huge week one numbers. By comparison, the 2DS -- a similar stripped back Nintendo handheld released in October 2013 -- sold 200,000 units in just under two months (IHS data), but its sales didn't pick up until the October half-term holiday.
Retailers speaking to GamesIndustry.biz said it was far too early to draw any conclusions. One senior buyer told us: "Switch Lite was always going to come into its own come Pokémon. It's ideal as a Christmas present, and we expect sales to ratchet up during November and December. Pre-orders for the special Pokémon Switch Lite have been strong."
Another retail executive added: "Launch week really isn't the point of Switch Lite."
