November is to witness the release of EA's next Harry Potter game, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which will materialise alongside, and tie in with, the new Potter movie based on J.K. Rowling's fourth book in the series.
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry find himself competing in the Triwizard Tournament against other students of the magic arts, gawping at the Quidditch World Cup and tangling once again with Lord Voldemort. Allowing you to relive many of the scenes from the movie, the game features Harry, Ron, and Hermione as playable characters and includes co-operative play for two.
EA promises "fresh innovations" in the Goblet of Fire game, one of which is a new spell-casting system where every flick of your magic wand apparently sets force-feedback a-rumbling; and the benefit of playing co-operatively is that you get to combine magic to unleash "more powerful spells than ever before!". Wizard!
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is weaving its magic on PS2, PSP, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, GBA and PC.

I've been testing IDEAS, and I have two problems.
1. Touchscreen never works
2. It says to load arm9.bin then arm7.bin then a demo. This doesn't do anything at all. Any "ideas"?

Just thought that I'd say Sprung is such a fun game!
It's only £20 but easily one of the best launch games for the UK.
Don't buy it if you expect action or guns etc.
This game is one that requires thinking more than anything. It is a really unique but great idea and I love it - in fact i can't stop playing it.
I know some people will put posts up and say that it is rubbish but i think that the game is a bit like marmite - you either love it or hate it!!

Tim Schuerewegen has successfully hacked the DS' wireless mutliboot features to allow him to load custom DS much like the PassMe method by using custom drivers for Windows and a PCI card.
His post on the gbadev.org forums pretty much sums it up:
Tim wrote:
6 months of work summarized in 2 minutes
http://users.belgacom.net/hyperds/wmb-mario.wmv[3.2MB]
He also released another video with a homebrew demo being loaded instead:
http://users.belgacom.net/hyperds/wm...2d-example.wmv[2.8MB]
Finally some very nice progress on the wireless homebrew front. With dsdev doing quite nicely, i hope that major tutorials will be released in the future, and this site to have links to those examples.
For now, enjoy yourselves and these videos. The future is not far away!!

Thought the DS Linkup Nintendo DS tunneling software sounded too good to be true? It was. The whole thing was a hoax, as evidenced by the latest “information” on the “official website.” We’re unsure what the purpose of all of that was other than to really annoy those of us who actually have things to do with our time. So it goes — looks like we’re still waiting for the actual (although still also technically vaporware) DS Online to kick off.

The Nintendo DS and GBA emulator for windows has once again been updated, heres the news from this release:
<BLOCKQUOTE>So it seems that the screen-flip implementation in .3b was immensely buggy; maybe the bottom screen moved to the top, but it happened all the time, and what should be on the bottom screen went missing. It turns out I was using a subtract instead of an XOR to flip. A small thing, makes quite a difference. Flip should work fine now.
Interface issues, and I mentioned that Normmatt had a config editor ready to go. Well, it was still in Visual Basic, and under the GPL, so I ended up only taking a general inspiration from its layout. The editor is available on the new Options menu; try it out.</BLOCKQUOTE>

Hugh Lowry has sent in a cool beatem-up called Triple Triad:
Hiya - just sending in my game that I made for my final year uni project.
First game I've ever made, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out .
Apologies if the difficulty is a bit misjudged - I've been playing it daily
since last September, so it might be a bit tricky for newcomers.
The game contains good sound effects and music, and is quite playable

Homebrew and Emulation on the Gamecube is now really taking off and it should really be an exciting time for the Gamecube Hacking Scene. Which is the best way for Gamecube owners to run homebrew code, is it by means of the PSO exploit or the SDload program or by installing one of the many modchips now available.
Have your say Here.

FeaRog's who has released his first Nintendo DS demo over at <a href="http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=5403" target="_blank" >the DS Dev Forums</a> called 3D Model Viewer.
<BLOCKQUOTE>I've been working like a madman since I got my PassMe (about 28 hours ago now), reasonably steep learning curve, but here's what I've come up with. I'll release the source once I've tidied it up a bit - its not terribly readable at the moment.
I think I'm running out of texture memory, you notice it on the later models. Theres a few bugs on the texturing of the 3rd model.
This sort of works on the IdeaS emulator, but not very well. It has z-buffer issues, texture changing doesn't work properly, and the SELECT button doesn't seem to work at all. For full effect, run it on real hardware with the PassMe
Controls:
Touchscreen/D-pad = rotate
A/B = zoom in/out
Select = change model
You can get it here:

PhoenixRising & Lynx have released a new homebrew demo for the Nintendo DS with sound, heres some info :
"Looks like we are having problems going above 600k.. And, you have to give it a few seconds to load the samples prior to pressing left or right... and for some reason, it doesn't stop playing the sample.. so songs run on, and if the sample rate changes.. well, you'll hear.
But now everything should be in stereo, though it's marked mono in the user interface."

It's been 1 year now, since I slowly started to lose interest in the project. Since the last update there has been no progress and a lot in my life has changed. Honestly, I stopped coding at all.
Ninphin was never planned to be dead before it's release.
But though, I will release parts of the source code once I get some time. But at least, I learned a lot while coding it and met cool people. I don't have anything more to say. Sorry for those who waited for nothing.

News from <a href="http://hackds.blogspot.com/" target="_blank" >Darkfader</a>
<BLOCKQUOTE>Since the correct initial values had been found for the cartridge encryption, I have not made much progress on it. But now the final phase of cartridge encryption has started.
I mean... need to finish this up because there's more to do. Decrypting the dumped firmware for example. Yeah, you can dump your own DS firmware! Since I was too lazy to write one, grab it here. The firmware is identified as upgradeable but nobody ever tried yet
I only dared to touch the settings and got a nice error message when CRC was incorrect
Anyway, I also cheated on Mario without using that Action Replay DUO. </BLOCKQUOTE>

The Nintendo DS and GBA emulator for windows has once again been updated, heres the news from the latest release:
<BLOCKQUOTE>I've implemented the screen-flip bit in POWERCNT, so anything that uses that feature should work correctly now. In particular, the ARM Wrestler will appear in its right place, on the top screen. Also, regarding the opening of ROMs, I've attempted a hack at type selection; anything with an NDS extension will load in DS mode, and anything else will open as a GBA rom. I know it's buggy and it will break, but it should help a little.
In other news, Normmatt seems to have finished his configuration editor dialog. I haven't been able to grab his code and take a look just yet, but I shall do so for a release in the near future. That should help matters regarding the config file.</BLOCKQUOTE>
