Main character Ashley uses clues given to her by her father and must make her way to mysterious Brad Edward Island. Another utilizes the DS's unique feature-set for an adventure game filled with puzzles. You move around on a 3D map, progressing through a story as you play. The puzzle-solving part is done on the touch screen, with the screen used to display your movements from an overhead perspective.[br][br]More information Here

Crikey, we are up to our necks in rumour this week. The next stragglers to drag itself ashore from the sea of speculation are reports that Nintendo is planning to stuff feature films onto DS game cards and roll out the much-anticipated DS online service in the near future.[br]According to reports on gaming blog Kotaku, Nintendo is working on compressing video files using Divx so that they can fit onto tiny DS game cards. This way you wouldn't need any additional add-on - like Nintendo's own Play-Yan device - to watch flicks on the dual-screened handheld. This would bring DS into line with the growing list of UMD movies soon to be available for Sony's PSP.[br][br][br][br]It's estimated that around two hours of video could be compressed onto the little cards, and Kotaku speculates that an animated feature will be the first title to get a DS movie release. [br]It's not unbelievable - Nintendo has been selling Pokemon episodes on GBA carts for a long while now (although not in Europe), and the Play-Yan clearly shows the company wants to compete with Sony's multimedia PSP.[br][br]Next up is more speculation about the DS's forthcoming online service, which should allow DS owners around the world to compete and chat with each other via wi-fi hotspots. We brought you the exclusive confirmation from Nintendo that such a service was in the pipelines last month, but Kotaku's addition to the rumour pit is that the service will allow users to download games wirelessly.[br][br]In fact, this is fairly old news. Way back in October when Nintendo was revealing the full potential of the DS downloadable games and game demos were discussed. That's not to mention the handheld's nifty Game Sharing feature, which lets multiple gamers play against each other from one copy of a game thanks to wireless downloading.[br][br]Our sources have told us that the DS online service is imminent, and that announcements could coincide with the European launch of the handheld on March 11. From what we've heard we fully expect it to match PSP's online gaming functionality - read about it here.[br][br]So what's the official word from Nintendo on these rumours? We bet you can guess... "Nintendo does not comment on interent rumour and speculation."[br][br]More DS news - and the rumours that buzz around it like moths to a lightbulb - very soon.

News From Lik Sang [br][br]Able/Milestone join the honourable ranks of vertical shooter developers like Psikyo, Alfa, Success and Treasure, proving dodging bullets is still the rage. Chaos Field, originally a Naomi arcade title, was released for the Sega Dreamcast last year, and has now made it's way to the GameCube, picking up a few bonuses along the way. This includes a new boss attack mode, plus new enemies.[br][br]Trailer (8.4mb - mpeg)The overall flow of Chaos Field was beautifully designed by its creators, it plays very smoothly with the various weapons available. Gameplay-wise, as smooth as it is, you are definitely in for an experience that will demand lightning-fast reflexes. Players are also rewarded when they take their fingers off the trigger for a second, letting you collect items leading up to special attacks. Other features include the ability to switch between two different modes, "Order" and "Chaos". The later makes your weapons more awe-demanding, but it's no easy life there, since this will also increase the power of enemy attacks significantly. Being invincible for an instant while going from one state to the other helps, but hey, we warned you - you're certainly in for a hardcore shooter ride!

News From Lik Sang [br][br]While Nintendo say "Touching is Good", MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" would be a better phrase for this NDS. Suntory Limited announced they will team up with Nintendo for a campaign promoting the new Pepsi Twist this March, but just for Japan. Those who purchase the drink can send in the sticker for a lucky draw, and the first 1000 winners will receive a limited Pepsi Blue edition of Nintendo DS, complete with matching carry case, and a Pepsi styled version of the popular Hori headphones we sell here. Along with those, there's other prizes up for grabs such as Super Mario Stage figures.[br][br]Here in Hong Kong we're under a heavy David Beckham campaign from the same cola distributor (the soccer player's face is on every can you see), and Lik Sang does not expect to have this baby blue system on-sale anytime. With just 1000 units for all of Japan, supply is extremely limited. Should we ever get our hands on one or a few of them however, we'll make sure to add them to one of the next updates on our Payback Points Prizes Selection. On a final note, this is the first non-platinum colored NDS to see the light of the day, which gives us hope more choices will appear down the line also...

We could easily pick up on some of the lesser publicised titles. Like Care Bears casting their pixellated magic on GBA SP. Or Ultimate Card Games being dealt out on the sparkling new DS.[br]But wouldn't that be a bit naïve, especially with all you ardent Nintendo-philes keen to get your fetid hands on the likes of Star Fox Assault, Killer 7 and WarioWare Twisted! as though they were a big, scaled-up pair of Jordan's knockers? Our point exactly.[br][br]The good news is that there appears to be a definite smidgen of happening across all the Nintendo formats in the months leading into Summer. The aforementioned and sweet-looking StarFox Assault finally crashlands onto GameCube on April 29, the sequel to super-addictive tub-thumper Donkey Konga arrives on June 3, and the stylus-enabled Yoshi Touch & Go is set to inject further quirkiness into the DS on May 6.[br][br]Other dates of note include Namco's Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean (GameCube) on April 1, Viewtiful Joe 2 (GameCube) on April 1, Need for Speed Underground 2 (DS) on April 29, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories (GBA SP) on May 6 and WarioWare Twisted! (GBA SP) on June 3.[br]However, also glowing out from the release schedule like a 3,000 Volt lightbulb set against a bottle of King Kong's zit concealer is the mooted June 27 date of Capcom's blood-tinged, cel-shader Killer 7. Only recently it was suggested the game had slipped all the way back to September, caused by a knock-on effect from delays in Japan. [br][br]Yet despite the rumours, Nintendo still has the game pencilled in for end-June. So just what is the truth? "To be honest, we couldn't say whether Killer 7 will release in June, July, August or September," a Capcom spokesman told us today. "There was talk of it releasing in September, but it's possible it may be knocked down. It should definitely release in the Summer though."[br][br]Hopefully, we will have some more official confirmation on this in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out the full Nintendo Q2 release schedule below:[br][br]GameCube:[br][br]Baten Kaitos - 1 April 2005 [br]Viewtiful Joe 2 (Capcom) - 1 April 2005[br]Star Fox Assault - 29 April 2005[br]Donkey Konga 2: Hit Song Parade (temporary title) - 3 June 2005[br]Batman Begins (EA) - June 2005[br]Madagascar (Activision) - June 2005[br]Killer 7 (Capcom) - 27 June 2005[br]Medal of Honor 4 (EA) - Q2 2005[br][br]GBA SP: [br][br]Yoshi's Universal Gravitation (Nintendo) - 22 April 2005[br]KINGDOM OF HEARTS CHAIN OF MEMORIES (Square/Enix) - 6 May 2005[br]Herby Fully Loaded (Disney / Buena Vista Games) - May 2005 [br]Care Bears (Game Factory/K.E. Sad but true. Monk no longer has the means to continue developing this great emulator so the project is over. He did however release the Gcube source with the latest changes that were made for anyone that can find it usefull or for even those that wish to continue Gcube, but in either case please give Monk the credit he deservs.

Nintendo has let a few slip new details on its jaw-dropping new Zelda title for GameCube, as well as speaking about the importance of the massive series in the design and development of Nintendo DS.[br]Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma, who says he's "two-hundred percent involved" in the development of the new Legend of Zelda on GameCube, has reportedly recently been interviewed by French publication Liberation. Although reluctant to talk about the title at any length Aonuma did have a couple of interesting nuggets to divulge.[br][br]"The next episode in the Zelda series for GameCube is already coming, but I can't say absolutely anything about it," Aonuma is said to have explained, before actually going on to reveal that the game "follows chronologically after the Wind Waker" and is currently pencilled in for a 2005-end release in Japan.[br][br]Not earth-shattering info perhaps, but certainly interesting. The new GameCube Zelda game's visual style was also touched on: "I can reveal one lone secret: it'll be very, very beautiful," Aonuma told Liberation. Having been bowled over by the screenshots released so far, we'd have to agree.[br]Aonuma then went on to talk about the influence of the Zelda series on the development of Nintendo DS, possibly dropping hints about what we can expect to see in the inevitable DS Zelda title.[br][br]"In fact, know that our ideas for Four Swords have greatly contributed to the concept behind the DS," he said, adding that: "The gameplay ideas we came up with for Four Swords [on GBA] provided examples on what kind of games would be possible on the Nintendo DS and what kind of advantages the double-screen would enable. [br][br]"It was all theoretical, but today we realize it's a pity - a real shame - that we haven't created a demonstration of a real, great Zelda game for DS." [br][br]Perhaps we'll see that demonstration as this year's E3.

The emulator for the GBA and Nintendo DS has been updated to a new release (and clean too, if you downloaded a previous version, you will have to do a virus check as the author got infected), heres whats in this new release:[br][br] If I'm ever going to take advantage of the 3D hardware present in most computers that'll be running DSemu, it's probably wise to use some 3D-accelerated driver like DirectX or OpenGL to harness the hardware. Hence, as of today, both the GBA and DS cores draw onto a textured quad that is rendered by OpenGL. In the far future, the DS core will probably be drawing objects over the top of this '2D display' quad.[br][br]There are two nice side benefits to the OpenGL switch. Firstly, since the hardware is handling the scaling of the quad, you can now resize the DSemu window at will, and the display will stretch to match. Second, I actually got a good 10% speedup in frame rate by moving from GDI to OpenGL. See how it goes for you.[br][br]In other news, yet more core bugs that mic's ARMwrestler has been able to track down. Today, there was a nice little one in LDR-asr-by-32, where the wrong address would end up being read from. All patched up now, which means a clean sweep for the ARM core. (Thumb is still a different matter.)[br][br]Lots of news today. [br][br]Download the new clean version Here.[br][br]Download some Nintendo DS Roms (Freeware game and 4 Demos) Here

Great news for Gamecube owners from Lik Sang [br][br] Since Team Star Fox first followed the beckoning stars into space opera action on the SNES in the nineties (with the FX chip built-in the cart!), the series has seen many a console's incarnation. For fans, it took perhaps too long after the latest installment, Star Fox Adventures from Rare (now a Microsoft subsidiary), until Namco finally let their take on the popular Nintendo franchise loose. Our stock of Star Fox Assault has been received in Hong Kong from the USA a couple of days ago and preorders have been all cleared by now. We tested this US version for Freeloader compatibility and you'll be happy to hear that it works fine on both Japanese and PAL consoles as well. Preordering folk, rejoice - your copy of Star Fox Assault is on its way to you already. New orders are welcome for only US$ 59.90, all Free Shipping Worldwide of course! The US version is definitely the game of choice right now, since the Japanese one is still some way off release-wise and (for those language conscious ones) perhaps won't prove that import friendly after all.[br][br]Movies etc [br][br]Who has time to enjoy the views when engaged in fierce space combat? Believe us, if you find a moment to take your breath, you'll gape in astonishment at the visuals, before the driving orchestral soundtrack worthy of a sci-fi stint like this will push you further. Ready to open fire yet? Since moving pictures tell more than a nuked blackhole chock-full with screenshots, we serve you eight cool movies and TVCMs below, that let you worship the superb glory of Star Fox Assault in action, before your copy will arrive at your door:[br][br]• Star Fox Assault Intro 1[br]• Star Fox Assault Intro 2[br]• Star Fox Assault Air Footage[br]• Star Fox Assault Ground Footage[br]• Star Fox Assault US TVCM[br]• Star Fox Assault JAP TVCM[br]• Star Fox Assault E3 2004 Trailer[br]• Star Fox Assault E3 2003 Trailer[br][br]Storyline and features[br][br]Fox McCloud, along with his loyal sidekicks, defends the Cornerian fleet once more against the evil Andross' forces, now led by his nephew Oikonny. Read on to find out what's great about this highly anticipated Action-Adventure, plus view a myriad of movies to get a glimpse of an universe struggling with combat, crying out to be saved by a hero like you.[br][br]The near-disaster episode on Dinosaur Planet behind them, classic Star Fox team members Fox McCloud, Slippy Toad, Peppy Hare, Falco Lombardi and General Pepper join forces with some fresh faces to fight a newly emerged threat to the solar system. Lylat Central Command sents the just formed Star Fox Armada in to deal with this enemy, which turns out to be almost more of a menace than they are able to handle.[br][br]New character Rob, an analysis droid, updates you on your mission status during the game, while we see a return of Krystal (from Star Fox Adventures) who takes Peppy's place in the cockpit, the fighter pilot bunny himself acting as an advisor this time around. The game in essence blends traditional on-rail aerial shooter design with third-person perspective, on-foot missions. As expected, players will rely heavily on the trusty Arwing Strikefighter. Planetside though, you will thank the scorched earth for the existence of the Landmaster Tank, as well as a weapon arsenal that delivers good old-fashioned, relentless "if-it-moves-hit-the-trigger" gameplay.[br][br]Available modes include Mission, Survival and Versus. Mission mode will find you entering a story-based experience, where throwing laser and missile salves at targets is on top of your intergalactic To-Do list. Tear trough hostile skies (not to forget space stations and planets) and do your best as the team leader to complete objective-based tasks. Unlocking Survival mode requires you to finish Mission first. The name says it all: survive all of the stages in mission mode without saving your game, a real challenge cut out for those who like a tough ride and are capable of staying in the zone until the rewarding end. [br][br]At the start of each stage, you will see which vehicles will be available to you. If you begin on foot, the Landmaster and Arwing will sometimes be near you, allowing you to use them at will and change between them as needed. Fox's Arwing maneuvers still perfectly and barrel rolls are easily performed using the L button. Need to speed up? Hit the Y button and engage the turbo, while pressing X will cause you to slow down.[br][br]When pounding the pavement, controls are pretty straightforward as well, with the A button firing your gun and the B button responsible for jumping. Holding down the R button lets you aim in any direction, handy for shooting down any flying enemies. Certain foes which you defeat will drop their weapons along the way. Pick these up to use them yourself and switch from one to another with the C stick.[br][br]In the upper right corner of the screen sits a special gauge which tells you the strength of airborne enemy forces. It's time to focus on helping out your fellow pilots whenever this meter fills up. In addition, you'll be kept up-to-date via audible clues on the level of danger present skywise and on ground.[br][br]Assisting your comrades when flying follows a more obvious structure compared to times when you're out of your beloved Arwing fighter. Bad guys use the surroundings for cover, thus getting a clear shot in needs quite some skill. If you actually fail and loose one of your teammates, you won't be awarded a special "Ally Medal" at the end of that particular stage, but this won't affect the mission or make level progression any harder.[br][br]Dodging asteroids and annihilating swarms of enemy fighters feels satisfying as ever, which has become a trademark for the Star Fox line of games. It's brilliantly executed in a true NextGen format now. Boss encounters mean old school favorites and new additions, most of the times calling on you to target specific spots on the opponent's body. All bosses go through several forms, each phase harder than the one before it, but thankfully delivering something original and different regarding gameplay every time.[br][br]If your friends want to join the action, they certainly can: Namco has included two multiplayer modes, versus deathmatch and team deathmatch. You are free to allow only certain weapons and customize which vehicles will be available for a given match. Up to four players choose between several arenas and stages unlocked from the main story mode. Run around on foot or use the Arwing and Landmaster, at your disposal depending on the battleground you're in. [br][br]Lik Sang

News From Lik Sang [br][br] If you've been browsing our extensive catalog of games humming "Ain't no mountain high enough...", looking for a fun and far-out challenge that works perfectly on the go, your search ends here: bursting with more than 180 all-new, factory-fresh microgames is NDS WarioWare: Touched, which we received today. All preorders are getting shipped and new orders are of course welcome for only US$ 49.90, this title being eligible for our Free Shipping Worldwide promotion.[br][br]Wario and his outlandish mini-game frenzy appeared on other platforms before, but the Nintendo DS version of the series proves that there's indeed something unique and innovative to touch and dual-screen gaming. A truly evolved GameBoy device, the NDS lets you experience the craziness of WarioWare with a twist, using the touch screen brilliantly and even utilises the system's built-in microphone! Wield the stylus with skill to slice fruit as they fly across the screen, trap a duck as it walks under a cage, pluck a large facial hair by its root, spin a toilet paper roll until there's no more, hit one in a row of cats as it leaps out, and much more. [br][br]It's as bizarre as it gets: complete hilarious tasks that take no more than five seconds to accomplish and the more you master successfully, the faster the game gets. Players are required to draw, tap, drag and spin on the touch screen or blow the micro to score as high a number of challenges as possible, before losing all their four "lives". Just imagine the joy of maneuvering a peeing statue to extinguish fire (beware, it even gets weirder as you progress)! [br][br]While the US version is essentially the same as the Japanese copy and most its games still remain in the North American release, one level in Japanese WarioWare throws a task based on the classic Famicom Detective series at players while Nintendo of America replaced that stage with one about Metroid. Not to mention the relief of full English text this time. [br][br]Graphically you are in for as much sprite-madness as one can handle, plus lots of 3D-effects for good measure. Given the myriad of unlockables, the "just-one-more-go" addictive appeal of the fast-paced, outrageously weird action and the well executed gameplay across two screens adding stylus/microphone joy, this is definitely one of the top titles in the Nintendo DS library. We'd go as far as saying that it's one must-have game if you own Ninty's latest mobile gadget. Now go ahead, touch it already![br]

DSEmu is now the first albeit very very early Nintendo DS emulator to be released, heres the news from the author:[br][br] I now have seperate DS mmu and gpu source files. The DS mmu copies the ROM over to 02004000 as the hardware seems to, and the gpu does nothing different (not even the resolutions) yet. Even so, I now have gba.dll AND ds.dll, and that is good news.[br][br]Good enough to warrant a versioning up, I think. I've hit beta E, so y'all can celebrate this fact by downloading it and trying it out. If you want to load a DS rom, the only way to change DLLs right now is to modify LoadDS in the INI file. You can probably work out what values the variable can take.[br][br]And before I get all sorts of complaints, I know it'll crash. I've just put the compilation framework down, that's all. 2 big Nintendo DS News items from Joat [br][br] ndslib is now up on SourceForge. It is only available as a CVS repository for the time being, a zip will be provided after the library stabilizes somewhat. To install, check out the project, make in the main directory, and follow the README in the startup directory. You'll need a recent version of DevkitARM and MSys (or any other packages that provides an arm-elf targetted GCC and common unix tools such as sh, gnu make, etc...) to build it. [br]Note: ndslib is very much in flux, use it at your own risk. Register names and general layout can and will change! [br][br]and this[br][br] Here is a DS project template. It demonstrates how to set up the ARM7 as a relay of information to the ARM9, and sets the background colors of the screens based on touch screen presses. To build: [br][br]Get DevkitARM and MSys [br]Check ndslib out of CVS [br]Unzip the template to a project directory [br]Open CommonMakefile.in and set the path of ndslib and DevkitARM (if not in your system path) [br]Make in the project directory [br]A MSVC.net project file has been provided, but is completly optional. The Makefile system automatically grabs source files in the directories, and bin2o's resources in the resource subdirectories.

DWEdit has released v7 of his PocketNes for the GBA Movie Player, heres whats in this release:[br][br] Fixed 256k PRG games. [br]Stupid bug caused by word alignment issues. Stupid Pocketnes menu maker padded the roms to make them word aligned, so I never noticed the bug during testing. The movie player doesn't pad them. Previously, the only 256k prg games that worked were games whose compressed size was a multiple of 4. (Micro machines, ultimate stuntman..) [br][br]256k Rare Games (mapper 7) don't work. Those games use 32k bankswitching, and I doubt there's a way to get those games to work at a decent speed. Need at least 64k of free ram, since those games constantly switch to page 0 to play music. So no battletoads or ironsword for now. [br][br]I tried to increase the number of free swap pages available (by deleting the last page after decompressing it, since the last page is always there), so Treasure Island Dizzy is now playable, while Linus Spacehead isn't. The bigger the game when compressed, the less free swap pages available. Maniac mansion thrashes like a win98 machine. [br][br]You probably have no idea how much speedup Megaman 2 has gotten since the first release... (mainly because it didn't load ^_^) [br][br]Download Here

A company named Turboxs has created an interface for the Gameboy Advance that plugs into your car. It appears to allow for tuning as well as data logging. The Turboxs Dtec lets you use your Gameboy as a Boost Gauge, Exhaust Gas Temperature Gauge, Air Temperature Gauge and Tachometer. Future plug-n-play sensors will allow everything from Knock Indication to Vehicle Acceleration. Previously this was only available via a laptop or pda, but bringing this to the gameboy may open up performance tuning to the masses without the expensive peripheral hardware[br][br]http://www.turboxs.com/Dtec/dtec.shtml
