Japanese 3DS sales hit 384,000 units in August, 2.6 times the system's July total.
That's according to figures from Enterbrain (via Andriasang), which pegs August as the second-best month on record for 3DS, the console having sold 430,000 units in March following its late-February launch.
The portable has topped Japan's weekly hardware sales chart since its price was reduced from 25,000 to 15,000 on August 11.
Nintendo is to hold a "3DS new product announcement conference" on September 13 ahead of the Tokyo Game Show.

[h=2]Online RPG, announced for Wii in 2008, now also headed to its successor with cross-platform play.[/h]
Dragon Quest X will be released for Nintendo's Wii U, Square Enix has confirmed.
The publisher revealed the news at a press conference in Tokyo earlier today, confirming that the next iteration of the enormously popular RPG will be headed not only to Nintendo's ageing Wii as previously announced but its successor as well.
Officially titled Dragon Quest X Mezameshi Itsutsu No Shuzoku, DQX will be an online RPG, and support cross-platform play between Wii and Wii U. Some level of 3DS connectivity is planned, though designer Yuji Hori gave few details, saying the team was thinking about a way for players to transfer their character to 3DS and share and receive data over SpotPass.
In a first for the series, it is being developed internally at Square Enix, with Hori, composer Koichi Sugiyama, and character designer Akira Toriyama all on board.
Dragon Quest X was first announced and confirmed for Wii almost three years ago, before Dragon Quest IX had even been released. The first suggestion that it could be headed for Nintendo's Wii successor came in June, when nervous Square Enix investorsraised concerns at the prospect of a game in one of Japan's most popular franchises of all time being released solely for the ageing Wii.
Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada said the team was carrying out "technical investigations" into how to make a Wii U release possible, and with those investigations complete Nintendo's upcoming console has just been given a major boost, at least in Japan. Not only is the appearance of the next game in a series which has shipped 57 million units worldwide since 1986 sure to drive early sales of the console, but it is a ringing endorsement of Nintendo's new hardware by a major thirdparty.
No specific release date was announced - no surprise, given that Nintendo is yet to confirm its Wii U launch plans - but Dragon Quest X is due in 2012, with Square Enix planning a beta test in the near future.

Deadly Cobra Wii v1.0 by Oibaf
Deadly Cobra is an SDL-based game similar in gameplay to the classic Nibbles or snake game. Basically the point of the game is to eat as many pebbles (in our case "Men") as possible without eating yourself or hitting a wall.
Features include both single and multiplayer modes, cool 2-D graphics and energizing music for each level.
Player 1 uses WPAD 1 or arrows keys, Player 2 uses WAPD 2 or WASD keys.
The original game was written by Jeaf Rousseau and Tom Lacaillade and ported to Wii by Oibaf.
The original project is hosted on http://deadlycobra.sourceforge.net/

Following confirmation of a pre-TGS 3DS show last week, Nintendo has dated the event and confirmed that it will be streamed online.
The Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011 will be held at Tokyo Big Site on September 13 at 12:00 noon (Japanese Standard Time) and be streamed via live broadcast on Nico Nico and Ustream.
The event is described as a "Nintendo 3DS new product announcement conference," which probably refers to new game reveals for the handheld but may also boost the creditability of a recent report claiming Nintendo's set to launch redesigned 3DS hardware, complete with a second analogue stick and "radically toned down" 3D visuals.

There's something for everyone to download from the 3DS eShop today, especially if you're one of those fabled 3DS Ambassadors.

They are: Metroid, Open Tournament Golf, Wrecking Crew, Yoshi, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda. They're a little tucked away though - here's a guide on how to find and download them.
If you're not an Ambassador, then you should think about grabbing Pac Man. It's the Game Boy version, which is a small shame, but it's still a classic.
Here's the full list:

The first stage of the 3DS Ambassador Programme, Nintendo's compensation to early adopters stung by the system's global price drop, is now live worldwide.
Users who bought their system and connected to the eShop download service before the price drop came into effect on August 12 are now able to download ten NES games for free. The titles in question are Super Mario Bros, Metroid, The Legend Of Zelda, Wrecking Crew, NES Open Tournament Golf, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link, andMario & Yoshi.
Of course, this being Nintendo, downloading the games is a far from straightforward process. First, head to the Settings/Other section, which is all the way to the left in the eShop's main menu. From there, select Titles You've Downloaded, and scroll down past all your previous downloads where the games are listed individually.
Games have to be downloaded one by one, and after they are completed you're dropped back to the main eShop page, requiring that you start the whole process again to get the next game on the list. When all titles are downloaded, they each need to be "unwrapped" on the home screen before they are playable.
All games have an instruction manual accessible from the Home menu, but no support for save states. Nintendo has already confirmed that all ten games will eventually be released on the eShop in updated form, with save state support, and 3DS Ambassadors will be able to downloaded the upgraded versions for free.
This is just the beginning of the Ambassador Programme - early adopters will also be given ten free Game Boy Advance games, including Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc: Minigame Mania andMario Vs Donkey Kong.
The remaining games are yet to be officially confirmed butreportedly include Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and Super Mario Bros 3: Super Mario Advance 4. Nintendo is yet to confirm when it will make the remaining games available, only saying: "Delivery is scheduled to begin within the year."
Nintendo announced the Ambassador Programme on July 28, at the same time as it revealed plans to reduce the price of the 3DS in Japan by 40 per cent, and in Europe and North America by a third, after just 710,000 systems were sold worldwide in three months.
Company president Satoru Iwata would later write to early adopters, saying: "We are all too keenly aware that those of you who supported us by purchasing the 3DS in the beginning may feel betrayed and criticise this decision. We feel a strong responsibility to develop the 3DS as a platform - to ensure that, in the end, everyone is satisfied - and we will make every effort to do so."

Given that Nintendo's share price rose by more than 8 per cent on the back of rumours that it was to host a 3DS trade show a few days before the Tokyo Game Show, it makes sense that the company is to stream the since-confirmed event live on the internet to ensure details spread as quickly as possible. Several new announcements are expected, as Nintendo seeks to capitalise on the momentum it has gathered since the global 3DS price drop came into effect last month. The event, dubbed the Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011, is scheduled for 12pm local time on September 13, and will be streamed through Ustream and Nico Nico video.

Supernice.co.uk has revealed a fantastic way to transform any child’s (or, to be fair, adult’s) room into a level right out of Super Mario Bros.
The retailer is currently offering a range of officially licensed reusable wall stickers based on three Nintendo titles – Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong.
The product is made with Blik Re-Stik tech, meaning the decals can be moved and re-arranged at any time.
The sets cost £60 each and can be purchased here.

The Ambassador Programme, Nintendo's make-good plan for early adopters following the global 3DS price drop, isn't supposed to launch until tomorrow, but Destructoid reports that the ten free NES games on offer are available now. They're not on the eShop itself just yet, but eligible users should head to the Your Downloads section of the eShop's Settings screen where all ten games are waiting to be downloaded
