Monk has released a new Gamecube emulator for windows and linux, heres info from the read me file:
This is the first release of gcube - an open source gamecube emulator. I'm writing it only for educational purposes. My aim is to make at least one commercial game fully emulated (that means with sound and original speed). This release is aimed at homebrewn programs. There is no gui and no gcm support (so no comercial games are running).
Main target platform is Linux / x86. Windows is not fully supported at this point (emulator seems to work, debugger doesn't). I would also like to support Mac (at least with interpreter), but I don't have access to one, so it will have to wait.

News From http://pdcovers.netfirms.com/ (gamecube emulation)
According to an article in the latest print issue of popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Nintendo executive Satoru Iwata has dropped word that the forthcoming successor to the Nintendo GameCube, aptly named GameCube 2 at this point, could very well be backwards compatible, allowing gamers to play their current GameCube titles on the new console.
This wouldn't be the first time that a game system has been backwards compatible with software from the past, as the PlayStation 2 allows gamers to play original PlayStation games. However, such a move would be good news for Nintendo fans, allowing gamers to play such classics as Super Smash Bros. Melee and Metroid Prime 2 on the system with ease.
Of course, this can only be rumor at this point, as there hasn't even been word or technical specs revealed on the new console yet. Hopefully, E3 will loosen Nintendo's lips on "GameCube 2."

At Circuit City for those in the USA. I bought Prime when it first came out, so I just picked up F-Zero today This is great for gamers who might not own a 'Cube yet but who wants to play these awesome games.
Most Gamecube games are a bit cheap, btw. Maybe Nintendo is going to pull the plug...

Nintendo of America has announced that the company is throwing its weight behind Majesco's GBA Video playback technology in the most tangible way possible - by releasing episodes of the Pokemon TV series for the system.
The GBA Video technology compresses videos into a format which can be played back on the Game Boy Advance, and the product is already backed by the Cartoon Network, which will be publishing episodes of some of its most popular shows in the GBA friendly format.
Nintendo will be publishing episodes of the Pokemon TV series on GBA Video from June 21st, with the first two releases set to hold two episodes apiece and retailing at $19.99 - significantly cheaper than the normal cost of GBA games, and comparable with the price of DVDs.
Other shows which will be appearing on the format include Spongebob Squarepants, Sonic X and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with the first releases set to arrive later this spring.
"Even by the remarkable standards of product evolution that have characterized the Game Boy franchise, this is a landmark event," enthused Nintendo of America exec George Harrison. "Pokemon is part of the first step in revolutionizing the nature of portable video entertainment, with eventual reach targeting all demographics."
His comments are bound to reopen speculation regarding the possible video playback functionality of the Nintendo DS console. Earlier this year, CNN/Money reported in its Game Over column that the forthcoming handheld would feature video playback features - a claim which seems even more likely now that Nintendo itself has backed video playback on the GBA. The company has previously expressed an interest in distributing non-game media on the GBA, with a pilot scheme for a similar technology already in existence in Japan.

Nintendo has today announced that it will release a limited-edition "Tribal" Game Boy Advance SP console in Europe on June 18. The console will be available for a limited time only and is expected to retail for the same price as other GBA SP models.
"We feel we have created a product in the Tribal edition that reflects the sentiments of today's youth--rebellion, attractiveness, and spirituality," said Tim Freystedt, European marketing manager for Game Boy Advance at Nintendo. "The new console allows gamers to express these emotions in a fun and interactive way, enabling them to communicate their individuality."
"The tattoo pattern on the console looks pretty cool," added Mister Cartoon, tattoo artist for celebrities such as 50 Cent, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, and Beyonce. "Tattoos are huge at the moment--everyone wants one. I think the console is great and will be a huge success with the more individual gamer."
No North American release for the "Tribal" GBA SP has been confirmed at this time, but we'll bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.

A report indicates that Nintendo will unveil a new peripheral for the company's GameCube at the upcoming E3 in LA. The report, which cites the Kyoto Shimbun ( a newspaper based in Kyoto) as its source, claims that they have received official confirmation from Nintendo's Japanese public relations office regarding "the appearance of new hardware at the trade show which will add new functionality to the Cube."
At this point the device is rumored to be something along the lines of Sony's EyeToy, but speculation as to exactly what the peripheral will be is sure to persist in the coming weeks leading up to the Expo.
This May's E3 is shaping up to be an interesting, and potentially vital event for the three major console manufactures as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are expected to reveal their plans for the next generation of gaming. With new hardware and even groundbreaking handheld devices on display, we should get a good idea as to what the future gaming landscape will look like in just a few short weeks.

The latest annual league tables for software publishers in Japan show that Nintendo built a comfortable lead on its competition during the past year, despite the fact that sales of Pokemon titles are not included in its figures.
Nintendo sold some 6.5 million units of software during the year to March 31st, according to Japanese magazine publisher and market research firm Enterbrain, which is the company behind the highly respected Famitsu magazine.
Square Enix came in second place in the league table, with almost four million units sold, while sometime challenger for the top spot Konami slipped to sixth place from last year's number four in the ranking.
Nintendo's figures are all the more impressive when you consider that they do not include sales of Pokemon related goods such as the multi-million selling Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green pair, whose combined sales made them into Japan's best selling game of the year.
Sales of Pokemon titles are now registered under a separately floated company, the Pokemon Company, in which Nintendo retains a 30 per cent stake. If the sales of both firms are combined, Nintendo outsold its nearest competitor by a factor of over two to one last year.

The DS handheld will not be the only new hardware on show at Nintendo's E3 conference, according to a Japanese newspaper which this week reported that the company has a new Cube peripheral to unveil.
Kyoto Shimbun - a newspaper based, as the name suggests, in Nintendo's home city of Kyoto - cites official confirmation from the platform holder's Japanese public relations office regarding the appearance of new hardware at the trade show which will add new functionality to the Cube.
The company likened the new peripheral to Sony's EyeToy device - a product which Nintendo executives seem to view as an embarrassing coup for Sony, and a threatening move into a product sector which has traditionally been Nintendo's own.
Speculation over the nature of the peripheral is likely to be rife in the run up to next month's show, as is the already simmering speculation that Nintendo may use this year's show as a platform to launch its online gaming ambitions for the Cube - despite the fact that the company's official line on online console gaming remains an incredibly cautious one.
The suggestion that Nintendo would launch new Cube peripherals in the near future first emerged earlier this year when the company reaffirmed its commitment to the GameCube as a platform for new hardware and software products. However, that announcement was overshadowed by the flood of coverage which misinterpreted the comments from company president Satoru Iwata as implying that the company was bowing out of the next generation console race in favour of sticking with the Cube in the long term.

Enterbrain Inc may not be the most well known source for industry info, but President Hirokazu Hamamura of the Japanese magazine publisher has announced that Nintendo will unveil a whopping thirty titles for its portable DS console at this year's E3.
Referring to the DS, Hamamura is quoted as saying: "This will be a product unlike anything available right now." The publishing magnate also confirmed that the DS "will come with a touch panel."
Enterbrain had more positive news regarding Nintendo, which was the number one games publisher in Japan for the business year ending March 31.
Meanwhile, more as yet unsubstantiated rumours suggest Nintendo is set to showcase a mysterious new peripheral for the GameCube at E3. A spokesperson at Nintendo of Europe refused to comment.

Wow stunning news that OpenBSD has been ported over to the Gameboy Advance/GBA SP. Heres a description of OpenBSD:
The OpenBSD project produces a freely available, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system. Our goals place emphasis on correctness, security, standardization, and portability. OpenBSD supports binary emulation of most binaries from SVR4 (Solaris), FreeBSD, Linux, BSDI, SunOS, and HPUX.
This FAQ specifically covers only the most recent release of OpenBSD, version 3.4.

Those of you who have downloaded the many emulators for the Gameboy Advance must have an opinion of which emu is best, which needs work in a certain area, and so on and so forth.
This time last year i never thought i would see a Snes Emu for the GBA, it was laughed at in many forums yet the amazing coder called Loopy has made it possible and whatever games he gets it to run is a major achievement, for me the Nes emu called PocketNes is fantastic and also the Gameboy Emu GoomBA is also excellent, tell us your opinions in this forum topic.

Out of all the games released for the Gamecube so far, which one is the one that has gave you most value for money, the best challenge and is the best game you have ever played on the cool console.
Well from the days of the Super Nintendo, i have been hooked on the Mario Kart franchise and the Gamecube Version is probably one of the greatest games ive ever played on a console, other than that i have the Zelda collection which im looking forward to spending a few hours on.
What in your opinion is the Best Commercial Gamecube Game?

Out of all the games released for the GameBoy Advance so far, which one is the one that has gave you most value for money, the best challenge and is the best game you have ever played on the little handheld.
Ill start by saying that Mario Kart is probably the greatest game ive ever played on the litle handheld, apart from the small screen its perfect, other than that i reckon a homebrew game called Bust A Move takes the slack up as it is the most addictive game i have ever played.
What in your opinion is the Best Commercial GBA Game?

Nintendo today held a touch-and-feel event for its forthcoming DS handheld in Tokyo. One of the interesting tidbits revealed by president Satoru Iwata is that not only will it be possible for multiple users to play together wirelessly, you’ll also only need one copy of the game—whichever machine has it installed will act as a server and beam it to the other players. Also, in addition to distributing extra content wirelessly at cinemas showing the next Pokemon movie, they’re planning to have game retailers beam out demos from their stores in the same way. They were also showing off several playable games (which should cost the equivalent of $35-$45 in Japan), leaving an impression of confidence that’s in contrast to the uncertainty surrounding Sony’s PSP.

Nintendo has announced today that its Nintendo DS system unveiled at E3 this year under the "Nintendo DS" working title is to be officially named... Nintendo DS. News on the christening comes as the company gears up to launch the handheld later in the year in the US and Japan, with Europe still having to wait till early 2005 for its arrival.[br]Announcing the official product name for the DS, Nintendo has also revealed that the system has undergone a slight redesign to "sport a slimmer, shaper look" (check the screenshots on this page), and it's a sexy little number to be sure. Going into the nitty gritty, it features a thinner, black base and an angular platinum flip-top cover, face buttons and shoulder buttons have been enlarged and "some have been reconfigured for optimum use," says Nintendo.[br][br]DS redesigned also includes a new storage slot for the touch screen's stylus and the speakers now broadcast in stereo sound, "with or without headphones".[br][br]Spouting numbers, Nintendo says that over 120 games are currently in development for the dual-screen system, 20-plus of which are Nintendo-developed first-party affairs. Over 100 companies have jumped onto the DS wagon to create titles for the handheld.[br][br]Launch date, pricing and launch game line-up announcements for Nintendo DS are expected at a later date.[br][br]Check out the great new screenshots at this Nintendo DS Screenshots Page
