Component cables for Nintendo Co.'s Wii video game system are now backordered at the company’s official online store until Dec. 18.
The ShopNintendo store disclaims to customers that due to high demand, initial allotment of the Wii Component Video Cables has been depleted.
The $30 cables are said to be available at select retailers, including Best Buy, Circuit City, and GameStop in mid-Dec.
Component cables will allow Wii owners to view games in 480p resolution, a sharper resolution that offers better picture clarity of standard and high-definition TV sets.
Third-party component cables were listed at brick and mortar retail stores but were not received by launch on Nov. 19.
Ebay prices have soared for the sought after product, with auctions fetching as much as $200 a piece.
Nintendo expects to ship 4 million Wii units worldwide by year-end.
