Ubisoft has unveiled its Academy of Champions, a family-orientated football game featuring footie legend Pelé, set for release on Wii and DS later this year.
Developed by Ubisoft Vancouver, Academy of Champions supports both Motion Plus and the Balance Board on Wii and promises a story-driven adventure featuring "over-the-top gameplay, fantastical environments and innovative challenges". Players enroll in the Academy of Champions and, coached by Pelé, attempt to improve their skills, recruiting new team members to build the perfect squad and snatch the champion cup away from the rival academy.
Speaking about the game, Pelé noted, "Football is a sport that is universally celebrated by all citizens of the world. Working with Ubisoft to continue to promote the sport has been a wonderful experience. It is a thrill to continue to inspire a new generation of fans through an entertainment medium that introduces them to the exciting world of football."
