The GameCube version of Super Paper Mario will never see the light of day, as Nintendo officially confirms to CVG that Mario's retro-style platformer is Wii exclusive.
The platform shift has been public knowledge for a while, but with an official announcement yet to made by Nintendo, many pondered the possibility it might make it to both platforms, like Twilight Princess. Alas, that is not the case.
On the plus side, Super Paper Mario on Wii could be in stores as soon as April according to US official Nintendo magazine, Nintendo Power.
New control details were also revealed, uncovering that the Wii Remote is held sideways to play the old-school platformer, with jump on the 2 button. The A button switches the perspective of the gameplay from a side-on 2D view to 3D, and you can earn extra points by shaking the Remote when jumping on enemies.
If SPM is to hit stores in April, we should be getting our hands on a preview version soon, so keep an eye out.
