Nintendo has revealed some impressive sales numbers for Pokemon X & Y’s opening weekend.
The games – the first entries in the Pokemon series on 3DS – sold 4m units between them on Saturday October 12thand Sunday October 13th. And Friday October 11th in the UK.
The impressive number is a new record for the series, although of course that is largely to do with the fact that it’s the first time a new Pokemon entry has released simultaneously worldwide.
The pair also became the fastest selling 3DS games of all time.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said: “The early response to Pokemon X and Pokemon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokemon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself.”
