Previous versions of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon allowed players to face-off online, but the Wii version doesn't. Why? Midway points the finger at Nintendo.
"Obviously we had online on other platforms so it wasn't going to be a technology challenge for us," said the game's producer, Shaun Himmerick, to advancedmn.com. "Nintendo didn't have their online system ready for us when we would have needed to implement it," he continued.
Nintendo must have been hogging the online tools for themselves then, because Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is set to release in June, after Nintendo's own Mario Strikers Charged - the first online Wii game in Europe - which goes on sale later this month.
To prevent Wii owners from feeling completely shafted, however, Himmerick goes on to reason: "That is a big reason we focused on giving the single player experience even more attention to perfect the new controls system, the addition of Endurance mode and an additional Kharacter."
