Not sure if this update is coming out for North American Wiis now, but overnight the Wii’s Shopping Channel got a minor update. The interface has been updated so Wii Points are now referred to as Nintendo Points, but as we mentioned before Nintendo’s currency is tied to a console. The DSi comes out next week and you’ll be able to use Nintendo Points to purchase software, unannounced launch software, when the system arrives in Japan.
The other change is a button to check out which controllers/peripherals are required to play a game. If you’re in Japan, here are the ways you can get Nintendo Points.
