Article from Lik Sang:
Coming from Nintendo's HAL Laboratories of Kirby fame, despite only having two entries over 10 years ago, the Mother series of role playing games gained a cult following. The first title came out on the NES in 1989, followed by a sequel for the SNES in '94, both of which were well loved for their sense of humor, wacky take on the Western world and quirky cartoon styled characters. The third game however was originally to be released on the N64DD, then the regular N64 after that hardware add-on was cancelled. Several delays later though and the game was scrapped completely, but three years ago now a new Mother 3 was announced for the GBA. Since that very date it's been on Famitsu's list of Japan's top 10 most wanted, and finally the 12 year long break came to an end this week.
Scoring a great 35/40 in Famitsu, Mother 3 takes you through a wacky adventure on an all new planet with two twin brothers, Lucas and Claus, plus their dog Boney and parents Hinawa and Flint. New to the series is a chapter system, but everything else from the classic battles to the bizarre humor and clean graphics are all here. There still hasn't been any word of a US release for this third title, nor for the re-release of the first two games ported to the GBA three years ago. Never the less though, running on either the GBA, GBA: SP, GB Micro, DS or DS Lite, all of which are region free, no doubt fans will dive right into the sequel they've waited so long for now it's in stock.
