Uniqlo’s range of Monster Hunter t-shirts.
While the rest of the gaming world looks ahead to E3 and frets over the latest Draconian missives from Microsoft, in Japan Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4 campaign went into overdrive this week – over three months ahead of the 3DS game’s release. And it’s no wonder, as the Japan success of the latest entry in Capcom’s killer franchise may not be assured as you’d think.Monster Hunter 4′s September 14 release date was announced during a Japan-only edition of Nintendo Direct last Friday that focused solely on Capcom’s two upcoming tentpole 3DS releases, MH4 and Ace Attorney 5. Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto also revealed a 5,990 yen (£40) price tag, a pair of Monster Hunter-themed 3DS XL handsets and, well, not a lot else, instead teasing that more information would come out of an event Capcom was to hold at Odaiba Aqua City in Tokyo over last weekend.
