Nintendo is to discontinue two of the earliest available colours of the original 3DS in Japan 'soon'.
Announced via Nintendo of Japan, via Siliconera translations, the firm will soon cut off production of the 'Cosmo Black' and 'Ice White' versions of the portable, which were among the first colours available in the region. As the report notes, their removal from sale will also mark the last of the 3DS units sold with 2GB SD cards, with all remaining versions - Metallic Red, Light Blue and Gloss Pink - containing the 4GB cards. Nintendo recently announced the Nintendo 2DS, a new "more affordable" Nintendo 3DS model set for release in October.
The redesigned handheld - made to cater to younger gamers - will play the entire library of cartridge and digital 3DS and DS titles, but "only in 2D".
