Nintendo confirmed Smash Bros. for Wii U at E3, but had nothing to show. Now a claimed leaked document has supposedly revealed the game's possible title: Smash Bros. Universe.
The reportedly leaked design brief shows both Japanese and English logos, in which the 'U' in the word 'Universe' in the same font as the 'U' in the Wii U logo.
According to further translations of the typically blurry document, it makes mention of more third-party support (hinting at the possible inclusion of more characters like Sonic and Snake), the abolishing of tripping (a game mechanic that would see character occasionally fall over when dashing), and boosted speed for Samus after conventions set down by Metroid: Other M.
Nintendo has issued the typical 'no comment', and we'd remain deeply skeptical over the document's validity.
Series creator Masahiro Sakurai said rather bluntly that Nintendo "really shouldn't have announced [Smash Bros. Wii U] for the general public at this timing," later stipulating that "the early announcement was made chiefly in order to attract new team members", and that he 'has no time' to work on the game as he focuses on Kid Icarus Uprising.
You can safely assume, then, that Smash Bros. for Wii U, whether it is titled 'Universe' or not, is a long wait away.
