Description
It's time to race... with no wires attached! The acclaimed Mario Kart series
has gone wireless, letting players race and battle with up to eight karts
at once, regardless of whether everyone has a game card. An all-star cast
that includes Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, Bowser and Toad
will round out a truly all-star line-up of more than 30 courses drawn from
every Mario Kart game. That's right players will tour courses from
Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario Kart:
Double Dash!!, not to mention brand-new tracks and arenas. With all the crazy
items and frantic speed players have come to expect, this game is a Mario
Kart fan's dream. The game has a new dimension of fun, since players can battle
others around the world by connecting to Nintendo's new wireless gaming service,
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, via Wi-Fi.
The Review Itself
Mario Kart started off on the Snes with a great Single Player mode and probably
the best Multi player game you will ever see, the Balloon Battle Mode was
awesome. the game then progressed into Nintendo 64, GBA and Gamecube Versions
and whilst each one had better graphics they all seemed to lack that original
magic. Mario Kart on the Nintendo DS lets you play all the best tracks from
each of the older versions in retro mode and you also have all the new tracks.
The feel of the game is superb and once i got my fingers used to getting
rid of the weapons it was plain sailing, you have so many charactars to choose
from youll be spoilt for choice and when you progress further into the game
you will be rewarded by getting new tracks and charactars to choose from.
The two screens are put to great use and at times i for the fun of it just
followed the bottom screen and still won races, the graphics are as good as
the Nintendo 64 Version but way off the Gamecube Version but still great none
the less.
One of the awesome things about this game is if you have up to 7 mates who
dont own the game and are within say 20 foot of each others you can all join
in a game using just the one game card and all against each other, now if
only other handhelds allowed such a generous way of letting others sample
the game.
I dont have the wifi connector but the ability to play people from all over
the world is out standing.
Comments
This is the Killer App of the year across all systems, the ability to play
worldwide or even against 7 mates using a single game and the fact that all
the old tracks are in and a host of new ones, with great graphics and superb
playability, what more can i say, this is a major reason to buy yourself a
Nintendo DS, go get it now :)
Overall i would give it a 9.99/10 its just about perfect.
